Gerry's story, Primroses, which won the 2005 International Cuírt Award for new writing at Galway Arts Centre, Ireland - read by actress, Kate O’Toole, daughter of Peter O’Toole, at the award ceremony in Charlie Byrne’s bookshop, Galway. An elderly man comes to the rescue of a young girl, who is very grateful and wants to help him plant primroses in the garden. All innocent enough, but his daughter can see how things might look to outsiders. As he wrestles with the problem, long-dormant memories come flooding back and, eventually, he makes his mind up.
