So I am a mechanic, translates to ‘Soy mechanico’ for men and ‘soy mechanica’ for woman. The only change in this case is that you say ‘el’ for male nurses and ‘la’ for female nurses. El and la are the words for the in Spanish. Read this show and check spellings on our website, which is www.wordoftheday.es.tt Today's word is Abogado, which means barrister or lawyer. For example, soy abogado, which means I’m a lawyer. With occupations, it is important to remember that when saying your occupation, in Spanish you do not say I’m a doctor; you simply say I’m doctor. So, we do not say soy UN abogado. We simply say Soy abogado. Since this word is a noun, the ending changes if the word is talking about a man or woman. So in the masculine form, abogado is correct. But if you are talking about a female lawyer, you need to say abogada. So she is a lawyer translates to Ella es abogada.
