He has collaborated with the media as a freelance and worked with agencies such as Getty Images, The Wideangle or Bilderberg. In 2015 he founded Graphext which is an innovative analysis tool that has revolutionized the world of statistics, allowing people to analyze data and use machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to see the hidden information in the data. Victoriano is now based in Madrid.

He earned his BSc in physics from the University of Salamanca and a PhD in physics from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Has published more than 50 articles, and has led and participated in over 20 projects funded by government agencies and/or private companies. He is the founder of Telefonica’s Big Data for Social Good department, expert to the EP’s AI Observatory (EPAIO), member of the B2G data-sharing Expert Group of the EC, and a frequent speaker at Artificial Intelligence events. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Science, has published over 100 scientific articles, and is author of the books “The myth of the algorithm: tales and truths of artificial intelligence” (Spanish) and “A Data-Driven Company”. He is strategic advisor of several start-ups, including BigML, Focus360 and Nexus Clips. Before joining Telefonica, he was director and board member at iSOCO, which he co-founded in 1999. Based on his work, iSOCO were granted the National Award for Computer Science. Benjamins has held positions at the Technical University of Madrid, the University of Amsterdam, the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, the University of Paris-South, France, and the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in Barcelona. Sergio studied Computer Science at the Autonomous University of Madrid obtaining one of the best records and being recognised with the Professor Javier Martínez award to the best student. He also completed a master of science in computational statistics and machine learning at the London´s Global University. He started his professional activity at the Institute of Engineering and Knowledge in Madrid, he was also briefly in Dunnhumby in London to later start his stage in Deepmind where he has been for more than 7 years. In this call, Jesús talks to Sergio about his arrival at the company shortly before being acquired by Google, his professional development within it, and the most important challenges he has faced since his inception in the world of data and artificial intelligence. Deepmind is a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts, and more, working together to advance the state of the art in AI. They´re always been fascinated by human intelligence – it shaped the modern world we live in today. Intelligence allows us to learn, imagine, cooperate, create, communicate, and so much more.
