On this Open Championship preview podcast we chat with Greg Allen in advance of the 150th Championship at St Andrews. For the 75th episode, we are excited to share with you a chat we recently had with Mr. Ryder Cup, Tony Jacklin. An Open and US Open Champion in 1969 and 1970 respectively, Tony is widely acknowledged as the person who changed the Ryder Cup back in the late 1970’s. Without his intervention, it would not be what it is today, the third most watched sporting event in the world (behind The Olympics and the World Cup). Tony joins us to chat about his new book “My Ryder Cup Journey” that he co-wrote with Sports Journalist Tony Jimenez. The book is the very definition of “a page turner” giving golfing enthusiasts an insight into Tony as a player and then a Captain. We chat about the game today, the proposed Saudi League, the LIV Tour, as well as equipment technology. Brendan Lawlor joins us on this weeks pod. Brendan is a World No.1 disabled golfer and he tells us of his progress from pitch and put to teeing up on the European Tour last year. At the time of our chat he was just back from Hawaii after competing in the All Abilities Championship Playoff. Sam Harrop joins us on the pod this week to chat through his passion for music, golf and life! His hugely talented songs about some of the world's best golfers have received huge acclaim. He describes the feeling of posting that very first Tony Finau piece and being nervous to its reaction. His talent on the piano in his front room has been there for all to see and when Brooks likes what you are doing......you are doing alright! Some fun this week!!! Nicolas Colsaerts joined us on the podcast this week and what a Dude he is! The Belgian Bomber strolled us through his life in golf, away from it too at times and the fun all the way along the ride. From turning Pro and not having a clue what was needed to that miracle at Medinah and Westy's desire for Gin & Tonic's. Life on the PGA Tour compared to Europe and why he packed up and headed home! Olympics in Rio 2016, his last win in France 2 years ago and how Covid and family time has given him a nice break, yet ready to push on again. Huge thanks Nicolas for the great chat.
