As ever an absolute pleasure to have the force of nature that is Rob Wainwright back on for a chat. We catch up of course on all things Doddie Aid, particularly his latest made challenge when he'll be cycling from Murrayfield to Rome for the Italy v Scotland game on 8th March! We also learn of a new drink of Norfolk Nog and some chaos over in Coll due to it along with sizing up Scotland's 6 Nations chances ahead of what turned out to be a wild opening weekend win! Also touch on potential plans for Doddie Aid 2025 already, and how we can "awaken the Kraken" that is Team Glasgow for a shot at the title :) Massive tip of the cap to all who've been involved in another awesome Doddie Aid effort both for the miles and money raised. It all goes to helping the efforts of those trying to find treatments and ultimately a cure for MND.

This is the penultimate episode of this seasons Doddie Aid campaign, only fitting that we have a sit down with our favourite Scotland International the one and only Zander Fagerson. We manage to cover everything from fitting in his Dobbie Dook around a family lunch, our Doddie Aid miles to all things Scotland in this years 6 Nations Championship but most importantly we may have to arrange a Back Bar testimonial for the Zander given his appearance numbers. As always a pleasure to chat with Zander and wishing him all the best of the 6 Nations this year, am sure he'll make us proud. It's hitting mid-season in Doddie Aid 2024 so the lads caught up with Doddie Aid and Team Glasgow stalwart, and the man with the voice behind some of Scotland's Euro 2024 qualifying iconic moments, Rory Hamilton. We hear how he's getting on with his miles, a suggestion, nay plea, for difficulty bonus miles to be introduced and thoughts of Doddie Aid 2025 going worldwide...With the six nations coming up we get some thoughts on Scotland's chances there and of course some Euro 2024 chat. It's almost that time of year again and with Doddie Aid 2024 fast approaching we welcomed the new Team Glasgow captain, Eilidh Barbour, to the pod! Great catching up with Eilidh and finding out a bit more on her involvement, and big transfer to Team Glasgow in the Doddie Aid offseason. The lads embark on a bit of a recruitment drive to see if we can rope in some of her broadcasting pals, talk through some possible goals for the challenge and of course round things off with our speed round. The lads are back after a brief hiatus, and make their first foray into the world of professional golf, as they are joined by Scottish golfer, Richie Ramsay. A great insight into touring the globe with a bag of golf sticks, the idea of a Golf Rage Cam, and a return of the usual Heroes and Zeros/ Speedround gets the lads back into the swing (swing...see what we did there? Golf? Cool) of things, with Doddie Aid creeping up on us in Jan 2024

Next up at The Back Bar is a man who's been to the Olympic & Commonwealth Games, the rugby 7s World Cup, Guinness Pro12, Six Nations and a rugby 15s World Cup coming up later this year. He's Scotland physio and all round top lad, Ally Little. Amongst other things, we chat Olympic pressures, being part of the last few Calcutta Cup games, whether Ally was in one of Mini's shoulder surgeries, and how the first of Scotland's world cup training camps has gone. The ever competitive heroes and zeros has some interesting candidates this week, and our esteemed guest nails a 10/10 in the speed round too. Listen in to learn a bit and laugh a bit more. This one's been a long time coming as we finally caught up with Tom McGuire, the man behind our awesome intro music and frontman of Tom McGuire & The Brassholes! We can also confirm it was well worth the wait as we hear about interactions with none other than The Nature Boy Ric Flair, the latest album and also look ahead to a massive gig at Glasgow's O2 Academy later this year. There's a whole heap more squeezed into this chat too! Unsurprisingly we here at The Back Bar have an affinity with having a bit of a tipple, so who better to join us this week than the whisky sibling duo of Gordon and Ally Stevenson, the co-founders of Turntable Whisky. They've just released their first three "tracks" earlier in April, so we sat down to discuss all things uisge beath with these handsome fellas. This was a great chat, learning about the inspiration behind the launch of Turntable and the magic of blended whisky! We kick back into gear after Doddie Aid by welcoming former professional rugby player, american football kicker, and founder of Leader Kicking Academy, Tadhg Leader to The Back Bar. It's a great chat through Tadhg's journey from the Connacht Academy all the way to starting his own kicking academy, via rugby and american football stints in Italy, USA, Canada and Poland! A well travelled man, and as you can imagine some interesting stories to go with that. Heroes and Zeros returns, but in a slightly tweaked format this time to showcase our "skills" for Tadhg. Not sure any of us are getting enlisted with Leader Kicking anytime soon... Plenty of laughs to be had with a great guest, so be sure to have a watch and if you like the cut of our gib, then be a friend and tell a friend!

