Jazz on the Air
Stony Brook, NY
While jazz is played throughout the week on WUSB on syndicated shows such as Jazz Revisited and mixed in with other genres on such shows as C.C's Various Grooves, Gary Pecorino's Modern Ears, Mr. Edison's No Apologies, Bryan Katz' Music Without Borders, Rosanne Hoffmann's Eclectic Objective(and sometimes mixed in with any other show on USB), we always set apart at least two hours on Sunday starting at 2:30 p.m. to present Jazz On The Air where we attempt to showcase the best of the newest releases along with a firm foundation of the classic repertoire. This is usually augmented with ticket giveaways and artist interviews. In this year alone such artists as Hamiett Bluiett, James Carter, Gino Robair, Matthew Shipp, Erik Friedlander, Bruce Eisenbeil, Ron Affif, Chris Kelsey, Joseph Carter III, Abbey Rader, Steve Salerno, Uri Caine, Dave Douglas, The String Trio Of New York, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Michael Jeffry Stevens, Joe Fonda and a host of others have graced our airwaves with their insights.
