04 - Dino Nosella

10/23/2023
In this episode of The Runderful Podcast, we are talking with @The905runner , Dino Nosella! Dino is not only an incredibly dedicated runner who you may frequently see racing and supporting runners in the Greater Toronto Area, but he is also a devoted family man and father. We chat about his running beginnings, starting in middle school cross country and track and field and then to his first marathon attempt at the NYC Marathon. He shares about a particularly vulnerable moment in his running career when he experienced his very first DNF at the Mississauga Marathon earlier this year. And we chat about his bounce back race (because we love a good comeback on our show!) at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon this past Fall. Dino shared how his perspectives have changed, not only about running but also about life, and he shares how his family and in particular, fatherhood, affects what he does and the type of legacy that he wants to leave behind. Enjoy Episode 04 of The Runderful Podcast with Dino Nosella!

07 - Alex Cutulenco

"Never set limits for yourself". Alex Cutulenco (@cutulenco on IG) has gained a lot of attention lately as he is the Toronto runner who ran the entire length of the Toronto subway train line (known by many as the TTC), something that spans almost 100 km and the entire city. In this episode, Alex and I talk about how he got his start in running, how he came up with this seemingly unachievable TTC challenge and why he decided to attempt something that he could very well fail at. He takes us through the whole day of his almost 100 km run - what he ate, how he stayed focused, and we also discuss perseverance and how he leaned on teammates and friends to get him through the tough parts of his epic run. Alex drops some tips on what he thinks runners could do to improve and get faster and we even craft what could be his next challenge (speed climbing the CN tower anyone?). Enjoy my conversation with Alex Cutulenco!

06 - Ana Laura Fray

"Eres fuerte y poderosa" (You're strong and powerful). I think these words, that my next guest on the podcast uses as a mantra in life, training, and racing, describe her perfectly. Ana Laura Fray - @analau_77 on IG - is exactly that - strong and powerful. She is a masters runner who has completed 22 marathons over the her past 10 years of running. She has improved her marathon time from a starting point of 4:00 down to a PB of 2:46! And in our episode, she talks about it all! How she got started in running, tips on how she uses self-talk during tough points in a race, getting older and competing as a masters runner, and so much more. Ana is just a wealth of running knowledge, and she is so inspirational. Happy New Year and enjoy my first episode of 2023 with Ana Laura Fray!

In episode 5 of The Runderful Podcast, we are talking with JP Sebastian, @Jaypisrunning on IG! He also chats about an amazing feat that his team embarked on, an annual run called Run to MTL, where they, along with other teams, ran all the way from Toronto to Montreal! JP also recently completed, and crushed, the Philadelphia Marathon, so he talks about all things Philly, Rocky, and Cheesesteaks! Finally, JP and I bond over our shared love of pro wrestling! 03 - Vanessa Yu

Did you know that 90% of podcasts don't make it past episode 3? So, for this 3rd episode of The Runderful Podcast, I thought I'd release something special: The very first test recording that I made - with the hopes that I will absolutely be seeing all of you in Episode 4! For this very first recording, or pilot episode as I called it, I asked the very special, Vanessa Yu, a member of our very own Team Runderful to be my guest. We dove right into some great topics, including what success means to her, what techniques she used to build herself back out of a mental rut from a disappointing race, the role that sports psychology plays in her training, as well as how she deals with the comparison trap when training and racing. Enjoy my conversation with Vanessa!
