Trojans have a date in San Antonio with TCU with a chance at a 10-win season

12/10/2025
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio talking about the Trojans bowl bid, facing off against the TCU Horned Frogs in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Sitting at 9-3, USC has an opportunity for a double-digit win total with a win over the Frogs in San Antonio. Over the past two seasons, the Trojans have utilized the extra 15 bowl practices well, developing some of the younger players on the roster and bringing home bowl victories to help kickstart the following season. The crew also discusses the off-season roster movement, with players entering the portal and the No. 1 recruiting class waiting in the wings. They also speculate on which players will be available for the Alamo Bowl and which are likely to opt out. With rival Notre Dame making headlines after being left out of the College Football Playoffs and opting out of a bowl game, the team discusses the Fighting Irish's place in the college football landscape and if their fallout with the ACC could impact the future of the rivalry. Helium Boys Podcast: USC draws Alamo Bowl, rating transfer losses and reviving dead bowl games

12/9/2025
Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return behind the microphones for another episode of the Helium Boys Podcast, a serious non-serious USC football podcast. The Helium Boys are back to look at a wide array of college football, and USC-specific, topics after the announcement of the College Football Playoff participants and bowl game destinations as well as significant roster changes incoming for the Trojans following National Signing Day and the first wave of players announcing their intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal The episode opens with the Helium Boys staple 'Two-Minute Drill' that features Shotgun and Chris both railing on Notre Dame and its insolent decision to not participate in the Pop Tarts Bowl after being left out of the College Football Playoff. After the wild rants on the intolerable disrespect shown to one of our college football national treasures, the podcasters dive into 'Stock Up, Stock Down,' which they use as a jumping off point to discuss a variety of college football topics, including USC finishing with the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2026 recruiting cycle, the evolution of the college football bowl system and some familiar faces the Trojans have/will see. They also take an early look at the matchup between USC and TCU, who will meet in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on Dec. 30. After a break, the podcasters dive into some superlatives for the Trojans' No. 1-ranked 2026 recruiting class, including their picks for a Day 1 starter and favorite recruit as well as who will transform their body the most and who will be a star when it's all said and done. Chris and Shotgun follow with a dive into the players exiting the program, breaking down the future impact of the 11 players that have made it known they plan to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2. The podcast duo also answer your mailbag questions discussing basketball collapses, opt outs and Notre Dame scheduling. After some 'Take It or Leave It' questions for Shotgun, the episode concludes with Chris making Shotgun choose which bowl games to revive and which to keep dead. Coach Harvey Hyde on USC's Alamo Bowl bid the No. 1 recruiting class

12/8/2025
On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans accepting a bid to play in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on December 30, taking on the 8-4 TCU Horned Frogs from the Big 12 Conference. Coach Hyde discusses why playing in these bowl games is important for the development of the team, even though he wanted the Trojans to take on a higher ranked opponent following the 9-3 season. The guys also discuss how head coach Lincoln Riley was able to secure the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the country, holding off a late push by Oregon, and why this was such an important development for this Trojan football program that is trying to get back to elite status. Coach feels USC should be in the upper echelon of high school recruiting each and every season, and this 2026 class is a great way to get the ball rolling in that direction again. They also take a look at some of the USC football players that declared they will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in January and what sort of impact those departures could have. They give their thoughts on the College Football Playoff field including rival Notre Dame being left out and coach talks about why he feels it was a bad move for the Irish to skip out on a bowl game. Helium Boys LIVE podcast: USC takes down UCLA, departure musings and Coach Spratling leaves Trevino Tech

12/2/2025
The Helium Boys Podcast returns in history-making fashion as Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino record the first live edition of the podcast simulcast on YouTube. Shotgun and Chris are back behind the microphones to break down the Trojans' come-from-behind 29-10 victory over UCLA in the latest iteration of the Crosstown Showdown rivalry matchup. Chris gets things started with his 'Two-Minute Drill' discussing USC getting off to a flat start as it had an emotional letdown after being eliminated from any serious College Football Playoff contention with a loss at Oregon the week prior. Shotgun's 'Two-Minute Drill' focuses on the uptick of defensive pressure in the second half, the impact it had on USC's second-half shutout and why getting pressure with the defensive front is such a high priority going forward. The podcasting duo move into the 'Stock Up, Stock Down' segment, which features a glimpse into the future from the UCLA game both on the field and in the stands. Freshman defensive back Alex Graham and freshman tight end Taniela Tupou, running back King Miller, a senior sendoff with Lake McRee scoring a touchdown and much more are also featured in the segment. The Helium Boys then dive into the second half of the show which features your questions about a myriad of topics including the worst road trip food stops this season, Ja'Kobi Lane's potential draft stock, thoughts on UCLA's new head coach hire and discussion of the transfer portal with some current players already announcing intentions to enter while some potential targets have already started to emerge. Chris then puts Shotgun through a regular-season final edition of Take It or Leave It with takes solely on whether players will be staying or leaving for a variety of reasons. During the final segment -- the Overtime period -- Shotgun is given reign over the Trevino Tech football program as a coaching carousel hot commodity program leader and must decide on a series of decisions that could determine the future successes of the program he decides to lead. Tunnel Vision - Trojans second half surge secures the 29-10 victory over the crosstown rival Bruins

