IORadio #28: A Conversation With The Common Sense Skeptic - IoRadio.org

5/3/2024
One of the most detailed and prolific sources of data on the shenanigans of people like Elon Musk, Andrew Tate, Kevin O'Leary and others can be found on a YouTube channel called, "The Common Sense Skeptic." In the short time he's been producing videos, he's managed to publish a wide array of very detailed, very damning details of some of these controversial characters' pasts and present. We talk about what he's discovered and what's happening now with some of these people. NOTE: Fixed problem where this was showing previous show's audio. IORadio #27: A Follow-Up Conversation With A Crypto Unicorn (Part 2)

4/12/2024
You've heard the stories about people who go "all in" on Bitcoin. These are the "pink unicorns" of investing. Does it make sense to put all your eggs in one crypto basket? Well, we talk to one guy who's done that, and try to explain why that might be a bad idea. It's been a few weeks and there's been some interest to check back in with our infamous crypto unicorn who has gone "all in" on Bitcoin and see if our last discussion had any impact on his outlook. I also dive a little deeper into how his crypto adoption has manifested and how much actual experience he's had testing the exchanges to see if he can get his "money" back? There are some very interesting and/or shocking revelations towards the end. Be sure to leave your comments and let us know what you think? IORadio Special Release: Twitter Spaces Pro/Con Crypto Showdown with Cameron Crews and Crypto Critics Corner Cowards

2/27/2024
This is a special release of a live Twitter spaces debate between Adam and a pro-crypto representative from the Crypto Critics Corner podcast community. Our last episode apparently "triggered" Bennett and Cas and they went on a rampage blocking everybody and talking smack behind their backs. We were accused of "attacking" and trying to "cancel" them because we had the audacity to ask some basic questions about their claims and who's behind the company they work for? While Bennett and Cas have refused to confront us in person, head on, they have been sending their fanboys to attack us, and one of them invited us into a live chat on Twitter to discuss what's going on. What you're about to listen to is two hours of complete and utter conquest. What they thought was going to be an attack against us, backfired horribly. We're still waiting for Bennett and Cas to respond and answer, "Who is Protos' mysterious Co-Founder?" IORadio #24 - Who Watches The Watchers?

2/14/2024
Sal discusses an investigative piece he's published on questions and concerns over crypto news entity, "Protos" and the "Crypto Critics Corner", Bennett Tomlin and Cas Piancy who are on their payroll. Are some of the most prominent "crypto critics" in media double agents? Pretending to be critical of crypto when instead they're lap dogs for the industry? Sal chronicles an interesting turn of events that manifested over several months that led him to look into who's behind some of the work penned by the people behind the "Crypto Critics Podcast." UPDATE NOTE that this podcast was recorded before the "Crypto Critics" released their most recent podcast where they actually claimed Tether was fully-backed. So before we made this public, there's even more evidence of some questionable conflicts of interest. ALSO there have been some interesting/significant updates and disclosures from the "Crypto Critics" themselves that are not covered in the podcast but can be read about on our ioradio.org site - check it for the latest news. IORadio #22: STOP Comparing Crypto and Blockchain to the Internet!

12/25/2023
In this episode we tackle one of our biggest tech pet peeves: Comparing crypto and blockchain to the "early Internet" as a way to suggest blockchain has the same potential as the Internet did, but merely "takes time" to become accepted as something essential and useful. This is a flat out delusion. And we discuss the details of how and why it's a dreadful false equivalence to suggest crypto is in any way, comparable to the Internet. IO Radio #21: Trapped on Planet Crypto-Bro!

12/15/2023
In this special extended episode of IO-Radio, Adam and Sal, in an effort to establish peace and solidarity with a strange new alien race, unknowingly travel to the planet... CRYPTO BRO... Originally thought to be residents of planet Earth, the real world, they discover they are not in the same place. Follow us on this strange journey, where the "specific" is strangely "abstract." Where "permanence" and "reliability" manifest into "utility" and "value" despite not actually being qualified. We attempt to find some kind of common ground with a bona fide crypto enthusiast who proves to be as evasive and slithery as the fearsom Dianoga, changing the subject with incredible speed, moving laterally as soon as they sense they're near a corner, hiding behind huge abstractions that nobody completely understands. In order to make sense of this strange alien encounter we had to fabricate a special new technology, the "Vague Abstraction Meter" which tracked our guest's nimble verbal moves in real time so we could attempt to gain some common ground. Watch the video and our new (potentially disruptive technology), the "Vague Abstraction Meter." Warning: Listening to his podcast may possibly be in violation of OSHA standards of intellectual stability. We apologize. IO Radio #19: Peter Howson, Researcher and Author of "Let Them Eat Crypto"

11/7/2023
Dr. Peter Howson is a professor of International Development and a researcher who's worked around the world on projects related to environmental sustainability in the global south. We recently sat down with him to discuss his new book, "Let Them Eat Crypto." When he first heard about blockchain through his NGO partners, he bought into the hype that the technology could help solve some of the problems he was seeing in his field. He soon discovered that instead of a solution, blockchain based crypto projects offer a vehicle through which the ultra-wealthy exploit the poor and enrich themselves at the expense of the most vulnerable. Peter wrote the book, in part, to make amends for his initial enthusiasm about blockchain, and the conclusions he presents are a scathing indictment of the industry who promotes its spread. Howson disassembles crypto's core narratives by putting their greed, flagrant hypocrisy, and utter contempt for other humans on display, and demonstrates that from green washing fraudulent carbon credits, to crypto colonizers displacing indigenous populations, to recruiting impoverished children into financial schemes, all of blockchain's "solutions" are ultimately "Scammydocious." IO Radio #18 - In the Garden of Snakes with Stephen Diehl

10/24/2023
"When cryptocurrency’s malign influence on the software industry began to be felt in 2019, an engineer working in finance took notice. After seeing first hand how public permissionless blockchains could be used to pervert incentives and undermine common interests, Stephen Diehl’s views on the decade old tech changed. What he had previously dismissed, he now saw as dangerous, and Stephen began to write a series of influential blog posts that have helped educate the public about the true nature of crypto. In the intervening years Stephen’s written dozens of articles and two books on the subject and has become one of crypto’s most prominent critics. He’s also become an activist against the well funded cryptocurrency industry and has challenged those seeking to exploit and defraud the public by organizing with others who are critical of the tech. We sit down with Stephen to discuss his activism, the ever changing ecosystem of tokenized fraud known as cryptocurrency, and if we should let Sal burn it with fire or apply the law according to Adam. IO Radio #16 - A Conversation With Ethereum Developer "Louis"

9/2/2023
As crypto-critics, we're often accused of living in an "echo chamber" being unwilling to entertain other points of view. As part of our ongoing efforts to try and discuss issues with the people who are in the industry, we present another interview/casual conversation with a 20-something year old Ethereum developer from Switzerland by the name of "Louis." We get his points of view about what problems crypto claims to address. Among other things, he claims the tech offers "less trust assumptions" and "less technical points of failure." 7/16/2023
Adam and I have a casual conversation about what's been happening in the world of social media. A lot has been going on and major social media sites are unraveling before our eyes. From Elon Musk's rabid attempt to progressively make Twitter more "functional", to Reddit sacrificing the golden goose of loyal moderators and content creating users upon the alter of corporate profits, no platform seems safe from the greedy embrace of silicon valley's techno parasites. What's going on? And where are for profit platform refugees going?
