First Eclipse

4/12/2024
It’s amazing how a single cosmic event can bring humanity together. I almost missed it and a chance to take in the sublime. As people created in the image of God we remain divided. As long as we walked the earth we have lived in tribes and fought over land. In recent years tribal affiliation has intensified with the weapons of critical race theory and strong political alliances. We focus on skin colour and other trivial matters and forget we are earthlings orbiting around a star. The eclipse reminds us of our place in the universe and how small we are. It’s humbling to acknowledge there are forces and systems greater than us. Deadpool Approved

3/22/2024
No one puts baby in a corner. This is one of my favorite movie quotes. It’s a simple line delivered in a pivotal point in Dirty Dancing. The biggest fear is failure, to avoid it we do nothing. We live and draw within the lines and play by the rules. We say we want to live extraordinary but we succumb to the ordinary. Season 7 will cross the streams, jump the shark and climb over the fourth wall. Please spread the word about this show and follow me on X, my handle remains @Poeticearthling I’m also the producer of Deep Into History the best history show from the skillful lore master Arjun. Chaika

3/7/2024
Imagine if you were the last surviving member of the human race. Everything you loved and hated is burned in the fire. Earth is a distant memory as your space vessel is your only home. Loss, isolation and grief is your constant companion. However, there's a small glimmer of hope. A mustard seed of faith that pushes you to seek answers and to reclaim what was lost. Special episode My special guest is Karin Heimdahl. She's the writer and host of the multi award-winning dystopian sci-fi drama Chaika. You've heard her perform on this show, and in Season 7 she will be one of the leading stars. Karin breaks down her writing process and how she connects and cries over her characters. If you are a creative soul you’ll appreciate this episode because it will give you insight on how to make your stories come to life. Fat Man, Red Suit

12/22/2023
What does a few Canadians, a couple of Swedes, a couple of Hungarians, one obnoxious American, and one cute Korean girl have in common? They're all trapped on a plane at the edge of the North Pole. There's nothing better this Christmas season than to hear a great story. This story placed a smile on my face and I hope it does the same to you. To my incredible earthlings, this year wouldn't have been the same without your spirit. Thanks Shawntay for being the lady with the golden voice. Resistance Is Futile

11/9/2023
Is the advent of AI our long awaited Saviour, or is it the birth of Skynet Earlier this year I was invited to the Write Hive panel about AI in book publishing. Our conversation went beyond publishing to a more philosophical musing about where this technology is heading. Many of my stories revolve around AI, a good example is Escape From Wokeville, go back and give it a listen. 80 Candles And a Time Machine

10/18/2023
It's my Mom's 80th birthday, let's board the time machine and travel to 1943 Special Episode Sometimes we have impulsive and inspirational ideas but we don't take action. We give ourselves excuses of why it can't work. We feed our inspiration with logic before it reaches the clouds. I'm definitely guilty of this. My mind is a factory of ideas that remains on the conveyor belt. Life seems easier when you play it safe. With nothing to lose and nothing to gain you can sail through life unnoticed. You can live a painless existence by not ruffling any feathers. But who desires that? The people we admire are the risk takers, the cliff divers. Those people who ride the waves rather than observing them in their lawn chairs. I learned in this episode that being impulsive is not a bad thing. Sure you can go overboard if you're not careful but the right kind of impulsiveness is pure magic. Also in this episode you'll hear my Mom for the first time. If you like this show please give back at buymeacoffee.com/earthstoriesAlso listen and follow my Spin-off show, Experimental Stories. Public Apology

9/27/2023
You may have heard about my fall from grace, of how my actions tore apart the integrity of this show. Instead of having my good name smeared across social media I want to set the record straight. Emergency Episode I am not a fan of public apologies, especially from celebrities and politicians, because they come across as wooden and insincere. You could tell a lawyer or PR person whipped up this apology in the lab. They made sure to include all the key words and leave out words that will incriminate them. Most of the time the written speech does not match their personality or communication style. It looks, smells and tastes fake. We know they’re just going through the motions. Some people accept the apology, most people call foul. And there’s a third category of people you can never please. This third category looks for blood in the open seas and waits for the opportune time to pounce. They never had your back or even a modicum of the best intentions. Your apology is an invitation to inflict damage. It fuels their self-righteousness and their lustful desire to bring you down. Hopefully my public apology will suffice and most of you will move on, but I’m not holding my breath. Arch Angel

Even in the most severe circumstance there is light Season 1, Episode 1 This story was inspired when my car skidded off the road and landed almost upside-down in a ditch. This is not the first time I've been in a car accident. The benefit: it makes for a great story, the second benefit is a new appreciation of life. The second benefit outweighs the former by a long shot.Whenever someone gets close to the Grim Reaper they evaluate their life. They determine their goals and priorities. Matter OF time

9/13/2023
Some people say to live in the “now” what does that mean, and is it even true? In this bonus episode we’ll peel back the curtain and take a look at the concept of time. If you are an avid listener one of my favorite topics is time, from traveling forward or backward or understanding it philosophically. As I was recording this episode I was tempted to create a podcast all about time. We spend our days held hostage by the clock as we move from one appointment to the next, from one deadline to the other. Thousands of dollars is spent on time management courses to figure out how to stretch or compartmentalize time. Time saving techniques are developed to make us more efficient. With tremendous discipline you can structure your life and move to the next level. The question remains, what is time? Not even Solomon in all his wisdom defined it, and not even Einstein in all his science fully comprehended it. Your humble podcaster doesn’t have the wisdom of Soloman and the brilliance of Einstein to attempt to answer this query. My role is to get us thinking and I hope this episode achieves this goal. Bomb Threat

8/2/2023
A fraudulent company, and a vigilante opens the door to a philosophical time bomb Season 6 Finale, Episode 9 Written by Dark Samaritan When the government and law enforcement fail to uphold justice then anarchy is eminent. My country and probably yours is in turmoil as hoodlums are running the streets, and running major corporations. Laws are in place to protect the community but when these laws are not enforced they're quickly ignored. Hardened criminals scoff at our legal system because they know the courtroom is a revolving door. Many of them are sent back to the streets only to commit more crimes. Vigilantes emerge from a lacklustre legal system. They are fuelled with righteous indignation and are tired of waiting for the authorities. I'm not in favour of vigilante justice but I'm also not a fan of a passive milk-toast government whom has neglected their God given responsibilities. Escape From Wokeville, Deep Dive

7/28/2023
An extreme socialist government and one person's attempt to escape Season 6, Deep Dive The motto used to be, don't trust the government and don't trust the men in black. We were cautious of big government poking their Pinocchio nose in our business. Our personal information was considered sacred including our family photos and political affiliations. It was the right of every citizen in the western world to be anonymous without the control of Big Brother. So, what happened? Google, Facebook and other tech corporations wormed their way into our lackadaisical hearts. They promised us instant gratification in exchange for our privacy. It worked. Stupid cat videos, booty shaking nurses and an endless onslaught of selfies. The government, AKA Big Brother, took notice of the social media empires and spurred them on. What's the cure? We need to wean ourselves off the government's milk by spending less time on social media. This may seem difficult but ask yourself, what am I gaining from it? The research is clear, negative social media engagement increases anxiety and depression. This stems from us comparing ourselves to others. We compare their follower count, waistlines, vacation photos and cute selfies. On the surface it may seem innocent but behind closed doors we are a mess. Try this experiment, take a week off of social media. You heard me right the whole week. During this time monitor your anxiety levels. You may go through a couple of days of withdrawal, just like any drug, but in the end you'll feel more in control of your life. This episode was written and produced by your truly, York Campbell.
