In this episode, Dave, Misha, Matteya, and Thomas dive into the heart of Lent; why it matters, where it comes from, and how the church can live into it meaningfully today. Through personal experience and thoughtful discussion, they unpack the practices that shape this season.

Luke 24:13-35 This week, in-house guest preacher Dr. Ed Gerber, brings us God's Word. From Luke 24, we can see how Jesus is present, but hidden all around us. He is with us in our suffering and brokenness and the encouragement and call is to see Jesus in ourselves and others, to show love and witness to His goodness for all those around us.

Matthew 28:16-20 This week, Pastor Jonathan continues our sermon series City on a Hill. It was especially fitting this week that as two young adults professed their faith to Christ, we hear the good news of our calling to be disciples of Jesus. Being a disciple, an apprentice/student of Jesus is to give our whole selves to him, knowing and believing that he will bear good fruit when we do so.

Philippians 1:28-2:4 This week, Pastor Dave continues our series on being a City on a Hill. Part of reflecting the love and goodness of God for the city and the world is to come together in unity with one another. We will always have differences and conflict even within the church. But Paul encourages the church to hold one another in unity and love.

In this episode, Pastors Dave, Sid, and Jonathan reflect on the past ten years of Hope Community Church. They share key milestones, moments, and stories from this time, which illustrate God’s work in and through our church; and brainstorm where Hope Community Church may be ten years from now.

Acts 2:42-47 This week Pastor Dave continues our sermon series on the life and ministry of the church. Just like the early church, we need to be a church that is Christlike in wanting to and needing to pray.

1 Peter 3:15-16 This week, Pastor Jonathan continues our sermon series City on a Hill. Being a blessing in the community means being committed to a life of evangelism and according to Scripture, evangelism is not just for some and not others, but a life living in harmony with Jesus, pouring out His love for those around us.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 For the new year of 2026, Pastor Dave starts our new sermon series, City on a Hill, which is tied in with the vision of our church when it was first planted. This week, Pastor Dave focuses on the foolishness of the gospel and how we are also tempted to "privatize" our faith in Christ today.

Isaiah 46:1-4 This week, we had the privilege of having a guest preacher, Rev. Tim Sheridan, bring us God's Word. Pastor Tim shares how, unlike the idols and "gods" in our world that burden us, our God, YHWH, carries us and promises to sustain and rescue us from our burdens. Pastor Tim Sheridan is a member of our church and director of Resonate, which is a ministry of our denomination.

John 1:14 Pastor Dave concludes our Advent series on the first chapter of John. As crazy as it may seem, God chose to come to us, take on humanity in its fullness and take the weight of sin on His own shoulders. That is good news for us all, because no matter how daunting the darkness may seem, Jesus has come to bring us the light of life.

John 1:9-13 This week, Pastor Jonathan continues our Advent sermons on the Gospel of John. Accepting and believing in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, to live and have our being with Him is to be children of God. That is the gospel invitation for all of us and our call to live our lives in loving relationship with our Heavenly Father.

John 1:1-5; 9-11 This week, Pastor Dave continues our Advent series on the Gospel of John. When Jesus came as the Saviour of the world, he came into an unwelcome, violent world that did not receive and acknowledge him. The good news is that He came because the world was in darkness, to shed the light of life for the world in desperate need of it.

In this episode, Pastor Dave sits down with Doug R. to talk about alcohol, addiction, and the holiday season. Doug shares about his journey with alcohol and how he experienced healing from this addiction. This year Doug celebrates his 25th year of sobriety. John 1:1-5 This week, Pastor Dave begins our Advent sermon series on the gospel of John. Jesus is the Eternal Word, not just born on Christmas, but the eternal Son of God that existed from the beginning. In Him is life and he calls the church to extend His light of life for the world.

Hebrews 13:1-8 This week, Pastor Jonathan concludes our sermon series on Hebrews with the final encouragements and warnings from the author. The core of our Christian faith is to bear fruit in and through Jesus who lives with us by His Spirit.

For our latest All of Life Evening, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Jason Burtt to discuss the topic of Artificial Intelligence. Pastor Dave hosts the conversation on how we as Christians are called to wisely steward this new resource called "AI." This episode is a recording of the live session held at our church. Dr. Jason Burtt is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Trinity Western University, where he teaches and researches topics like social trust, ethics, and the impact of technology on society. He holds a PhD from Baylor University and is also an ordained minister with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. Known for his engaging teaching style and care for students, Dr. Burtt blends academic insight with spiritual leadership. He lives near Vancouver with his wife and three daughters.
