Ep 15 Fixing the Rules of the Game: Mike Morrice on Electoral Reform and Wealth Inequality
3/3/2026
In this episode, Peter is joined by Mike Morrice, former MP and current Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada, to dive into the systems that create cascading effects on the everyday lives of Canadians, from our voting method to growing economic inequality. The discussion highlights a deep dive into the problems with the "hyper-divisive, winner-take-all" electoral system, Morrice's motion for democratic reform, and the Green Party's role as the "conscience of Parliament." They tackle the issues of economic injustice, the growing wealth gap, the concentration of power, and how these factors impact civic engagement, proposing policy solutions like a wealth tax and a windfall tax on oil and gas profits.
