"Lotta freaks" : An interview with Mabloni

5/27/2022
© The Tin Pan Alley Podcast; Intro melody by Brooke Alexx ---- We talked about the new album "Lotta Freaks", his songwriting process, why it's kind of hard to not get the "U.S. blues" at times, and which musical event he would travel back in time to (if we had a time machine). ----- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mabloni/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mabloni About Mabloni: Mabloni is a one-man-psychedelic-folk-force on stage, performin solo what is written for a whole band. On his (so far) three albums, the multi-instrumentalist recorded most of the instruments himself being his own backing band. Several tours through Europe and many years of busking in the streets of different German cities have shaped the folk musician who will give you a true retro feeling without being out-of-date. Being compared to temporary artists like The Dead South, Glen Hansard or Hozier but also embracing his idols like The Beatles, Donovan, CSNY and Cat Stevens, Mabloni plays his mix of folk, country, blues and rock causing reactions from his peers like: "Feels like freakin' Woodstock!"

We talked about the meaning of faith and creativity, German poet Paul Gerhardt, Sarah’s latest Christmas album “Vom Himmel Hoch” (English: “From heaven above”), and her exciting and formative years in London, the United States, and Berlin. --- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarahkaiserlive Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sarahkaiserband About Sarah: Sarah Kaiser is a passionate singer. Crash and Burn: An interview with Charlie Grant

5/9/2021
© The Tin Pan Alley Podcast; Intro melody by Brooke Alexx We talked about the Beatles vs. Rolling Stones, vulnerability and mental health in the music industry, ageism, songwriting and productivity in the age of Corona, and why it is important to be connected to likeminded artists and producers. ---- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/charlieltgrantmusic/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheCharlieGrantPage About Charlie: UK native Charlie Grant got his first break in music as a songwriter for hire, landing cuts with Melanie C, Michael Patrick Kelly, Simply Red, Michael Schulte, Marco Mengoni and Leslie Clio, along with newcomers like Iris and Lxandra. However, the original dream of writing and releasing music as an artist in his own right refused to stay quiet for long and kept pestering him from the back of his mind...so, pulling in favours and forming a new currency based on pints of beer owed to various musician friends and studio owners, Charlie got used to recording in the dead of night and set to work on a heartfelt set of songs focused on musicianship, storytelling, and song craft. Crash & Burn is the latest release from Charlie, who has been steadily building a fanbase with his 2020 releases Stranger’s Eyes, Whatever Your Heart Desires and Wide Open. Crash & Burn was recorded in isolation between two Berlin studios in late 2020, Producer Jonathan Kluth taking Charlie’s home recorded vocals and guitars and building a soundscape around them in one inspired, late night session at his home studio. A fully independent artist, Charlie has had his songs added to more than 300 playlists on Spotify and on German radio he’s had more than 2,000 airplays on around 40 different stations - most notably his songs I Got The Fear, Love Letters, Astronaut, and Stay Down.

Seasoul: The Times They Are A-Changin'

11/24/2020
© The Tin Pan Alley Podcast Intro melody by Brooke Alexx Musician, songwriter and Berlin based artist Vanessa Sonnenfroh aka Seasoul has always balanced opposites in her songs. And when looking at opposites like Yin and Yang, Moon and Sun, or Nature and the City, it’s clear that opposites are often interdependent. Seasoul is originally from Baden-Württemberg, where she was introduced to classical music from a young age. While travelling in Europe and New Zealand she formed a raw folk sound á la Bob Dylan and, inspired by his gigs in Greenwich Village in the early 60s, she played in pubs, cafe's and busked on the street. Her lyrics reach into an emotional space that is impassioned, sometimes accusing, and sometimes observing from a distance as a narrator. Seasoul weaves a timeless sound-coat, a tapestry of melody and lyrics performed with grace. The mysterious sea is a kind of mental alter ego. Motivated as ever, Seasoul moved from Hamburg to Berlin to study Music production. There, her career began to take shape as her musical horizon expanded with numerous concerts and the experience of working with other musicians. Seasoul has always followed her instincts and has never shied away from unfamiliar musical genres. Recently, she met a fellow producer to work with. Fabian Bork aka Dreammakers recognized Seasoul's interest in fusion, and the two of them have combined the sounds of the singer-songwriter genre with jazz harmonies. The result is dream pop, hip hop and soul with an array of folk lyrics over synthesizer atmospheres. A Seasoul and Dreammaker EP will be released in autumn 2020. Until then you can listen to all of the previous releases on Spotify, Apple Music or Google Play. Listen and discover how opposites are full of harmony.

Until morning comes again: November Me

5/4/2020
Me is an acoustic pop duo, based in Berlin. On the grounds of canto in two voices, guitar, piano, glockenspiel and electronic miniatures, Sebastian and Eno put their thoughts about all things and episodes into songs, that give your life stability or pull the carpet under your feet. In the same way as our time being is bitter and sweet they're flooding the stage with music, sometimes whisperingly quiet and almost unpleasantly close, then furiously shouting and with embracing singalong lines. november-me.com/

The Melody at Night, Without You: Samuel Jersak

1/7/2020
Samuel Jersak arbeitet als Sideman u.a. mit Sebastian Bailey, Onita Boone, Andreas Dombert, Birgitta Flick, Lea W. Frey, FunkFabrik, Cae Gauntt, Judith Goldbach, Torsten Harder, Samuel Harfst, Prof. Esther Kaiser, Sarah Kaiser, Uli Kringler, Alexander „Sandi“ Kuhn, Matthias Meusel, Judy Niemack, Thomas Siffling, Prof. Jonas Schoen, Liv Solveig, Uwe Steinmetz, Daniel Stelter, Sebastian Studnitzky, Cecile Verny u.v.a. zusammen und spielte Konzerte u.a. in Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Äthiopien, Afghanistan, Finnland, Frankreich, Israel, Italien, Kenia, Niederlande, Polen, Rumänien, Saudi-Arabien, Schweden und Spanien.

Wieder aufstehen: Aileen Phoenix

7/2/2019
