Ugh. | FFAF #84

3/13/2026
It’s Free For All Friday, and with the playoff race slipping further away following Thursday night’s defensive breakdowns in a 6–3 loss to the New York Rangers, the Winnipeg Jets have plenty to talk about. As things get tougher, there’s no shortage of topics surrounding the team. Cam and Tyson (filling in for Jim) hear from you, the listener, on what the Jets need to do over their final 18 games. Is it time to commit fully to the rebuild, or should Winnipeg do everything it can to scratch and claw into the postseason? As always on Fridays, the floor belongs to you. The guys open the phone lines and text line to hear your thoughts on the Jets, the biggest storylines around the National Hockey League, and anything else on your mind. Could The Jets Become The Rangers?

3/12/2026
As the Winnipeg Jets host the New York Rangers on Thursday night at Canada Life Centre, the guys can’t help but wonder something: Are the Jets actually very similar to the Rangers? Look at the comparisons -- recent Presidents’ Trophy winners, elite goaltending, a star defenseman, and a strong forward core -- yet New York currently sits last in the Eastern Conference. Is that a warning sign for Winnipeg? Could the same thing happen here, and how do the Jets avoid it? Also, with Logan Stanley chucking knuckles in his first game with the Buffalo Sabres, there isn’t an obvious player left to take on an "enforcer" role for the Jets. Do they even need one anymore? And what does an enforcer look like in today’s NHL? All that and more on today’s edition of Jets at Noon. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

That Can't Happen Again...

3/11/2026
The Winnipeg Jets were taken to the woodshed at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday night, falling 4-1 to the Anaheim Ducks. Even more concerning than the score was Winnipeg managing just 13 shots on goal, while Anaheim peppered them with 34. Simply put, a performance like that can’t happen again if the Jets hope to bring playoff hockey back to downtown Winnipeg this spring. So... what exactly went wrong? You know... besides nearly everything? Jets studio host Kelly Moore joins the program to share his thoughts as 680 CJOB celebrates its 80th anniversary. Scheifele Leading The Charge

3/10/2026
When you're fighting to claw your way into the postseason, every game at this point of the year is a must-win. The Winnipeg Jets host the young and fast Anaheim Ducks at Canada Life Centre, looking to extend both a six-game point streak and a three-game winning streak. The Jets can’t afford to give away a point tonight -- they need both. With Mark Scheifele coming off a week that saw him named the National Hockey League’s First Star after recording three goals and eight points in three games, will he be the one to carry the Jets down the stretch? And how quickly should Winnipeg be prepared to shorten the bench with every situation now feeling do-or-die? Former NHL forward and Ducks colour analyst Emerson Etem joins the show to discuss what’s gone right in Anaheim as the Ducks sit atop the Pacific Division. Plus, a hockey team in Ontario ends a season completely winless, and Morweena’s James Reimer has matched an NHL record. All that and more on today’s edition of Jets at Noon. Morrissey vs. Byfuglien: Who Would You Take?

3/9/2026
Josh Morrissey returned to the lineup Saturday night at Canada Life Centre after missing time with an injury suffered during the Olympics, and he made an immediate impact in the Winnipeg Jets 3–2 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks. Morrissey scored the game-winner in the extra frame and also picked up an assist on Gabriel Vilardi’s late goal that forced overtime. Those two points moved Morrissey past Dustin Byfuglien on the Jets’ all-time franchise list for points by a defenseman, giving him 417. So, it begs the question: who would you rather have on your team -- Morrissey or Byfuglien? The guys give their thoughts and ask you, the listener, to weigh in. Also, has the path to the postseason actually opened up for the Jets? Cam has crunched the numbers, and if things continue the way they have since returning from the Olympic break, Winnipeg could find itself back in the playoff picture. The margins, however, are razor thin, and there are no guarantees teams like the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, and San Jose Sharks won’t find another gear -- especially with several head-to-head matchups still to come. How many points can the Jets realistically afford to give up over their final 20 games? All that and more on today’s edition of Jets at Noon. Learn more about your ad choices. Free-For-All Friday #83 | NHL 2026 Trade Deadline Edition

3/6/2026
It’s Free For All Friday -- and it just so happens to fall on the biggest day of the NHL calendar outside of the playoffs: NHL Trade Deadline day. With the clock ticking toward the deadline, Cam and Jim react to all the moves around the league and what they mean for the Winnipeg Jets -- including the mammoth deal that sent Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn to the Buffalo Sabres for forward prospect Isak Rosen, defenseman Jacob Bryson, and Buffalo's second-round pick in 2027 and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2026. What do you think of that big haul? Are you excited to see what Rosen can do, after he has 25 goals and 43 points in 37 games for the AHL's Rochester Americans? That all happened after a resounding win by the Winnipeg Jets over the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1. Is the path actually opening for this team to make the post-season? Can the Jets climb past Los Angeles, San Jose, Nashville, and Seattle? The guys also open the floor to the listeners, taking questions, opinions, and hot takes on everything from the deadline chaos to the state of the Jets down the stretch. Avoiding The End...

3/5/2026
It might not be outlandish to suggest that with 22 games left in the regular season for the Winnipeg Jets their season might be on the line Thursday night against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning. Waking up the morning of their latest contest, the Jets sit nine points out of a playoff spot. Coming back from the break, the Jets have grabbed six of a possible eight points and have gained two points in the standings. An outright loss, to a team like the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have lost three-in-a-row and are coming off a 5-1 embarrassing defeat to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, might be too crushing to overcome - and a step back on the eve of the NHL trade deadline where major changes could be on the horizon. So, is it safe for Cam and Jim to ask if the season is on the line at Canada Life Centre against the Bolts? Erik Erlendsson, The Lightning Insider, joins the program to tee up Tampa's season so far and where the real expectations lie leading into the post-season. It's Come To A Head... Do You Sign Or Trade Logan Stanley?

3/4/2026
When it comes to the pending unrestricted free agent status of defenseman Logan Stanley, there’s one thing that can’t happen in the conversation about trading him or signing him to a medium- or long-term contract: you can’t let him walk on July 1 for nothing. Cam and Jim share their thoughts on what to do with Stanley. Is now the time to trade him while his stock may be higher than it will ever be? After investing all this time and patience into his development -- and with Stanley now playing the best hockey of his NHL career -- how do you justify moving on from him, especially if he wants to stay? These are the tough questions Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is wrestling with, as Stanley confirmed to The Free Press’ Ken Wiebe that talks between his agent and the Jets are underway. If a first-round pick is offered, do you pull the trigger? The Jets were also able to pull victory from the jaws of defeat Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, with Cole Perfetti scoring late to force overtime before Mark Scheifele ended it with a walk-off winner. The frustration, though, is this: why did it take staring down a likely season-ending loss for the Jets to finally pull it together, play their system, and dominate their opponent? What gives? Can This Legitimately Be Fixed?

3/3/2026
Okay. Let’s be realistic. The Winnipeg Jets are 10 points out of a playoff spot as of Tuesday morning. They’re one of the oldest teams in the NHL -- especially when you look at their depth. The prospect pool wasn’t ready to make the jump this year, and there are no guarantees it will be ready to contribute in a meaningful way by 2026-27. So what can actually be done? Cam and Jim tackle that question and share their takes on the Jets’ current situation. Have you already given up hope? Does this team need a coaching change? Are they just one player away? We want to hear from you -- weigh in on the text line. Also, in his latest piece for The Athletic, Murat Ates makes a bold prediction about Winnipeg’s future. Do you agree with him?
