It's Gonna Be May

4/29/2024
Grey and B_Don are back for another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. This week we talk about call ups Joey Loperfido (might as well listen to see how badly we mispronounce this one), Jordan Beck, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Matt Mervis. We discuss the early struggles of Wyatt Langford, and Jackson Holliday’s demotion. The Blue Jays have a couple strugglers in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette. On the positive side, Ranger Suarez is the #1 pitcher on the player rater, Jacob Young has the 5th most stolen bases as a part timer, and it might finally be Jo Adell time.

Then, we move on to Nolan Jones, Randy Arozarena, Blake Snell, Josh Hader, and other guys who have started the season slow.

Holliday At The Camden

4/16/2024
Grey and B_Don are here for another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. There’s a lost intro that was absolutely brilliant, Grey swats his mic, and find out who GREY compares to Bo Bichette this week. The big news of the week is that Jackson Holliday has made his way to Camden Yards. We talk about where he ranks for us the rest of the season overall and at SS (until he gets 2B eligibility) along with the a few other call ups and Tommy Pham signing with the White Sox. Next up, we move on to talk about some of the best players of the week. Colton Cowser and Elly De La Cruz showed why they were so highly thought of as prospects. Brice Turang, Jordan Westburg, and Sal Frelick were among the best hitters of the week, but do we think they can keep it going? Grey says he doesn’t have any fomo for not drafting Cole Ragans, and Bryce Miller has started his season off nicely. Nick Lodolo is back and his first start was amazing. We move on to discuss the injuries to Luis Robert Jr., Bobby Miller, Carlos Correa, Jake Burger, Cody Bradford, and others. We discuss their performance to this point and who might benefit from their absence. We wrap up with some bullpen talk and possible targets from your waiver wire.

Early Look At The 2024 Player Rater

4/7/2024
Grey and B_Don are here for another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast! This week is a bit of a downer as we go over all the big injuries from last week. A moment of silence for all the fantasy baseball owners of Spencer Strider, Shane Bieber, Eury Perez, and Trevor Story. After the injury talk, we move on to take an early look at the player rater for 2024. Podcast favorites Spencer Steer, Mookie Betts, and Adolis Garcia are off to great starts. What do we make of some of the others like Michael Conforto, Jarren Duran, and Tyler O’Neill, among others? Some more interesting names come up when we turn our attention to the pitching player rater. Brady Singer’s sweeper is yielding nice results early on. Are the Reid Detmers, Garrett Crochet, and Shota Imanaga breakouts underway? There’s also some less known names such as Cody Bradford and Ronel Blanco. Some pitchers are moving from the bullpen to starting jobs, and maybe there’s something to that adjustment that is yielding positive results. We wrap up the show with some saves SAGNOF talk and some players to look for on your waiver wires.

There's Baseball To Talk About

4/1/2024
Grey and B_Don are here with another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast, and this week, we have a full slate of baseball to talk about. Grey starts the show by getting some things off his chest like the Angels lineup and all the spring training narratives. Next up is the first week injury cases as we dream about what might have been with Royce Lewis on healthy legs. Can we get him some new legs like Lt. Dan? We talk about some early season FAAB and waiver wire targets. Are Brady Singer or Steven Matz trustworthy? Is Victor Scott or Trey Lipscomb worth a pickup? Then, we turn our attention to some bad starts from the pitching side and what we think about those guys for the season. We have our first game of Scientific Fact, Sex Panther, Or I Don't Believe You of 2024 as we look at some potential waiver wire/FAAB targets. Jared Jones, Zack Littell, Garret Crochet, Shane Bieber, and others had a strong first start of the season. Will Grey talk B_Don off the Conforto ledge or is Grey shimmy shimmy ya'ing his way out on the ledge too? Nick Martini and Oswaldo Cabrera hit the ground running, but can they be trusted? We finish up with some closer discussions.

Ohtani Still On The Table? Table, Not The Tables

3/25/2024
Grey and B_Don are back for this week’s episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. The guys start talking about Shohei Ohtani and everything going on around him right now. What do we think about his new teammate, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, first outing struggles? The duo don’t agree on how the players in the Korean games should be handled in drafts, but listen and tell us whose side you’re on. We talk about some of the prospects that were sent back down in Jackson Holliday and Paul Skenes. On a positive note, we talk about some of the youngsters who did make rosters like Jackson Chourio, Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Colton Cowser. Well, it’s a pre-season show right before the start of the season, so that means it’s time to talk about injuries: Gerrit Cole, Matt Mclain, TJ Friedl, Eury Perez, and a few top end closers in Jordan Romano, Jhoan Duran, and Devin Williams.

