9/14/2021
M.O.P. affiliate Teflon delivers the uplifting, funky remix of his latest single, “Life in the FEDS,” featuring cuts from DJ Premier and slick production from Jazimoto. Jaz actually produced the original track, which had a raw, more somber vibe. On the remix, she flips it into an anthemic banger with a live band sound that would make The J.B.'s proud. The remix is available now through all digital retailers and streaming platforms through Teflon’s 420 Music label in partnership with Coalmine Records. Stay tuned for the visuals, along with more content off Teflon’s forthcoming LP, appropriately titled, 'Two Sides to Every Story,' produced by both Jazimoto and Preemo. Can you dig it? Brooklyn’s own Teflon showcases his pen game on “Life in the FEDS,” which offers an uncompromising look at the U.S. criminal justice system and the lives it consumes. The single is produced by frequent collaborator Jazimoto, who brings a menacing funk to the track, with cuts supplied by the legendary DJ Premier. Steve Spiffler & Blu - Sixty Four

2/5/2020
The West Coast duo of Steve Spiffler & Blu are straight spittin’ on their new collaborative single, the raw and lyrics-driven “Sixty Four.” The track features each emcee delivering 32 bars (hence the name, “Sixty Four”) that are filled with internal rhymes, wordplay, and autobiographical bits over Spiffler & JBA1K's laid-back production. Spiffler continues to impress with each new release, and he’s gained a steady following over the years with a number of projects including a Chance the Rapper tribute that the Chicago rapper himself cosigned. As for Blu, he recently released a stellar collaboration with Damu The Fudgemunk that follows the tradition set by his projects with Exile, Oh No, Nottz, Madlib, and others. “Sixty Four” is available now for stream and download through all major DSPs. Thelonious Martin - They Don't Know (feat. Saga) Instrumental

10/5/2017
To celebrate the many phenomenal instrumentals that have landed on our projects over the years, Coalmine Records is pleased to release of our first instrumental compilation, 'Beats, Mines and Life: An Instrumental Journey.' The 14 tracks on here capture the brilliance of several of the producers we’ve worked with in recent years. These include numerous living legends who have carved out a massive niche in the game, including the likes of Nottz, Ayatollah, M-Phazes, and Khrysis. Also featured are the underground stalwarts like DJ Concept, Max I Million, J57, Small Professor, and Thelonious Martin, all of whom are cementing their place in the Hip-Hop world. The 50 minute Journey highlights both serious bangers and low-key headnodders alike. For the trunk-rattlers, we have joints like M-Phazes’ shimmering beat for Blu’s 2012 single, “Kiss The Sky,” in addition to his creeping “Midnight Madness” instrumental from Heltah Skeltah’s 2011 EP of the same name. Elsewhere, you’re bound to break your neck to Nottz’ “Atlantis” (off his 'Titans in the Flesh EP' with Blu), chill along to J57’s dusty “The Art of Sole” (off Aaron Rose’s 2016 EP, 'Elixir'), and feel the soul of Thelonious Martin’s “They Don’t Know” (off his 2017 released 'Molotov' LP with Saga). Like many of our releases, 'Beats, Mines and Life' pays homage to the Hip-Hop greats who have come before us. Of course, the title is a callback to A Tribe Called Quest’s classic 1996 LP, 'Beats, Rhymes & Life,' and a tribute to the life and art of the late Phife Dawg. 'Beats, Mines and Life' is now available through all digital outlets and streaming platforms, and arrives in time for Cassette Store Day 2017 (Sat, Oct. 14) in limited quantities. Order your limited edition copy today! Tracklist: 01. Ayatollah - “Naturally Born” (feat. Big Noyd, Large Professor & Kool G Rap) Instrumental 02. Nottz - “Atlantis” (feat. Blu) Instrumental 03. D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F.

10/9/2015
Brooklyn rap veteran, Shabaam Sahdeeq, is pleased to unveil his latest effort, 'Modern Artillery,' a seven track EP which serves as the inaugural release from the Swedish/Dutch-based Hip-Hop consortium, Elite Fleet Records. As part of Rawkus Records' dream team roster, which included label-mates Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Company Flow and Pharoahe Monch, among others, Shabaam was part of Hip-Hop's most influential independent rise of the mid-to-late '90s. A founding member of DJ Spinna's Polyrhythm Addicts, Sahdeeq found a career resurgence in the mid 2000's with the release of the group's sophomore LP, 'Break Glass.' Over the next several years, Shabaam would go onto release quite a few independently launched projects through various labels, including his own Marvial Entertainment imprint, all of which led up to his most acclaimed solo effort to date, 'Keepers of the Lost Art,' which was released in april of 2014, via Below System Records. On the heels of the release of Lost Art, the '5 Star General' emcee has joined forces with Elite Fleet Records for the release of, 'Modern Artillery,' a seven track EP, produced entirely by the Dutch-based beatsmith, Big Ape. Ape's bouncy, basement style production is well suited for Shabaam's precise rhyme schemes, that are complimented with the handy work Elite Fleet's own, DJ Devastate. Featured on the EP are Outerspace, Ruste juxx, Reef the Lost Cauze, Torae, 8thW1, and the late PH (Pumpkin Head). Set for an October 13th release date, where the album will become available for download through all major digital retailers, 'Modern Artillery' will also be available on cassette in limited quantity as part of Cassette Store Day, 2015 (Oct. 17), as well as a limited quantity vinyl pressing (release date: tbd).

