Learning to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

11/24/2023
Multitasking exhausts you? You really need the episode I’d like to share an interview experience with a CEO beforehand that contained some meaningful tips as you were handling multiple projects at the same time. The CEO just laid out the challenges their team faces as business scales. With a customer base of up to 100 users and only two project managers, the pressure is mounting. Immediate change requests, bugs, feature enhancements – it feels like an endless nightmare. Was it similar to your situations? Always have to handle multiple requests, and many stakeholders see their requirements as the top priorities. However, resources are limited, and you are forced to make tough decisions to get things done. Now, if you're wondering how to navigate this chaos, I strongly suggest you take some time to listen to this episode, I would tell you how to manage up to six projects, deal with endless requests, and struggle to satisfy everyone's demands with a team of just three individuals. But here's the game-changer: the secret isn't about doing more; it's about focusing on outcomes, not outputs. And in this episode, we unlock the strategies to do just that. 👉 Categorize Issues for Maximum Impact 👉 Importance-Urgency Matrix 👉 Quantify Team Productivity I am confident to tell you that the core mindset would help you open another door to achieving maximum value of projects, and successfully gaining credits from stakeholders. Balancing technical knowledge with broader project management skills

11/10/2023
Your Inner Struggling As Transitioning to A Project Manager From A Software Engineer In the world of project management, there's a prevailing notion that project managers must be technical wizards, fluent in the language of coding and development. While technical knowledge is undoubtedly valuable, it's not the only ingredient for effective project management. I once stood at the crossroads of this transition, grappling with the fear of losing touch with the ever-evolving technological landscape. The shift from hands-on technical tasks to overseeing the big picture can be challenging. Balancing expectations from various stakeholders, including your team members, is a complex dance. And the challenge of gaining the trust and respect of your technical team as their leader can feel like scaling a formidable wall. If these doubts have ever crossed your mind, then this episode is tailored for you. As an ever technical project manager, I'll provide you with 3 actionable tips to help you navigate this transition successfully. 👉 Engage with Technical Team 👉 Empower Team Autonomy 👉 Apply Agile Methodologies By following these practical steps, you'll gradually realize that as a project manager, you need technical awareness rather than technical skills. As I've learned from my own experiences and the wisdom of others, technical knowledge is just one piece of the puzzle. Gaining the Trust and Respect of The Development Team As a Former Peer

10/27/2023
No Trust, No Communication As I went on my journey as a technical project manager, my initial concerns weren't centered around project logistics or timelines. Instead, I found myself pondering a crucial question: how do you cultivate genuine relationships with your technical team? As many project managers rely on their past experiences to guide them, it became clear that this might not be enough, especially when faced with teams working in established patterns. Perhaps you've faced similar challenges – feeling that your team is becoming increasingly detached, or hearing a reluctant silence during sprint retrospectives. One mentee shared his experience as the sole manager of a development team burdened with unexpected customer demands. As time passed, the team's enthusiasm decayed, a pattern that resonates with anyone who's seen their guidance met with indifference. How do you bridge the trust gap, and earn the respect your role demands? I am sharing 3 essential steps to help you achieve just that. 👉 respect their expertise 👉 be a problem solver 👉 set clear expectations These 3 tips aren't just theoretical concepts; they're tried-and-true practices that have transformed relationships within countless teams. As colleagues and friends approached me with their own trust-related issues, I shared these principles. Remarkably, their focus shifted, and their teams rallied behind them. It's a testament to the power of a manager who invests in building relationships – the simplest yet most vital ingredient for success. 💰Buy me a coffee. support me to generate more valuable agile contents https://ko-fi.com/ur_agile_coach Timeline 00:00 A project manager’s issue: Building relationships with the team 01:15 The value of the episode:3 tips to gaining trust with the team 02:12 Tips #1:respect their expertise 02:45 Tips #2:be a problem solver 03:09 Tips #3:set clear expectations 03:43 Testimonials from friends 04:07 Free, 1-1 online consulting service Follow me on other platforms for further updates. 🌟 Medium: https://reurl.cc/eXxrnK 🌟 Podcast: https://reurl.cc/6N284V 🌟 Instagram: https://reurl.cc/8qGkZd 🌟 Youtube: https://reurl.cc/n7yove 🌟 Twitter: https://reurl.cc/6N2835 🌟 Reddit: https://lnkd.in/g9QRZH8Q 🌟 FB: https://reurl.cc/Rv80vn Invitation | Consultancy email:urscrummaster@gmail.com or PM:@ur_agile_coach or reserve a web call on linktr Now I provide free 1–1 online consulting service. Build Shared Understanding, Not Shared Documents