Fantasy Baseball Podcast - Grey's 2024 SP Rankings Pt

3/19/2024
Grey and B_Don are back as they continue with part 2 of Grey’s 2024 starting pitcher rankings on the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. Which one of these later SPs are we trusting and which ones are right for your build? We talk about a mix of exciting names like Bailey Ober, Bryce Miller, Hunter Brown, Michael King, Brandon Pfaadt, and others. We also talk about some of the pitchers to target if you’re looking to add some dependable innings like Jose Berrios, Nathan Eovaldi, Dane Dunning, Marcus Stroman, and the like. There’s also guys that fit somewhere in the middle and they have their spot in the ranks too. We wrap up the show with some targets you might look at for your deeper leagues.

Grey's 2024 SP Rankings Part 1

3/11/2024
Grey and B_Don continue the rankings previews with starting pitcher part 1 this week on the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. Come listen as I question the #1 ranker of 2023. We start the show with some draft philosophy talk on pitchers and how Grey looked at his rankings differently this year than previous years with the rule changes put in place by MLB. Right out of the gate, the guys have their own questions about even the first tier of SPs for 2024. We keep running down the list until we finally get to the area that Grey might actually shop for his SP1, and who he likes to fill his roster as SPs for the rest of the roster. We discuss some of the high helium players and whether we think they’re worth the current draft price. I’m a little disappointed in our move to pitching because I can no longer comp players to Bo Bichette and Ketel Marte.

Grey's 2024 OF Rankings Part 2

3/5/2024
Grey and B_Don continue their OF positional rankings for 2024 on this episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. Coming off of their only league draft, but not the first draft of the year (if you listen, this’ll make sense, maybe), the guys are ready to talk deep league OFs. We start with #41 in Grey’s rankings, but somewhere in the 20s probably in your heart, Masataka Yoshida. Was his 2nd half fatigue or the scouting report? Who will I compare to Bo Bichette this week? The next few outfielders explain how the deeper outfielders tend to be more about your team build. Ian Happ offers the last bit of power/speed and should offer both R and RBI. Both Steven Kwan and Brandon Nimmo are runs heavy, but one offers power almost exclusively and the other speed. We talk about which guys might be more predictable while others offer a chance for upside.

Grey's 2024 OF Rankings Part 1

2/26/2024
Grey and B_Don are back with this week’s episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. We continue our positional rankings with the first part of the outfield rankings. We talk about the top 40 OF (not onlyfans accounts you sick, sick people). Podcast favorite Adolis Garcia leads us off followed by the player that we may possibly have been the most skeptical about, Luis Robert Jr. Plenty of different skill sets among outfielders and we talk about what you might get from each of them. There’s a few guys that we are completely split on, and we each make our case for and against. We discuss the OFs that we think are a value in your drafts and those that might not be worth the price based on your build.

Grey's 3B Rankings For 2024

2/20/2024
Grey and B_Don are back to finish up the infield for the 2024 positional rankings with 3B on this week’s episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. We discuss the depth of the position. At the top, what separates Austin Riley and Rafael Devers? The rest of the guys you’re drafting for 3B are a mix of crusty vets and young up and comers. Is the upside of Royce Lewis worth his draft cost? The names we know seem safe, but we discuss the safety level we feel on Nolan Arenado, Manny Machado, and Alex Bregman. Josh Jung and Noelvi Marte both had nice starts to 2023. Will they keep it up in 2024? We move on to the depth at the position and the 3B we might grab if we wait on the position or possibly as our corner infielder. Listen for information on RCLs and the podcast leagues!

Grey’s SS Rankings For 2024

2/13/2024
Grey and B_Don are back for the next installation of positional rankings on the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast with the shortstops, SS. Are you ready for the Bo Bichette discussion again? Because it’s going to happen, again. We talk about the other guys in the tier with Bo that B_Don has over Bo. We move on in the SS rankings to talk about the Cruz’s at SS with each of us coming to the defense of our own favorite Cruz. SS is top heavy in the overall rankings, but then there’s a drop followed by another big drop. If you miss out and have to take somebody after one of the drops, we’ll tell you who we like in that area of desperation.

Grey’s 2B Rankings For 2024

2/6/2024
On this week’s Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast, Grey and B_Don continue the positional rankings for 2024 with 2B. Who will be the player we compare to everyone this week at the position? The guys differ on how they view the 2nd tier at the position, but agree on the names there in Jose Altuve, Matt McLain, and Nico Hoerner. 2B offers a mix of capabilities for your fantasy builds, and the guys discuss where those tiers breaks are for them. At some point, we cross over into the world of middle infielder land where you should have grabbed your 2B by then. Listen and find out which players we like and which we won’t be owning based on ADP. Stick around for announcements at the end of the show.

