• warum Wissen allein keine Gesundheit schafft

What Germans pay for Health
12/19/2025
Most Germans already pay around €250 per week for their health.
They just don’t get healthier from it.
Every working person in Germany pays into the health system.
Roughly €800–1,000 per month.
Whether you are healthy or sick.
Now here’s the uncomfortable part.
Most people still get sicker over time.
At the same time:
• Millions have a gym membership
• The average gym is used only a handful of times per year
• Chronic lifestyle diseases account for the majority of healthcare costs
• Illness-related systems contribute a significant share of our total emissions
So what do we do?
We prescribe more pills.
We add Ozempic.
We treat side effects with new medications.
And then we treat the side effects of the side effects.
A system built on repair, not prevention.
Now imagine this instead.
What if just 50% of what we already pay could be invested in preventive care:
• structured training
• nutrition education
• sleep and recovery
• long-term coaching
The impact would be massive.
Fewer sick days.
Lower healthcare costs.
Less strain on hospitals.
Lower emissions.
More independent people.
Because real independence does not come from medication.
It comes from work capacity.
The ability to move.
To carry.
To think clearly under stress.
To recover.
To contribute.
You cannot outsource that.
And you cannot buy it in pill form.
A society does not get stronger by treating weakness.
It gets stronger by building strength.
The money is already there.
The question is whether we are brave enough to use it differently.
If this made you think, save it.
If it made you uncomfortable, share it.
That’s usually a sign it matters.