10/13/2023
Build Shared Understanding, Not Shared Documents “Shared documents aren’t shared understanding” This comment motivated me to make up the episode to share my ideas of effective collaboration. I was once a software engineer, a scrum master, and a technical project manager. And I’d gone through some inefficient working models, especially writing detailed documents. I know many project manager might have been required to do that, in order for the engineers to deliver what customers want. However, does that really make their ideas consistent with each other? I am afraid not. Because individuals would have different ideas toward same product backlogs, and there is not an effective mechanism to trigger constructive dialogues. Furthermore, the team’s mindset is not customer-centric so that they probably don’t deliver things that customers really want. To solve the problem, I proposed 3 solutions as below, 👉 Story Point Technique 👉 User Story Mapping 👉 Stakeholder Involvement Well, I don’t deny the necessity of writing shared documents, but it is for supportive purpose. We should focus on face-to-face conversation to build shared understandings, so that members are able to think what they do from user perspectives. 💰Buy me a coffee. support me to generate more valuable agile contents https://ko-fi.com/ur_agile_coach Timeline 00:00 Problems project managers suffer from - unshared understanding to requirements 00:45 Motivation from a book《User Story Mapping》 01:46 The problems of shared documents 02:53 Principle of agile manifesto 03:52 Reason #1:lack of a mechanism to trigger effective dialogues 04:26 Reason #2:team mindset 04:42 Reason #3:not customer-centric 05:36 Solution #1:Planning Poker - Story Point Technique 06:07 Solution #2:User Story Mapping 06:40 Solution #3:Stakeholder Involvement 07:03 Pros of applying the above solutions 07:31 Consulting service Related Resources Story Point Technique:https://youtu.be/jmzoc7Co4L4 User Story Mapping:https://reurl.cc/zYd6np Follow me on other platforms for further updates. 🌟 Medium: https://reurl.cc/eXxrnK 🌟 Podcast: https://reurl.cc/6N284V 🌟 Instagram: https://reurl.cc/8qGkZd 🌟 Youtube: https://reurl.cc/n7yove 🌟 Twitter: https://reurl.cc/6N2835 🌟 Reddit: https://lnkd.in/g9QRZH8Q 🌟 FB: https://reurl.cc/Rv80vn Invitation | Consultancy email:urscrummaster@gmail.com or PM:@ur_agile_coach Now I provide free 1–1 online consulting service. Empower Your Team With The PRODUCT VISION

8/18/2023
Guide A Team Toward The Goals With A Product Vision Try to imagine, when you are dedicated to achieving some goals, what really motivated you to do that? When it comes to product development, there are not a few people talking about the ultimate vision they are going to build, but features they are going to craft. In fact, it is a wrong strategy to tell the team what to do first. Instead, tell them why they should do with a product vision, how to achieve it, and what to do. In this episode, I pointed out the principle of a product vision and give you 5 parts any product owners should take into account when they are building a product vision for the team. 🔑 Product Vision 🔑 Target Audience 🔑 Requirements (Pain Points) 🔑 Product 🔑 Business Goals If you could clearly state the 5 parts, the overall product vision is built for the team and the stakeholders, and they are more likely to innovate solutions for realization. And a product vision helps you bring primary 3 advantages. ✅ Alignment and Focus ✅ Decision-making and Prioritization ✅ Stakeholder Buy-in and Support To sum up, a product vision serves as a light house for a team when they are debating features or prioritizing items. They have an ultimate profile to help them clarify what is needed and what should be postponed. How to Become A Scrum Master WITHOUT Experience, Even NO Certifications

7/21/2023
For those who'd like to become a scrum master Economic recessions and the rise of artificial intelligence have disrupted traditional work patterns, leading to a need for professionals who can provide emotional and social value, areas where AI still struggles to match human capabilities. The role of a Scrum Master embodies these qualities, making it a highly sought-after position in the near future. However, I understand that many aspiring Scrum Masters encounter obstacles when applying for the job. Perhaps you've questioned whether your lack of relevant experience hinders your chances of success. It's a common concern, as organizations and hiring managers often prefer candidates with prior experience in agile environments or as part of Scrum teams. Additionally, you may have hesitated to pursue certifications upfront. Many job descriptions for Scrum Masters require candidates to hold certifications such as CSM or PSM, which involve attending training courses and passing exams. Furthermore, the limited job opportunities in certain locations or industries can be discouraging. While the demand for Scrum Masters continues to grow, finding suitable positions outside of tech-related industries can be a frustrating process. The competition is fierce, as individuals with agile experience or project management backgrounds vie for the same roles. If you've experienced any of these concerns, this episode is specifically designed for you. Don't miss out on the valuable insights I'm about to share. Today, I'll reveal how I transitioned from being a software engineer to becoming a Scrum Master. A Self-Organized Team Manages Themselves Without Instructions: A Classic Story in Service1st

The Secret To Motivate A Team To Get Self-Organized In this episode, we will discuss the importance of self-organization in teams, and what happens when a team is not self-organized. Many managers might have experienced the frustration of pushing a team's progress with much effort, but this can be avoided if the team is self-organized. Also, I am going to illustrate what happens when a team is not self-organized, using an example of a Scrum team that struggled due to its size and lack of cohesion. Finally, we will discuss the values we hope to deliver through this episode. Our aim is to help teams adopt an agile mindset, increase collaboration efficiency, and improve their ability to self-organize.
