EKasi Konexion Community Radio Station (EK FM 103.6) affiliated to the National Community Radio Forum (NCRF) and registered as Non-Profit Organization (NPO No: 057-818) under the NPO Act of 1997 is a newly licensed community station expected to serve communities in the far east of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng province covering areas such as Kwa-Thema, Tsakane, Duduza, Brakpan, Springs, Nigel, Alra Park and other surrounding areas. The estimated population of these areas is +/- 900 000 (* source: StatsS.A), and relatively with cohesive needs and interests. The station was established in 2003 by energetic young people who were responding to a general feeling from the community that there was a need for an entity like a community radio station through which people on the grass root level, not only can they exercise their freedom of expression in languages of their choice but also use as a platform to engage and connect with one another on issues affecting them on a daily basis – hence the catch