Unstoppable Knight (feat. Kam & MC Eiht) - Don't Mean Nuthin' (prod. by Bird)

10/7/2015
In promotion for Unstoppable Knight's long awaited debut LP, 'I Remain Unvanquished,' the Amsterdam-based rapper/singer/producer is pleased to present the project's debut leak, "Don't Mean Nuthin'," which features legendary Cali emcees, Kam ("Peace Treaty," "Every Single Weekend") and MC Eiht. 'I Remain Unvanquished' is now available for purchase on iTunes, exclusively in The Netherlands, and will be available to all remaining worldwide territories through all major digital retailers on Friday, October 16th! iTunes (The Netherlands): http://apple.co/1Nz7BAq Unstoppable Knight - 'I Remain Unvanquished (Invictus Maneo)': Geography be damned, the global reach of Hip-Hop is always growing and becoming more powerful. The culture’s impact and ability to influence artists the world over is immense, and that’s made evident by one of the funkiest, West Coast-to-the-core albums released this year—by an artist from the Netherlands named, Unstoppable Knight. The rapper-producer’s full-length debut, 'I Remain Unvanquished (Invictus Maneo),' is unapologetically steeped in the genre-defining gangsta rap of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. A big reason for that is the guest lineup, which boasts a number of the era’s O.G.’s. Kam and MC Eiht appear on instant standout “Don’t Mean Nuthin’,” while RBX serves as the album’s narrator. He provides even more depth than already present through the rhymes of Unstoppable Knight, whose verses round out exactly what you want from a debut. He’s equally deft at welcoming you to a party (“Lovin These Nights”) as he is at taking you on a tour of his come up (“Bottom 2 Da Top”) with some help from West Coast rap giant, Kokane. The production across the album’s 14 tracks is sonically rich and doused in funk, and remains impressively cohesive no matter who’s behind the boards. “Better Life” absolutely bangs, thanks to Compton producer DeVille G. Gotti, while “The Right Time” and “Let’s Go” bounce with summery, feel-good vibes from Philly Dex and Peter Pernet, respectively. It’s also worth noting that Unstoppable Knight co-produced one third of IRU alongside Da Beast. Above all else, 'I Remain Unvanquished' is a strong reminder that the spirit of G-funk is alive and well—you may just have to look in an unexpected place to find it. The album drops Oct. 16 via Knight’s own Y.A.P. Muzik imprint….stay tuned! Tracklist: 01. Intro (feat. Rbx) [prod. by DeVille G Gotti] 02. Better Life (feat. Kam & Embishun) [prod. by DeVille G Gotti] 03. The Right Time (feat. Petey Blink & Philly Dex) [prod. by Philly Dex] 04. Sunshine On My Mind (prod. by Bird) 05. Let's Go (prod. by Peter Pernet) 06. Get It

10/5/2015
TEAMBACKPACK.NET Premiere: http://bit.ly/1O0bxJ2 Brooklyn rap stalwart Shabaam Sahdeeq’s impressive, two-decade-long run of releases continues to grow stronger with certified slapper “Get It,” the lead single off his new 'Modern Artillery' EP. You’d think spending 20 years in the game would tire an MC out, right? Absolutely not, and Sahdeeq proves that as he bullies his way through a playful beat from the Amsterdam-based producer, Big Ape. He weaves together bright bursts of bells and chopped-up guitars into a boom-bap instrumental primed for his rapping collaborator, who’s getting his by any means necessary. Amid braggadocio and sharp bits of personal advice for anyone listening, Sahdeeq delivers a raw mission statement on what you can expect from his upcoming project: “Want that pure-pure? S-Dub’s supplyin’ it/ So when you hear that bullshit, you ain’t even buyin’ it.” The 'Modern Artillery' EP is due out Oct. 13 via Dutch/Swedish label Elite Fleet Records. Four days later, tape heads can pick up a copy for their decks as part of Cassette Store Day. Press Release (PRLog): http://bit.ly/1LSI4vX Video Trailer: https://youtu.be/W5fzA8poiTE Tracklist: 01. Dirt Disciples (feat. Rick Gonzalez & Chuuwee) - Life Is Good

