Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Has No Plot but a lot of Implausible Action

7/4/2023
This week Britney and Nicole discuss one of their favorite movies, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." Even though they enjoy the movie, they both realize there is a lot of cultural insensitivity and racism throughout, and oh yeah, it doesn't really even have a plot! There are so many actions scenes throughout this movie that have no plausibility and make no sense. No wonder Mythbusters tried so many myths from the franchise. The sisters discuss yet again another failed female character in Kate Capshaw's Willie Shaw, but gush about Ke Huy Quan's Shortround.

Little Nemo is a Fever Dream to Remember

6/27/2023
Britney and Nicole find out the hard way that recording an episode during a huge storm, is going to give them a few technical problems. But never fear, the sisters get through their discussion of this week's movie "Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland" pretty much unscathed...well, they do get into an epic disagreement about the words to King Morpheus's scepter incantation, so maybe not. They also discuss how the films plot mimics dreams and nightmares because it's all over the place and doesn't make much sense. The sisters also lament on another undeveloped female character, and try to figure out where Little Nemo get's the audacity to accept the role of Slumberland heir, when there is already a Princess in waiting.

The Last Unicorn Lightning Round

6/23/2023
Britney and Nicole are starting to find that thinking of questions for odd movies like, "The Last Unicorn", is difficult. But never fear, they got it and end up having an interesting conversation. They discuss mistakes from their past that have made them think: "yup, that was a choice!" The sisters agree on what band or musician would create the soundtrack to their life. And on a very funny tangent, they highly recommend not sneezing with your eyes open!

The Last Unicorn is NOT an Appropriate Movie for Children

6/20/2023
Britney and Nicole conclude that this week's movie, "The Last Unicorn" is not made for children! It's extremely creepy and weird, and had both of them scratching their head during several key moments. The sister's agree this unfortunately is another movie with a extremely stereotypical female lead character who can't save herself and wants to change herself for the love of a man. The movie deals with a lot of deaths and violence and...sexualized animal and plant characters?!? Yep, that was a choice the filmmakers made apparently! Britney and Nicole agree this movie is creepy, and wonder what exactly made them watch it so much as children?

The NeverEnding Story Lightning Round

6/16/2023
Another Lightning Round goes off the rails and is full of non stop giggles as Britney and Nicole discuss this weeks' movie, "The NeverEnding Story." The sisters try to determine if they would be able to pass through the oracles gates for being pure of heart, if they would be able to save the world on an epic quest, discuss their dream fantasy worlds and give each other their very own "Moon Child" name.

The NeverEnding Story is Another Quest with No Direction

6/13/2023
Britney and Nicole continue their "movies that scared us that shouldn't have" month with the 1980s classic: "The NeverEnding Story." It's very clear from the beginning that Britney has several issues with this movie, and the sisters admit that they honestly couldn't catch the names of a majority of the characters. They grimace about how this is another movie that sends a young child to save a world with absolutely no instructions. But they are pleasantly surprised that this movie didn't escape the classic overdramatic and out of place 80s synth soundtrack.

The Labyrinth Lightning Round

6/9/2023
We have quite a funny lightning round for this week's movie, "The Labyrinth." Britney and Nicole discuss their favorite characters (and make it very clear which character they don't like!), their conversation about what the smell of their personal "Bog of External Stench" goes into creepy territory really fast, and they decide would they go into the Labyrinth to save each other or their brother?

The Labyrinth is as Weird as David Bowie's Tight Pants

6/6/2023
Britney and Nicole disagree on whether this week's movie, "The Labyrinth" belongs in this months category of "movies that scared us, that shouldn't have". Nicole admits to finding the movie boring and fast forwarding several sections, while Britney feels the movie wasn't as scary as she thought it was as a kid. One thing they agree on is that the main character is overdramatic and annoying, and David Bowie's pants are way too tight!

The Dark Crystal Lightning Round

6/5/2023
Some movies are great lightning round fodder, and then some movies are "The Dark Crystal." Britney and Nicole discuss their scariest scene, which character they are most like, and air their feelings about Hollywood's obsession with reboots.

The Dark Crystal is Creepy and Makes No Sense

5/30/2023
This week's movie "The Dark Crystal" will go down in Movie Night with the Youngs as the fastest: "is it nostalgia or does it hold up" conclusion EVER! Britney and Nicole talk about how confusing they found this movie. What exactly is the plot, and why is every creature in this movie moving so slow? Like glacially slow! The sisters compliment the production design and the puppets, and Britney comes to realize one character she was scared of as a child, may be the most relatable character in the entire movie! Oh, and real life sneaks in again as the sister's get interrupted by a visitor and a group text from their mom!

Return to Oz is Nightmare Inducing and Not Meant for Children

5/16/2023
New month, means new theme: Movies that Scared Us, That Shouldn't Have. And boy do we have a dozie this week! Britney and Nicole watch the 1985 movie "Return to Oz" and yikes, is this movie creepy! The sisters discuss how the movie's music score and production design sounds and looks more like District 12 from "Hunger Games" than the whimsy of Oz. They talk about how the headless Princess Mombi scared them just as much as adults as she did when they were kids. And they question how this movie was ever marketed to children when it's absolutely nightmare inducing! It's horrifically obvious Dorothy is no longer in Kansas!

The Little Mermaid Tells Us to Change Who We Are for a Man

4/25/2023
Britney and Nicole are usually pretty good at retaining what they saw in each week's movie, but for some reason with "The Little Mermaid" a lot didn't stick. However, the sisters did pick up on the classic Disney tropes of characters only having one parent or none at all, and Disney princesses who are desperately wanting to find adventure elsewhere but instead end up settling for falling in love and marrying some man. Ariel might be the worst offender yet! Britney and Nicole also discuss Sebastian's many job titles, Mermaid contract legality and wonder if King Triton is also a sea witch because of his magical powers.

Aladdin Lighting Round

4/21/2023
This week's lightning round for "Aladdin" is filled with lots of laughs and Britney and Nicole learn a few new things. They solve the question from this week's earlier episode of what exactly the Cave of Wonders told Aladdin he couldn't touch. They tell each other what they would wish for if they had a magic genie. And wonder if there is a weight limit on the magic carpet? Britney also teaches Nicole about the Mandela Effect. Don't say our podcast isn't educational!

Aladdin Deserves that Disney+ Content Warning

4/18/2023
We are starting to see a disturbing pattern with these Disney classic movies: lots of violence! This week's movie "Aladdin" fits the bill, so much so that Disney+ even begins the movie with a content warning. Often times Britney and Nicole seem to have similar thoughts about each week's movie, but this week it's almost like they are sharing one brain. They discuss their thoughts on why Jasmine has to get married, why another Disney movie has characters without parents and get into a heated discussion on whether or not the Cave of Wonders said "touch nothing" or "touch nothing, but the lamp!"

The Lion King: Lightning Round

4/14/2023
This Lightning Round is full of Hakuna Matata! Britney and Nicole ask each other random questions about this week's movie "The Lion King." The Lion King is One Big Murder Plot

4/11/2023
It wouldn't be a Disney classic if someone didn't die, huh? Britney and Nicole really see how committed Disney is to that plot device in this week's movie "The Lion King." The sisters talk about how emotional this movie made them, and how for the first time they picked up on all the inspirational and prophetic life lessons Mufasa instilled in Simba. The sisters clearly missed those as kids, but this time around as adults they caught on. They also caught on to just how many murder plots are planned throughout the film. Isn't this supposed to be about a loving family of lions? Why so much death Disney?!?! No notes about the amazing soundtrack though!
