#27 The Dark Side of Goal Setting: Why You Might Need to Stop

8/29/2023
Hi there! In this video, I discuss the dark side of goal setting and why it may be time for you to stop setting goals. While setting goals can be a powerful tool for personal development and achievement, it can also lead to a spiral of negative self-talk and self-doubt. Many of us set goals based on past trauma and feelings of lacking or self-hate, which can ultimately lead to a never-ending cycle of reward addiction and external validation. I share insights from my experience working with high achievers, including CEOs and Olympic athletes, who often struggle with this same pattern of motivation. By examining the true motivations behind our goals, we can start to set goals from a place of self-love and enjoyment, leading to a more fulfilling journey towards personal growth and achievement. So, if you're a motivation junkie or self-help enthusiast, this video is for you.

8/22/2023
In this episode, I'm going to share with you the difference between functional and dysfunctional breathing. As a breathwork biohacker, I often get asked what is the right way to breathe and what is the wrong way to breathe. But the truth is, there is not a one-size-fits-all answer. It depends on the situation and what your body needs in that moment. I'll explain why mouth breathing, fast breathing, and chest breathing can be both functional and dysfunctional depending on the context, and how to recognize signs of dysfunctional breathing in yourself. By understanding functional breathing and dysfunctional breathing, you can learn to build a better relationship with your breath and use it as a tool to manage stress and improve your overall well-being.

#25 Are Breathing Techniques Overrated? The Core Principles You Need to Know

8/15/2023
Hey there! In this episode, I discuss a commonly made mistake in breathwork that both teachers and practitioners often fall into - relying too heavily on techniques and methods. While I do teach breathing techniques and methods, I stress the importance of understanding the core principles that underlie them. Often, people find a technique that works for them and stick to it, thinking it's the best one. However, this can lead to disappointment when the technique stops working or becomes unpleasant over time. I explain how following techniques and chasing methods can be a downside in breathwork as it can limit your understanding of the practice. Instead, I encourage viewers to take a technique, break it down, and use it to gain a deeper understanding of the core principles of breath. By doing so, you'll be able to learn how breath works, why techniques work in certain situations and not in others, and gain a deeper understanding of breath physiology and anatomy.

#21 The Dark Side of Measuring Your Breath: Avoid These Common Mistakes

7/18/2023
In this episode, I share some insights on the common mistake of chasing numbers when practicing and teaching breath work. While there are measurements that can be used to quantify breath, such as retention time and CO2 tolerance, the downside is that people often turn these numbers into goals and start chasing them. This can lead to neglecting the present moment experience and focusing solely on reaching a certain number, which is not the point of a breathing practice. I explain the difference between goal orientation and process orientation and how it relates to breath work. Instead of using these numbers as goals, they can be used as in-the-moment measurements to help build a stronger relationship with the body and understand how various lifestyle factors can influence breath. By following the numbers inside the body, we can gain a deeper understanding of how breath influences every part of our life and start to move towards mastery.

#20 Breathwork Mistakes: Stop Chasing the High for Better Results

7/11/2023
In this episode, I talk about the most common mistakes people make in breathwork, specifically focusing on the dangerous habit of chasing the high. I share my experience and knowledge on how practicing breathwork solely to achieve this intense state can actually be detrimental to your health in the long run. I explain how hyperventilation and intense breathing can be a shortcut to experiencing a mind-blowing sensation, but it can dysregulate your breathing, weaken your resilience to stress, and cause negative effects. Instead, I suggest seeking out calmer, more subtle breathing practices that allow you to get deeper into your body and reach even more profound states. Join me in this episode to learn about the downsides of chasing the high and discover other ways to achieve strong and intense breathwork experiences.

#18 Microdosing Death: The Secret to Living a Fulfilling Life

6/27/2023
In this episode, I discuss one of my favorite practices for self-evolution, which I call "microdosing death." This practice involves creating little moments throughout the day that remind you of the finite nature of life. For some people, the thought of death can be depressing and create a lot of suffering. But if fear of death is a big thing for you, as it used to be for me, this practice can help you gain clarity on what is most important in your life. By consciously reminding yourself of your impending death, you can gain a sharper focus on the things that are most important to you and start to live each day with more intensity and awareness. It can help you align your actions with your true purpose and make the most of the time you have. I offer different timeframes for reflection, such as what if today were my last day or what if I had 100 years left to live. I also suggest incorporating the breath as a way to create mini-moments of remembering the fragility of life. If you have any experience with this practice or questions, please leave a comment below.

#17 Transform Your Parenting with the Power of Conscious Breathing

6/20/2023
Hey there! In this episode, I dive into the world of conscious breathing and how it can make us better parents. As a father of two, I understand the challenges that come with being a parent, but also the incredible rewards. By learning to relate to our parenting in a different way and having more respect for our own nervous system, we can become better role models for our children. Breathwork is a powerful tool that can give us access to our subconscious and help us regulate our emotions in difficult parenting situations. By using simple breathing techniques, we can downregulate ourselves and invite our children to co-regulate with us, ultimately leading to a more harmonious and healthy relationship. In this video, I share my own experience with breathwork and offer practical tips for incorporating it into your parenting toolkit.

#16 Breathwork for Anxiety: How to Lower Stress and Find Inner Calm

6/13/2023
Do you struggle with stress and anxiety? In this video, I'll show you how to use your breath to lower your levels of stress and anxiety. When we feel anxious or stressed, we tend to experience it mainly in our head with rampant thoughts, projecting into the future and worrying. However, anxiety also manifests itself as a physical sensation in our body. To hack into anxiety with your breath, you need to become aware of it and turn towards it. Don't try to numb or run away from it. Instead, turn towards your body, look inward, and ask yourself, "What state am I in?" When you notice your anxiety creeping up, start controlling your exhale by inhaling through your nose and slowly exhaling through pursed lips. Lengthening your exhale can stimulate your vagus nerve and activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body to recover, relax and rest. By controlling your inhale and exhale, you'll start to gain control over your anxiety and stress. The simple exercise of lengthening your exhale can take just a few minutes but can be incredibly effective in helping you feel less anxious and more in control. So, the next time you feel stressed or anxious, take a deep breath and start to control your exhale.

#15 The Rise of AI: What Makes Us Truly Human

6/6/2023
In this episode, I share my thoughts on the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity. As AI technology advances and takes over many tasks that humans once did, it begs the question of what makes us truly human. While AI may be better than us at many things, it can never replace true human connection and imperfection. I discuss how the rise of AI may actually lead us to explore new dimensions of human consciousness and evolve our capacity for the heart, spirit, and energetic systems. Instead of focusing solely on productivity, we can start to look at other aspects of being human that AI cannot replicate. If you're interested in exploring the future of AI and what it means for humanity, then give this video a watch. Don't forget to like and leave a comment with your thoughts on the topic.

#10 Your toxic relationship with normality

1/31/2022
Look around in your life. Notice all the results. Your relationships, health status, financial life, level op happiness etc. etc. Apart from a few exceptions, everything you see in your life is a result of what you find “normal” Normal is simply a set of boundaries within which lay all the things that you accept into your life, because you are used to them. A lot of these boundaries were simply learned throughout your life by your own experiences and the lessons from your role models. This means that what you find normal - and what you accept in your life - is usually not aligned with what is most optimal for you (and often quite the opposite). Unless you make the effort to truly figure out what makes your life optimal, happy, fulfilled, strong and healthy. And for that, you have to study your relationship with normality. That’s what this weeks podcast is all about. So let’s get outside and join me on this walk!
