Stanley Broughton, Calumet's maintenance man, discusses Lundy's order to fix the bolts the morning after the accident at 9:00 am, the discarding of the original corroded bolts and the subsequent bracket repair. The controversy over whether Broughton may have accidentally or intentionally disturbed the original bolts is explored. The opinions of the prosecution's expert, Dr. George Pratt, are reviewed in light of Broughton's testimony. Questions about Calumet's security the night of the accident are raised. Michael Coulter, Alydar's groom at the time of the incident, relates what Alton Stone, the night watchman, told him the morning after Alydar's death about where he was and how long he was gone. Coulter also details his own observations of the stall door and hardware both before and after the accident, and how Alydar fell the second time.
