In this week's episode, we have the pleasure of featuring Mashudu Mudau, an entrepreneur, creator, and youth entrepreneurship evangelist. Join us as we delve into Mashudu's captivating story, exploring his entrepreneurial ventures, upbringing, and experiences as a podcaster in South Africa. ๐ŸŒŸ Mashudu Mudau is an influential voice in the small business community, dedicated to connecting people and building platforms that empower African creators to grow. As the founder of Founders Sauce, Mashudu has championed the cause of entrepreneurship, while also serving as the podcast host at Lutcha. Additionally, he holds the position of Community Partnerships Manager at Yoco, a role that allows him to make a difference in the lives of entrepreneurs. Born and raised in Soweto in the early 90s, Mashudu's journey as an entrepreneur began early on. Despite not enjoying school, he was driven by his desire to make a social impact. He launched "Big Sister, Big Brother," a project that encouraged matric students to mentor grade eights. Even at that stage, Mashudu questioned the status quo, always seeking better solutions and striving for change. During his university years, Mashudu's restlessness with conventional studies led him to launch Paper Share, an online platform where South African students could access past exam papers for free. This experience introduced him to the entrepreneurship ecosystem and gave him the opportunity to engage with incubators and accelerators to refine his concepts. In 2017, Mashudu joined Yoco, his first formal job. What attracted him to Yoco was the company's focus on purpose over profit. Yoco's mission of empowering and improving the lives of entrepreneurs resonated with Mashudu's own purpose. He found fulfillment in helping small businesses think beyond their current limitations and realize their potential for growth and impact. While at YOCO, Mashudu became heavily involved in YOCOMeets, a networking event where entrepreneurs gather to discuss real-world challenges and find solutions collaboratively. The impact of this work and the broader platform provided by YOCO have further fueled Mashudu's passion for empowering individuals to take control of their entrepreneurial journeys. As he continues his entrepreneurial journey, Mashudu is launching Lutcha Africa, a larger podcast network that will cover diverse topics such as Pioneers vs Pretenders, Mental Health Awareness, Health and Nutrition, Pop Culture, and Current Affairs. With over 40,000 followers on social media, Mashudu's influence and impact continue to grow. His authenticity and dedication to serving others have attracted the right opportunities and connections. For Mashudu, the number of engaged listeners and the impact he has on their lives matter more than accumulating popularity. He values individuals who seek education and are genuinely invested in learning at a deeper level. His purpose-driven approach and ability to cut through the noise have been key to his success.
