I was very excited to talk to Michael about the new lure he has developed called the Dagger. A very unique swimbait - shad type lure. Knowing Michael and his knowledge and attention to detail in his lure development I know this lure is going to be something special. We also look back on the success of the Lance and Sabre Evo lures and get an insight into how Michael developed the dagger. A really fascinating insight into Michaels world of lure making and we chat about the bass fishing of course, enjoy.

In this episode if the Lure Fishing Podvast i chat with David Lyons from Tackling Minds. Tackling minds was formed in February 2020 David Lyons was inspired to start Tackling Minds, as he had suffered from past mental health problems, and fishing played a vital role in him managing his illness. He claims that if it wasn’t for fishing, he doesn’t think he’d be here to tell his story. David now wants to pass on his knowledge, gained from his own experiences, to show other people how fishing can benefit them too. And so, sitting on the bank with his rods in his hands, Tackling Minds was born. Tackling Minds aims to get people, from all walks of life, into fishing. Be it, Mental Health, Social Deprivation, addiction and recovery, disabilities, Families and Long-Term Health. The work Tackling Minds has done so far is amazing. The NHS now prescribes fish as a treatment for depression on the NHS as a direct result of Tackling Minds. This is a lovely conversation with a great guy very worth a listen.

It was then Drift was born and fast forward to 2024 Drift Lures are with over 100 tackle suppliers in the UK and Ireland. Matt is passionate about his lure fishing and he gives a great insight into what it takes to get from concept stage to actual designing and creating a lure that not only works well but is durable and affordable. If you have ever though about designing your own lure as many of us have, this is a really interesting conversation. Matt is very passionate about his lure making and shares some of the vast knowledge that he has gained through the designing and testing of his lures. David's first book was published in 2008 (Beneath the Surface) and he has featured in many magazine articles, both nationally and internationally, including Trout & Salmon, Angler's Mail, Angling Times, Sea Angler and The Field. His paintings have also featured on the Environment Agency Rod Licence in the UK since 2008 and in 2014 ten of his images were used on a specially commissioned set of Royal Mail stamps.