Doddie Aid 2023 is at an end and what an incredible 6 weeks it was! We wrap things up for our efforts and a shout out to all who took part in our league and the overall event, we tip our collective hats to you! As Doddie Aid reaches its climax, we welcome the man with the voice you will all recognise, and 2 of the best dogs on the internet (Olive and Mabel), Mr Andrew Cotter. We have heard his voice so much he felt like a pal already, and we reckon by the end of this...he's definitely our pal. We discuss Doddie Aid, the ups and downs of sports commentary life, his thoughts on LIV Golf, and more importantly....the headlines on Mabel's "Daily Barker". Mabel also joined us, but don't think she was overly impressed!

As we enter the final week of Doddie Aid, the lads are joined by our Commander in Chief, Mr. Rob Wainwright. Chatting through progress, fundraising, the upcoming Doddie Cup 555 Cycle as well as a certain Calcutta Cup result for Scotland yesterday... Last chance to get those miles in, to rope some more folk in and to give it one final push to get as much money raised as we can and hit that £2 million mark.

As Doddie Aid enters Week 2, The Back Bar lads are joined by the wonderful Jennifer Reoch to discuss Doddie Aid, working with Des Clarke on Heart Radio and the experience of winning Ms. Scotland, and competing in Ms. World. Doddie Aid hit the £1 million mark earlier this week, a Back Bar league milestone was also reached and a forfeit from Zander Fagerson was fulfilled... We kick off the 2023 Doddie Aid event with a return to the podcast for Warriors, Scotland and Lions prop and all round great lad, Zander Fagerson. Some chat about our New Years Day "Doddie Dooks", or lack of them in some cases, and maybe some forfeits for one of the hosting trifecta. We also touch on Doddie's legacy and Zander's memories of him, along with an update on his injury and hopes for the 6 Nations for himself and the Scotland team. The lads return for a chat to preview the upcoming Doddie Aid 2023 challenge with Team Glasgow Captain, Ryan Wilson. Obviously the 2023 event is going to be undertaken with an element of sadness due to the recent passing of Doddie, but we hope that honouring his legacy will spur people on to make this the biggest one yet.

The boys are back for another episode and looking distinctly more streamlined after being shorn of their locks in a recent charity endeavour! We also welcome a Scottish rugby star of the 7s circuit and 4 time Commonwealth Games athlete, Lee Jones. We chat through his time with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scotland (15s & 7s), which takes us on quite the journey through balancing rugby and a degree, a pretty deep dive into biscuits, being the old boy in the squad, teammates who've never heard of Meatloaf (the musician), and the much much more. It's a return for the boys, and bringing us back with a bang we were joined by Scottish professional super welterweight, turned middleweight boxer, Kieran Smith. We talk about his journey in boxing, having to get his mum onboard with it! Where did the nickname "Chopper" come from, and onto competing with the Commonwealth Games. His friendship, and training camp with Kell Brooke and what's coming up next. Along with plenty of the usual banter with heroes and zeros and our world famous speed round. What a treat to jump back into season 3 with top lad Stevie Jukes, one very handsome half of Scottish band Saint Phnx! This is a great chat with Stevie as we hear all you could ever want to know about this brilliant duo. How they got there, what's behind the name, a potential bromance with Hugh Jackman (Shuggie J to his pals), and how Maroon 5 helped them out on a epic video shoot in Iceland! There's also the renewing of rivalries with the lads as heroes and zeros makes a return following it's hiatus during Doddie Aid, and Stevie gets us back into the swing of things with the speed round.
