Ep 13: Dating with intention: Why You need a non-negotiable list

6/2/2021
Is your dating life exhausting and unsatisfying? Let’s change that. In this episode of Glow Up Season, I talk about intentional dating and share a tool that has helped me change my dating habits for the better. This powerful dating tool is the concept of having non-negotiables. Companionship is a basic human need… and dating is fun, but it can be exhausting. It can feel like a merry-go-round, am I right?! Until I started dating with intention, I was on and off that ride too many times to count. So, let’s discuss what non-negotiables are and how to build your own list so that you can have a healthy and happy dating life that makes you feel confident and in control. Plus, I share with you my list of non-negotiables based on past relationships and dating experiences so that you can feel inspired to create your own. Hot tip: “You can tell what someone prioritizes or what’s important to them by what they spend their time on.” In This Episode You Will Learn: The typical stages of dating (3:38) What a non-negotiable is and is not (08:49) My non-negotiables and why I’m passionate about them (11:09) My negotiables in relationships (19:35) Other ways to improve your dating life (29:14) Questions Answered: What is intentional dating? (08:08) How do I define my non-negotiables in relationships? (23:06) “A non-negotiable is not open for discussion or modification, sis. It is unchanging. It is an absolute. It is something that you have to commit to and not budge on.” Repeat after me: I am not a Build-a-Bear Workshop! Stream Glow Up Season NOW on iTunes, Google, Stitcher, Pandora, YouTube, and Spotify! Ep 12: Make Peace with Your Past: Why You Need to Grieve Your Past Self

5/18/2021
Do you have regrets in your life? Do you reflect upon your past and wish you could change it? In this episode of Glow Up Season, I talk about what it means to grieve your past self, why it’s so important for your health and wellbeing, and what happens when you ignore or suppress grief. Then, I share a few tips on how to grieve your past self so that you can move on and glow up! “Grieving is simply the emotional response to a loss.” It’s okay to want better for your past self… but at what point does it start to hold you back from being present and content with where you’re at now? Grief can show up in many ways and be triggered by many different events, like a break-up, a haircut, a change in career paths, or even the pandemic. Grieving your past self means you’re allowing yourself to feel the emotions you didn’t allow yourself to feel when you were becoming a different version of yourself. “We will always go through pain in our lives, sis, we cannot control that… but what we can control is how we choose to respond to that pain.” Grief sets you free. Grief allows you to move forward in your life while feeling lighter, less resistant, and less guilty of the past. You owe it to yourself to stop being a prisoner of your past. Your past is a lesson, not a life sentence. In This Episode You Will Learn: A real, personal story showing the importance of grieving your past self (5:13) Why it’s important to go through the grief process (14:32) The 5 stages of grief (17:33) Tips for grieving your past self (21:29) Questions Answered: What does it mean to grieve your past self? Ariel bravely shares her story of how she healed 99% of her chronic illness symptoms, reversed all her diseases, and got off all her medications simply by switching to a plant-based diet and approaching health from a holistic perspective. “Every single food that we put in our body is either going to fight or fuel disease.” - Arielle After struggling with countless invisible symptoms, being put on medication after medication, hitting rock bottom, and feeling like she no longer wanted to live… Ariel took her health into her own hands. Ep 10: Why We Apologize Too Much and How to Stop

4/20/2021
Do you find yourself over-apologizing, sometimes for things that aren’t even your fault? Other than habit, there may be deeper reasons for why you do that… In this episode of Glow Up Season, I highlight the reasons why people over-apologize, how to stop over-apologizing, and how saying sorry too much affects us as women. I share some alternative ways to say, “I’m sorry,” along with a fun challenge you can participate in that will help you implement this into your life. “By apologizing, we try to avoid conflict, we try to stop the conflict before it even starts. We apologize so no one gets offended or so that no one gets mad at us. Phew! The tea is scorching today, my sistas!” The need to please people, low self-esteem, perfectionism, a trauma response, or feeling responsible for other people’s mistakes might all be reasons why you say sorry too much. Saying sorry might seem like it’s polite, but it’s actually hurting you and making you appear smaller and more timid that you really are. Are you tired of apologizing for everything? Do not apologize for your feelings. Do not apologize for taking time for yourself. Do not apologize for being your true, authentic self. Do not apologize for leveling up, growing, and GLOWING UP! Share this episode and challenge your loved ones to stop this habit of over-apologizing! Start TOMORROW. Doing it together will have an even more powerful, healing effect on your life. In This Episode You Will Learn: How over-apologizing comes off and how it impacts us as women (6:18) A tip for easing the anxiety that comes with apologizing too much (16:12) What you should and shouldn’t apologize for (27:12) Alternative ways to say “I’m sorry” (30:56) Questions Answered: Why do women say sorry too much?
