For the Florida Beer Podcast, North Miami Brewfest is the gift that keeps on giving with amazing breweries celebrating beer and the south Florida beer scene every year. Our gracious hosts once again are the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University, as they put this festival on every year. We start this episode with Chef John Noble Massey, head chef of the ultra-exclusive and frankly amazing looking FIU Bistro on the FIU/Chaplin School's Biscayne Bay campus. I do enjoy a good beer fest. Happily, I was able to enjoy a good beer fest and one that I had not been to before! And while Champions Beerfest has been on the Florida Beer Podcast before, that was pre-COVID and, unfortunately, I never got the chance to attend. But, it was back--in a new home at Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach. We are still celebrating Mezcal Lauderdale 2024! This year the Grand Tasting took place on June 22nd at Sistrunk Marketplace in Ft. Lauderdale. We spoke with Phil Reis, Miami Market Manager for importer Global Beverage Team. They import Xicala, a series of three Espadin expressions that will be featured at this year's event. Men In The Making is a Pinellas County-based program that pairs minority boys in and around St. Petersburg with community leaders and mentors.
