5/25/2023
Well boy are you in for a treat! Frontman of America #1 Hot New Band... Tades Sanville. We had a fun time cutting up and talking about their brand new album on Wax Bodega Records, Why Would I Watch. Beyond the verbose song titles, the songs hold substance. A quality that self-professed "lyric band" Hot Mulligan, takes pride in. Tades talks about the gap between albums, the decision to change labels, and the writing process behind such a triump. Makes sure you listen to the new album, and catch them on tour in the US and UK this summer. Catch you all next week for our for Mixtape ep. We're collecting song for the summer, so if you have any suggestions plz send our way. All love... The Cool Guys™

S1E1: Paramore- This is Why

5/10/2023
Paramore is back, pod goes punk is back, McRib is back- you thankful yet? In this extraordinarily well-done episode, we go into a bit of context before diving into the tracks. Then, we talk about the excellent titular track, "This is Why" and the similarly propulsive second track, "The News." But we really fell in love with the back half and the more ponderous, spacey folk ballads like the closer "Thick Skull." The Atlantic called this week's episode a "signature retour à la gloire, three artists once more setting the gold standard in a nascent medium." Next week we cover Magnolia Park's 2022 record, "Baku's Revenge!" so listen with us!

Charlie Hickey - Nervous At Night

7/21/2022
If you listen to pod goes punk, you know who The Cool Guys™ are: hard drinking, high octane adrenaline junkies who like their music the way they like their race cars- Fast. Singer-songwriter stuff like Charlie Hickey’s 2022 debut Nervous at Night usually doesn’t rev the pods 12 cylinder engine… but damn this record is special. The New Republic hailed this episode as “a flag of defiance. Pod Goes Punk boldly sets a new vision for American life.” www.patreon.com/podgoespunk www.coolclother4guys.com

Prince Daddy & The Hyena - S/t

7/7/2022
You know when you are so uncomfortably high that you get a little heartburn and for 5 minutes you’re dead-ass convinced that you are having heart failure and are about to die? THAT is how high our expectations were for Prince Daddy & The Hyena’s self-titled third record. And for good reason! We really dig the band's first LP and EP, with its basement-stoner chuggy vibe and insanely catchy hooks. But P daddy’s second record, Cosmic Thrillseekers, took the band to a new stratosphere thematically and sonically. So how do we feel about this new LP? Can it possibly meet our expectations?? You’ll see with this episode, which New York Magazine called “a necessarily auditory salve for the Post Roe millennial.”

PUP - THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND

4/26/2022
This is the fourth studio album from the Canada-based rock group, and the third we've covered for the pod. This album is a diversion from the course we expected PUP to take, but it still delivers in big ways with tracks like "Totally Fine," "Robot Writes A Love Song," and "Relentless." Then there are Bright Eyes-Esque interludes that feel like speed bumps on the highway. This is the album that every successful band has to make. The one where their art becomes their job and they no longer are in control. The problem is, that it's not relatable to anyone. It's real and authentic but not overly effective in connecting with the audience. Despite all of that, there are moments where you hear brilliance and somehow that's enough to make this a good album. Peak PUP can square off with anyone.

Oliver Tree - Cowboy Tears

4/26/2022
Oliver Tree is a special person who is famous for his bowl cut. However, in the spring of 2022, Oliver makes like a tree and leaves that look behind. Tree rips through his fucking chrysalis sporting a mullet and a ten-gallon hat. His fit is just like his music... fucking sick. For those saying, "Hey when are we gonna have new Sugar Ray," well this is it. Rife with catchy hooks and clever turns of phrase, Oliver Tree embarks on a path that feels less trodden than the one before. While you can easily catch familiar melodies and chord progressions, no single influence is overwhelming or overdone. A tip of the cap to you pardner.

Mom Jeans. - Sweet Tooth

4/26/2022
Sweet Tooth is the first album the band has put out since they did an interview with us. We'd like to think that we inspired a HUGE chunk of this album, and we'd like you to think that too. Regardless, we all really enjoyed this album. It's arguably MJ at their catchiest and with hits like "White Trash Millionaire" and "What's Up?" leading the way, it's possibly MJ at their best. The sugary sweet motif helps draw a thread betwixt the songs, which is the only thing preventing this from being a greatest hits compilation.

Twenty One Pilots - Blurryface

1/31/2022
This is quite possibly the most popular album we've ever covered. For whatever reason, we have always thought this band was lame, despite the fact that we all secretly like their shit. So, we've decided to be brave and expose ourselves to the world. Sorry for being cringe but we actually think this band rocks. If you think Twenty One Penis is good too, you can go to coolclothes4guys.com and get sick merch. Both the guys from the band wear our stuff. And I know what you're thinking... Are these clothes just for guys? No, it's for all genders, not just guys. The clothes are cool, and there are 4 guys that do the podcast. It's not what you thought at first. The cool clothes are for everyone, not just the 4 guys. I hope that makes sense. The clothes are cool, and these 4 guys are really excited to offer them to everyone.

Joyce Manor - Self-titled

1/31/2022
It's surprising that this album made it 3 years without getting covered by PGP. This self-titled album from Joyce Manor is the second album of theirs that we've covered. The previous was Never Hungover Again. For fans of the band, keep listening, our takes improve after we hear the remastered version. For new listeners, DO NOT listen to the OG black album, the mix is shit. Listen to the new orange one, sounds incredible. Speaking of orange, if you like orange shirts we have some for sale at coolclothes4guys.com. It's for all genders, not just guys. The clothes are cool, and there are 4 guys that do the podcast. It's not what you think at first. The cool clothes are for everyone, not just the 4 guys. I hope that makes sense. The clothes are cool, and these 4 guys are really excited to offer them to everyone.
