The Jazz Notes

The Jazz Notes have a new podcast formula! I cover four games this episode. The first one with the loss against the Washington Wizards, then three straight wins against the Tampa Bay Raptors, Chicago Bulls, and Brooklyn Nets. The Jazz had their issues in the first two, but got to find themselves again against the Bulls and the star-less Nets. We are back from the All-Star break and ready to take on the second half of the season! The rust really showed through our new green jerseys, Houston decides to take the almost bare-minimum required players to Utah, but they almost comeback from a 23-point deficit to make this game interesting. Our Utah Jazz bounce back and record a franchise-record 3PM on the Hornets (again). Defense decides to take a first half vacation, our bench show up big this game, and the end of the 3rd to the middle of the 4th--the Jazz play their best basketball all night. Another great Jazz winning streak comes to an end (again). The Jazz fell victim to a poor shooting start (again), the Clippers find success in the paint while shutting down passing lanes (again), and the Jazz comeback in the second half (again) but this time falls short. Our Utah Jazz face the LA Clippers in Los Angeles for the first game of two for the Top 3 teams in the NBA. Aggressiveness takes over the game as neither offenses stay consistent, Rudy and Mitchell lead the way on both the offensive and defensive end, and the Jazz finally are able to pull away from this in the last quarter. The Jazz couldn't stop anything in the paint early, the threes finally drop to keep the Jazz in this contest, and Jordan Clarkson all but solidifies his 6th Man of the Year award. Our Utah Jazz beat a streaking Bucks team to earn the best mark at 26 games in Jazz history. Very aggressive game from both sides all game, Joe Ingles ties his career high for the 6th time, and for the 8th time in NBA history (1st time in Jazz history)--four players on the same team score 25+ points. Our Utah Jazz return home to face a good Celtics team that is finishing their road trip. Hot offensive start for both teams is followed by a defensive cooldown, Mitchell and Brown duel it out on the offensive end, then the Jazz finally were able to pull ahead with a few minutes left into the game. ***ALL-STAR GAME RANT ALERT*** Our Utah Jazz head to Charlotte for a back-to-back and show the sluggishness early, then they clamp down on defense and build a comfortable lead, but the Hornets would not go away and make it a close game in the fourth. Our Utah Jazz start our mini road trip against the Trae-less Atlanta Hawks and continue to surprise the league. Both teams start off very cold but aggressive on defense, the Jazz wake up after the half thanks to Conley and Clarkson, and the Jazz continue their impressive defensive stance for another blowout win. Our Utah Jazz return to Salt Lake City and were able to squeak out a win that was closer than it should've been. Mitchell takes complete control of the game on the offensive end, Gobert is left to guard three guys in the paint all game, and the Pistons pull within four after the Jazz constantly had a 20+ lead all game. All streaks must come to an end. The Nuggets were on fire in the first half (especially Jokic), the Jazz just couldn't stop the offensive Nuggets firepower, and the comeback in the third quarter fell flat in the fourth.
