05/05/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown –God gave Israel the Mosaic Law for one purpose:To reveal sin and condemn. The law was intended to reveal our need for salvation.The law was added because of transgressions “until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made.” Jesus fulfilled the Law. The law was given by God to Moses through angels but the promise was given by God alone.

04/28/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – We look at three ways that Christians today answer the question – How does the Old Testament law relate to New Testament believers. We also find six purposes that the Law was given in Galatians and other passages.

04/21/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown -The apostle Paul anticipates the probable argument his adversaries, the Judazers, would likely make against what he had just proved. The heart of his answer is to show that the covenant with Abraham was an unconditional covenant of promise relying solely on God’s faithfulness, whereas the covenant with Moses was a conditional covenant of law relying on man’s faithfulness.

04/14/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – After proving that Justification by works of the Law is impossible due to the merciless demands of the law, Paul explains that it is also unnecessary because believers have a substitute, a Messiah who was cursed for us. Paul proves that Jesus was a Cursed Messiah and we look in OT passages to see the need for a representative (Gen 3:15; Job 9:1-3 and 32-35; the picture of the substitute (Lev. 16), and the prophecy of the substitute (Isaiah 53).

04/07/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Paul justifies the doctrine of justification by faith: The effect of the Law. Paul shows that the law is not our friend but instead our accuser that makes justification by works of the law an impossibility.

3/24/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – the Example of Abraham The blessing of the gospel – salvation and justification – is extended to the nations through faith in the same way as it was extended to Abraham, the believer.

3/17/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Weak faith becomes mature faith.Weak faith still saves. Disobedience or partial obedience has consequences. Paul refers to Abraham to prove that justification is by faith alone by showing that Abraham’s faith preceded circumcision by demonstrating the foolishness of trying to supplement faith in order to gain standing with God.

3/03/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – Paul brought Abraham into the discussion because no doubt the Judaizers used Abraham as certain proof that circumcision was necessary to please God and become acceptable to Him. What Paul is saying here quoting Genesis 15:6, “6just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness” is that they had conveniently ignored the fact that Scripture precisely ascribed righteousness to Abraham by faith and that God commanded Abraham to be circumcised many years after He had counted Abraham to be righteous because he believed God?”

02/11/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown –In this lesson we looked at one of the most precious truths in all of Scripture, the doctrine of the believer’s union with the Lord Jesus Christ. We are placed in a spiritual union with Jesus in the historical event of his death and resurrection, in which the Penalty of sin was paid in full.