10/4/2015
Ambrosia for Heads Premiere: http://bit.ly/1jKluzb New York rap tag-team Rome Clientel and DJ Concept are back with another ill preview of their upcoming 'The Ambition EP,' in the form of “Life is Good.” It’s a feel-good burner featuring raw guest verses from actor-turned-rapper, Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) and Sacramento, Cali spitter, Chuuwee. Just as they did on previous single “Panoramic,” the duo and their guests throw a new coat of paint to a rap staple on here. While that track flipped a familiar sample from a certain Wu-Tang chef, “Life is Good” arrives with a nod to Biz Markie classic “The Vapors” on the hook: “Damn it feels good to see people up on it.” Indeed, and it also feels good to hear that line again, particularly over such sublime, strings-laden production from DJ Concept. Go ahead and give the track a listen, and then head over to iTunes where the track is now available for 'Instant Grat' off the pre-order link. 'The Ambition EP' is due out this Friday, Oct. 9 through Soulspazm. Men of Respect (feat. PH, Torae & 8thW1)

10/1/2015
After laying down his career goals with “Get It,” Shabaam Sahdeeq enlists three Tri-state bruisers for new single “Men of Respect.” It features Jersey City’s 8thw1 along with Sahdeeq’s fellow Brooklynites Torae and the late PH (aka Pumpkinhead) who tragically passed away earlier this year. “Men of Respect” closes out Sahdeeq’s soon-coming EP, Modern Artillery, and it does so with a celebratory air. That’s partly due to the heat supplied by Big Ape, whose sample-flipping instrumental blends perfectly with DJ Devastate’s scratch-laden hook. Their backdrop makes for a slick complement to the four MCs on the track, each adding their own artistry and batch of charisma. They swap bars about the finer points of fashion, embarrassing their contemporaries, and finding inspiration in seeing Obama in the White House. Its sound may be upbeat, but “Men of Respect” is also a sobering reminder of just how much hip-hop misses PH. That being said, his fans, family, and friends can at least find solace in his work on here and within his rich catalogue. 'Modern Artillery' hits all major digital retailers on Oct. 13 via Elite Fleet Records. Limited cassette copies will be available on Oct. 17 (aka Cassette Store Day) while a vinyl pressing is scheduled for the near future. • Previous: https://soundcloud.com/diamondmedia360/get-it • Video Trailer: https://youtu.be/W5fzA8poiTE • iTunes Pre-Order: http://apple.co/1iYQsDw • Press Release (PRLog): http://bit.ly/1LSI4vX Tracklist: 01. TouchaMill & FR Eazzy - "No Chill"

9/26/2015
Brownsville’s own RoRo Life Entertainment believe they’re the next powerhouse set to make waves in the music industry, and it’s difficult to deny that claim after listening to their adrenaline-packed new single, “No Chill.” The track arrives two years after the formation of RoRo Life Ent., which was established with the ideals of loyalty, authenticity, and teamwork. When founding members Vine, Jda, and Supreme started the crew in 2013, it was more of a way of life with its own slang, clothing style, and code of conduct. It was also a means of flipping the negatives of their surroundings into a wholly positive experience for everyone involved. “No Chill” introduces the group’s frontline of rappers, TouchAMill and FR Eazzy, who provide huge doses of energy and freshness with their approach. “No Chill” stems from the crew’s upcoming mixtape, 'RoRo Land,' which is coming soon! XL (Sadat X & El Da Sensei) - "We Must Stand" (prod. by 9th Wonder)

9/14/2015
Ambrosia for Heads Premiere: http://bit.ly/1ibnHCt Fans of East Coast rap stalwarts Sadat X and El Da Sensei have been anticipating something collaborative from the duo known as XL for several years, and it’s finally come to fruition today with the first hint of their group titled release, a non-album standout in "We Must Stand." If the soul-sampling production here sounds at all familiar, that’s because it’s handled by none other 9th Wonder. The North Carolina producer laced these two living legends with pure, neck-snapping fire that they use to kick knowledge about their worldwide travels, staying independent in a shady industry, and simply keepin’ it movin’. And you better stick around for the final verse, where the two MCs trade bars before giving way to Belgian turntablist, DJ Iron’s track-closing cuts. If “We Must Stand” has you craving more from these two, don’t sleep on their most recent solo ventures, Sadat’s Never Left LP and El’s Try Again EP. Dirt Disciples (feat. Torae) - Panoramic

