Mr. Karuppusamy is a vibrant social worker who graduated with a Master's degree in Economics from Bharathiyar University, a Diploma in Rural Development from Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Law from Bangalore University in Karnataka. His journey towards community development and social activities started in 1998, and he has worked with various local and international organizations. The years of experience made Mr. Karuppusamy establish the Rights Education And Development Centre (READ) in 2001 to provide education to the children of the most marginalized communities and to work for labour rights. READ is a voluntary, secular, and non-profit organization that strives to address and solve the socio-economic and cultural challenges of the stakeholders—children, youth, and women of the marginalized communities in Erode, Tirupur, and Coimbatore districts. Mr. Karuppusamy and his organization work in the aspects of prevention, protection, and rehabilitation of victims of forced labour, Bonded Labour and Human Trafficking. The working region of READ is the major belt of the textile and garment industries. They aim to eradicate the exploitation of the vulnerable.
