There’s often a call for the masses in our country to wake up. We hear it when some sort of crisis limits our freedoms or removes religious liberties. But the wakeup call we need isn’t cultural or political but spiritual. Because the more we understand spiritually, the better off we are with everything else. Paul’s instructions to the believers in Rome are like an instruction guide for how to wake up.

Last week, a jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on 34 felony counts. Many are discussing the political reasons and ramifications of the verdict. But when you look at recent events through a spiritual lens, it’s easy to see why the Trump verdict isn’t shocking.

What standard does the Bible set for how believers should live? Well, the apostle Paul gives us his personal criteria. The problem is that we see Paul as a super-saint. We think it’s impossible to live up to his standard. While we may not have the same experiences Paul had, we should have the same pursuits. He shows us what the standard Christian life should look like.

Some people who profess Jesus as Lord are not genuine believers. They have false faith. In fact, the Bible teaches this truth in more than one place. Studying these passages shouldn’t cause us to doubt our salvation but to examine our lives for genuine spiritual fruit. So, what is the fruit of genuine faith? Are you truly saved?

God still wants to have a conversation with His children today. And using the model in the Lord’s Prayer helps us pray according to God’s agenda, rather than our own.

Everything right, true, and good has been distorted and spoiled by the world. These counterfeits are being sold to our kids as the real thing; and even many Christian kids are buying it.