9/7/2015
New Noise Magazine Premiere: http://bit.ly/1OfovnC If you’re flipping a classic rap sample for a new track, you damn well better do it justice. Well, that’s exactly what we’re getting here on “Panoramic,” the menacing new single from NY duo Dirt Disciples that’ll inspire thoughts about a certain Hip-Hop chef. You have to hand it to one half of this gritty rap tag team, DJ Concept. The Long Island rep provides the listener with a taste of nostalgia while injecting a brooding sensibility via a snarling bassline. His rhyming collaborator is no slouch either, as Elmira, NY’s Rome Clientel bodies his competition with dead-eyed, no-bullshit bars. And you have to love this callback to pro wrestling’s glory days: “The Tito Santana of rap/ Hop the top turnbuckle, wave my arms, drop kick to the back/ Motherf*ckers.” The New York connection only grows stronger with a guest verse from Coney Island native, Torae. He closes out the track in high fashion, gritting his teeth and spitting bars reminiscent of Jay Z classic, “So Ghetto.” Dirt Disciples’ The Ambition EP impacts October 9th via Soulspazm. In addition to Torae, the project boasts collaborators such as actor/gifted rapper Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) and Sacramento indie rap prince, Chuuwee. iTunes (Pre-Order): apple.co/1jKyg0B Previous: https://soundcloud.com/dirt-disciples/heartless Twitter: • Dirt Disciples: https://twitter.com/dirtdisciples • Rome Clientel: twitter.com/RomeClientel • DJ Concept: twitter.com/concept1200 • Torae: twitter.com/Torae

Collie Buddz - "Like Yuh Miss Me"

8/30/2015
The FADER Premiere: http://bit.ly/1O0LqSD Collie Buddz follows a string of successful one-off singles and collaborations with "Like Yuh Miss Me," a sexed-up banger that'll make you wish summer was sticking around for another few months. The Bermuda-raised artist blends the bedroom with the dancefloor on this undeniable catchy romp anchored by Johnny wonder and Loud City Music's production. Backed by soaring synthesizers and addictive percussion, Buddz utilizes his trademark melodic vocals to ask his girl to "f**k me like yuh miss me/ pretend it's been about 10 years now." It may seem direct—and it is!—but this is a guy who lives his life on the road and, no doubt, misses that good love he can only get at home. It's a sentiment anyone who's travelled for work or been in a long distance relationship can relate to. You can stream "Like Yuh Miss Me" via the link below. It's the final preview of Buddz' forthcoming 'Blue Dreamz EP,' a seven-track project due out this Friday, Sept. 4 on Louder Than Life/Sony Music. And on that same day, he'll take the stage at Hot 97's annual On The Reggae & Soca Tip, the station's biggest Caribbean show.

The project finds the longtime underground legend lending his distinctive, Brownsville-bred grimy vocals over Phazes’ rich tracks full of dramatic pianos, rich bass-lines, swinging horns and hard drums. The A-side includes the main passes, comprised of four original tracks with the addition of the Small Professor Remix for ”Murdah Type Thinkin (feat. Guilty Simpson).” For this special edition rerelease, Coalmine has also added the Divided Souls Ent. & DJ Pain 1 Remix of “Land of the Crooks,” which was only previously made available on the label’s remix compilation, ‘Remineded,’ which first dropped back in January of 2015. The B-side includes the instrumental passes of all of the original tracks, as well as the Small Pro Remix, in addition to the “Crookapella,” which includes various scratch stems taken from the EP, in addition to various isolated drum sounds, sound effects, and acapella of the “Land of the Crooks” single. Additional features on LOTC include Roc Marciano, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.), Maffew Ragazino, Loudmouf Choir and the Dilated Junky, DJ Babu. Vinyl is manufactured on a blue and green swirled configuration, limited to just 500 Units, and comes complete with the Andres Guzman designed artwork, inspired by the vintage ‘80s movie, ‘Crocodile Dundee.’ Sean Price was Hip-Hop’s Gray Hulk, a barbarian with the pen, with the sharpest of wits. Artifacts - Easter (prod. by Khrysis)*Now Available on Vinyl!

3/26/2012
7-Inch Vinyl (Fat Beats): http://bit.ly/EasterVinyl Coalmine Records is excited to announce the limited-edition vinyl release of the Artifacts’ highly regarded 2012 single, “Easter,” which marked the group’s first official release in more than 15 years. Initially released as a digital single on April 3, 2012 (the Tuesday before Easter Sunday), the track later appeared on Coalmine’s decennary compilation, 'Unearthed,' which dropped May 13, 2014. However you heard it—one thing was very clear: despite their time apart, Artifacts emcees Tame One and El Da Sensei sounded as fresh as ever on “Easter.” The New Jersey rappers’ venomous flows are boosted by the neck-breaking production of acclaimed North Carolina producer Khrysis. Making the cipher complete is the turntable work of DJ Dutchmaster, who provides the scratch hook and outro cuts. With this release, “Easter” makes its grand return in the physical form in a limited-edition white vinyl pressing that also includes the instrumental track on the flip. It also takes things back to the old-school by way of a front jacket hole that exposes the label (the heads know what’s up).
