The Christology Podcast: Jesus at the Center

Religion & Spirituality Podcas

The Christology Podcast: Jesus at the Center began to answer the question Jesus often asked and everyone around him disputed - "Who do you say that I am?" We want to challenge listeners to deeply consider this question, and its implications. Dave Nielsen (host), retired army Ranger and Delta Force Operator, featured in HBO's "War Dogs: A Soldier's Best Friend" and occasional Hollywood Military Consultant graduated with honors with a degree in theology from Regent University, where he then completed two years toward his Mdiv with a focus in biblical languages. Dave took a break to spend more time with his wife and kids, and to coach local High School and youth football as a heart and mind consultant, always coming back to "The Question" - who is Jesus. Laura (Miller) Nielsen, Dave's wife and longtime friend, also retired from the army completing 26 years! The last nine of those years were with the Unit as well, where she was the vet tech. Laura and Dave's stories are intertwined, they've shared every day together for nearly ten years. For a time they lived on a sailboat named "War Story" and enjoyed fishing in the Atlantic. God spoke through his word and Laura has her own unique story of coming to know Jesus. She is a wonderful step-mother to three, teaches pre-school full time, and earned a masters degree in business management. She has served several years on her church council, recently as chairperson, as well as several committees.

Relationships matter and sometimes break down. We recently took a planned two week spring break; this turned into being gone for a month from our podcast. We're back! And while we went through a very painful, unforeseen process of leaving our church, we did so (today) after months of prayer, fasting, and seeking guidance. Relationship is more important than agenda; purpose greater than programs of a church. Laura and Dave talk though this process, new changes on the horizon for CP, a new lab, hockey playoffs and more! We missed you all and so appreciate your support!

Watch the Dog

1/23/2024
Overview of a new 'series' in the Christology Podcast: Dave's podcast discussion with Origin K9's Tom Brown, Australian SOF, made it obvious how much our dogs (pets, workmates, etc) have an effect on our hearts and lives. This series will look into different aspects of this - losing a dog, what Scripture has to say about animals, the fact that Hebrew has a different word for "soulish" animals. How experience and epistemology, the study of how we know things, can work together to fill in these questions in our lives. This episode is an overview of the series and was recorded after the initial YouTube episode was filmed (sorry, lost the audio!).

The 1st Gate of Discernment

1/2/2024
or: A Helpful Tool for Decision Making and Peace of Mind. Using 1 Corinthians 13 the "love" chapter as a guide or gate to discern what love is - and is not. Small or large decisions, we can check where our heart is at with self-honesty. Running a decision through the process, we then compare our result to the "Christ Hymn" of Philippians 4:6-11 to see if it matches our Lord's actions and life. This all springs from Jesus's answer to the Pharisee's question about the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37-40. Using this process helps one have peace in making decisions.