Fantasy Baseball Podcast - Grey's 1B Rankings

1/29/2024
Grey and B_Don are back for another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast as we continue going through Grey’s positional rankings. After the scintillating 2 hours on catchers, it’s time to move to the corner and talk about 1B ranks. We talk about the depth of the position and where you likely want to grab your 1B and then fill your CI spot if it is going to come from this position. There are some young 1B making their mark in guys like Triston Casas, Nolan Jones, and Spencer Steer. Find out where they rank against vets like Paul Goldschmidt. Both the guys think there’s some ADP value to be had at the position and a couple guys they probably won’t get vs ADP. This is apparently the year where we find one player in the top 10 and say every player at the position can be them. Find out who that is for 1B.

Fantasy Baseball Podcast: Grey's 2024 Catcher Rankings

1/22/2024
Grey and B_Don are back on the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast to start the positional rankings for 2024. Where would we start our positional rankings? Our favorite position, of course, catcher. Sure, all the catchers are ranked, but couldn’t they all be #1? Everyone is basically Will Smith or JT Realmuto or Salvador Perez if you look hard enough. Where would Grey actually draft a catcher in 1 or 2 catcher leagues? There are some young catchers popping up, and just how far does Grey have them rising in the rankings.

Fantasy Baseball Podcast - Grey's Top 20

1/16/2024
Grey and B_Don are back for the first Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast of 2024 where we are looking at Grey’s Top 20 rankings. Grey says there’s no question who will be at #1 in every draft this year. After #1 though, there’s still a top tier of hitters including Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Corbin Carroll, and Kyle Tucker. Even if you miss out on those guys, there’s still plenty of talent left out there. Can you guess how many pitchers Grey has in his top 20? There’s one player in Grey’s top 20 that B_Don doesn’t think belongs. Surely we can’t go long on the podcast with only 20 players to talk about right…right?

Fantasy Baseball Podcast: 2024 Winter Meetings Recap

12/9/2023
Grey and B_Don return to the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast to discuss the happenings from the MLB Winter Meetings. While Grey missed his opportunity to hangout with a Japanese baseball legend, the greatest Japanese baseball legend (maybe just baseball in general), Shohei Ohtani, is holding the baseball world captive with his free agency decision. In other news, this little team in New York traded for Juan Soto and Trent Grisham while the Padres got back Michel King and some other young arms. The Yankees also acquired another outfielder in Alex Verdugo, but how do the guys see the playing time shaking out in NYC. The Mariners and Braves swapped some players including Jarred Kelenic going to Atlanta and smashing our Vaughn Grissom dreams yet again. Free agent signings have begun, and the Diamondbacks jumped right in by bringing in Eduardo Rodriguez. The Cardinals are bringing in veterans Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson. Jeimer Candelario joins the Reds and B_Don is taking it hard. Craig Kimbrel joins Baltimore with their closer spot open while Felix heals. Jackson Chourio signs and Grey is excited about the possibilities.

Fantasy Baseball Podcast - Top 25 For 2024

10/2/2023
Grey and B_Don go through a draft of the top 25 fantasy baseball players for 2024. We discuss where the tier breaks are in the rankings. Where did the draft go from clear to hazy to muddied. After we draft our 25, we talk about some of the other players that belong in the conversation for the rest of top 40. We talked about where we got things right and where we got things right, but did we learn? How many pitchers get drafted with Grey and I picking players?

Fantasy Baseball Award Season

9/26/2023
Grey and B_Don are here for the last podcast for the 2023 season (we’ll be back next week, but doing our 2024 draft). After Grey vents about the Ronald Acuna Jr. and Mookie Betts real MVP discussion, we move on to the fantasy MVP award discussion. Cody Bellinger might take home the fantasy MVP and comeback player award for 2023, but do we believe for 2024? Up next, we talk about some of the top pitcher values in Zach Eflin, Justin Steele, Kodai Senga, Pablo Lopez, and Kyle Bradish. We preliminarily rank the group of starters for 2024. Then, we talk about some of the other fantasy comebacks, most improved, and breakouts for guys like: Josh Lowe, Jake Burger, Jorge Soler, and CJ Abrams. Before we wrap up with waivers and bullpen talk, we discuss what players are our best and worst calls from 2023.

Awards and 2nd Half Performers

9/19/2023
Grey and B_Don discuss who should take home the MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year awards for both leagues. We called the MVP race months ago, but do we still think so? The Cy Young for the National League is anyone’s guess even at this late stage of the season. Then, we take some time and talk about the Rookie of the Year candidates and what we expect from them next year for production and ADP. After we get through with the awards, we take a look at some of the best second half performers and if we expect them to carry it over into 2024.
