Chapter XIX: Flight Attendants’ Mental Health, Spring Break Travel, Looking Presentable, I Got A New Lunchbox

3/22/2024
Welcome BACK to the Flight Attendant Forum! Thank ALL of YOU for sticking with us as we continue to build out this platform and serve as a beacon for all things travel and a resource for all things aviation related. We are both so happy that YOU our listeners have found respite here when you need a good laugh, or a travel tip for your next vacation. This is only the beginning! This week Megan and i discuss the vital importance of caring not only for yourself but for the people around you in the best capacity that you can. Mental health amongst our demographic is certainly something that is overlooked and needs to be further highlighted. Our job can be littered with loneliness and it is an inherent challenge to fill the downtime that we have so much of. If you or anyone is suffering from any sort of depression or anxiety or just need to talk to someone, that can make monumental changes for the better. It’s ok to be not ok and sometimes I think it’s important to remind ourselves of that. Moreover, we covered what it is like working during spring break, dressing up (or down) when traveling, and a couple of other tidbits along the way. We hope you enjoy this new episode and we look forward as always giving you a behind the scenes look into our lives and so many that traverse the skies on a daily basis! What's cookin everyone! Welcome BACK to the flight attendant forum! If you are new the flight attendant forum, I want to offer a very warm welcome to you as this is a platform for flight attendants, pilots and all crew within the aviation industry! However, this also serves as a travel community whether you are voracious traveler or just someone who wants to know a little behind the scenes about what it is like working for an airline! This weeks episode, I delve into the recent events that occurred on Horizon Air Flight 2059 regarding a pilot who was riding on the jump seat in the cockpit and all details entailed within. While this weeks episode is a solo episode, I wanted to shine spotlight not only on what the likely vibe was during this emergency, but to highlight the importance of mental health in a career field that is mostly spent away from home. Moreover, I will be teaming up with Megan in the future as well as other friends/colleagues of mine to dissect this further. For now, I wanted to simply open up the can of uncomfortable worms, so to speak, regarding mental health and the impact it can have on being a flight attendant/pilot. Thanks for listening as always!! Chapter X: Airshows and All Things Aviation From The Museum Of Flight

10/9/2023
Hello! Welcome BACK to the Flight Attendant Forum! Thank you ALL SO much for those who have downloaded and listened to the FFF up to this point as chapter X comes to you on this weeks installment! I do apologize for the delay I know it is Monday for the release of this episode, I am doing the best I can to stay around the Friday uploads so bare with me! For this weeks episode, I was in Seattle, Washington at the absolutely stunning Museum of Flight! A bucket list item for me, it was imperative that I connected with someone who would be willing to come on the show and discuss all things aviation! Fortunately, Ted Huetter answered the call and was a gracious guest as we dove into all things flight. Moreover, Ted discussed his love for flying, air acrobatics, and connecting with the community. The museum has long yearned for a way to connect with the people of Seattle and recently they have helped bring in myriad local artists to display their pieces throughout the museum as a way to show their talents. In addition, the museum has curated events from fashion shows, drag brunches, and weddings. It is truly a place that can create life long memories as planes take off and land on premise just a few feet away. Some highlights of the museum include the first Boeing 747 ever built, the 3rd 787 ever built, and one of the only last standing supersonic Concorde jets in existence to this day ( that was my favorite). Over the next couple of weeks I look forward to bringing more stories and tidbits to you from my flying partners. If you would like to be part of the show please please reach out! Don't be shy! You can find me on instagram which is where the crux of all things show related will take place! If you have any questions or topics you want me to over please do not hesitate to reach out! Chapter IX: From Tenerife, Canary Islands

9/28/2023
What is up! Welcome BACK to the Flight Attendant Forum! This week Nick and i (who you heard from in chapter V) are coming to you from the captivating landscape that is the Canary Islands, in southern Spain. We chose this as a destination to visit and couldn't have been more stoked on everything the beautiful island of Tenerife has to offer to its travelers. In addition, (as if this was a surprise) we chose to come here because as flight attendants you do indeed have the world at your disposal so while sometimes the last thing we want to do is get back on a plane and go somewhere, options like these make it a little more palatable. Nick and I spent time summarizing our trip to Tenerife, got sidetracked a couple times, and glossed over what it is like being a standby traveler (for those of you who have experienced it). While we wanted to keep recording time was unfortunately not on our side as we needed to prepare for our journey back. If you want to hear more of Nick and I in future episodes please let me know. Either way this will not be the last time Nick is on the forum! We had a great time recording this short stack episode and hope to bring you other unique perspectives from places that we are currently traveling within or have been in the future! You can follow the show too! (and nick) Instagram: @_faforum @notdotnick Please reach out if you have any topics you want to hear in the future as well if you want to be on the show! Especially if you are local to the Chicago area! Cheers! Enjoy the weekend Talk soon :) Colin

9/13/2023
Hello! Welcome BACK to the Flight Attendant Forum! Apologies for the delay on the upload of this latest installment! Today I sit down with my good friend Megan as we come to you (semi) live from The Firebrand Hotel in Whitefish, Montana. We had been trying to get together for a long while now and bring you a fun, lighthearted episode to you! This will be part one as we have much more to dive into and dissect from each of our careers thus far, so keep an 👁 for that coming up soon! Moreover, we discussed a myriad of topics such as how you should expect to be treated by yours truly should I be your flight attendant one day, how Megan got started flying, and some little insider secrets about how we can manage to (try) and sleep whenever we can! Additionally, we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of crash pads and how they can be a lifeline to flight attendants who first start out fresh out of training! Thank you all SO so much who have listened to the forum and have continued to be repeat downloaders to this point. I cannot thank YOU enough! Enjoy today and everyday!