12/1/2025
On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio recapping USC's 29-10 victory over UCLA, capping a 9-3 season for the Men of Troy and a likely trip to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl and an opportunity to win 10 games. With star wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane suspended for the first quarter for violating team rules, the offense struggled in the first half and only managed to put one touchdown on the board. Things picked up in the second half for USC, with the offense putting up points and the defense pitching another shutout, dashing UCLA's hopes of an upset bid in the Battle for Los Angeles. The guys breaks down the game, talking about how missing the top-2 receivers set the offense back in the first half and some of the defensive struggles that led to the Bruins taking the lead in a game for the first time in 40 days. After halftime quarterback Jayden Maiava settled in and found his two stars, Lemon for a 32-yard touchdown and Lane on a couple of crucial drive-extending catches. King Miller also ran well, finishing with 124 yards rushing, 42 receiving and two total touchdowns, earning him USC's player of the game. Finishing the regular season 9-3 is better than most expected, but in some ways it still feels like a disappointment with the opportunity to make the College Football Playoffs just a missed field goal at Illinois away. The guys take a look at the season as a whole and discuss why Lincoln Riley said this campaign was an important springboard towards the future success of this Trojan football team. This is the podcast version of our Tunnel Vision video show. CLICK HERE for 75% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! Rivalry week is here with the struggling Bruins coming to the Coliseum

11/26/2025
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's disappointing 42-27 loss at Oregon, knocking the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff picture. The loss only dropped SC two spots in the latest CFP top-25 rankings, but with three losses there is essentially no chance to climb up into the top-11 to secure one of the at-large spots. The Trojans will wrap up the regular season with an opportunity to go 9-3, facing off against crosstown rival UCLA in the Coliseum Saturday afternoon. The Bruins started the season looking like the worst team in the country, fired head coach DeShaun Foster, named Tim Skipper as the interim head coach, fired offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri, named Jerry Neuheisel as the play caller and then did the impossible, beat No. 7 Penn State. The Bruins went on to beat Michigan State and Maryland, then came crashing back down to earth, losing the last four games by a combined 129 points. The crew gives their thoughts on the concerns coming out of the Oregon game, the potential for overlooking the Bruins, where the team is health wise and Lincoln Riley's future with the USC football program. With the playoffs off the table, they also discuss which bowl games are the most likely and who some of the potential opponents could be. CLICK HERE for 75% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! Helium Boys Podcast: USC stumbles at Oregon, UCLA rivalry week and Thanksgiving tropes

11/25/2025
Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return to podcast form to break down USC's disappointing 42-27 loss to Oregon on the road that leaves the Trojans still searching for their first win in Autzen Stadium since 2011. Shotgun takes on the 'Two-Minute Drill' first, discussing USC's growth as a program, but how it still measures up short to that national-title-contending tier. Chris spends his time talking about some Oregon experiences, including a disastrous La Quinta Inn stay. The HBs move into the 'Stock Up, Stock Down' segment, which features the Trojan special teams, freshman wide receiver Tanook Hines, safety Kennedy Urlacher, tackling on the road and much more. The Helium Boys then dive into the second half of the show to see if the Trojans can close out the year with nine wins in the regular season against crosstown rival UCLA, one of the worst teams in the Big Ten. Chris puts Shotgun through another edition of Take It or Leave It with takes on Lincoln Riley's hot seat for 2026, Makai Lemon's Biletnikoff race and tackles for a loss. Coach Harvey Hyde disappointed with USC's performance in Eugene

11/24/2025
On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans falling well short on the road against the Ducks, with a disappointing performance that included far too many self inflicted wounds. Coach feels that USC had enough talent on the team to win the game, but too often the players and coaches beat themselves. He felt both sides made plenty of mistakes and for the Trojans, you can't do that when you are playing a great football team. USC needed to play its best game and take advantage of Oregon's weaknesses and that simply didn't happen. Tunnel Vision: Special teams blunders in Eugene sink USC's hope of a College Football Playoffs berth

11/24/2025
On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping USC's 42-27 loss to Oregon, knocking the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff picture. Facing the No. 7 ranked Ducks, the No. 15 Trojans needed to play a clean game in Autzen Stadium and unfortunately it was anything but from Lincoln Riley and company. Major special teams blunders, including a leaping penalty on a punt and punt return for a touchdown, put points directly on the board for Oregon and that was simply too much for the Trojans to overcome. The crew breaks down the game, discussing what went right for the Men of Troy and what went wrong, and how the Ducks provided a real opportunity for an upset with some sloppy play of their own. Offensively USC put up 100 more passing yards than any of Oregon's opponents this season, but Jayden Maiava did have two costly interceptions and the run game was essentially non existent. Defensively USC played better in the second half but just couldn't get enough stops to slow down the Ducks potent offense. Special teams was an absolute disaster, starting with a kickoff out of bounds, a kick catch interference call, leaping that took away a USC stop and led to a Ducks touchdown, giving up a punt return for a touchdown and then a missed short field goal. At a minimum that cost USC 17 points in a game it lost by 15. Despite the loss, the potential for 10 wins is still a major improvement over last season, but being unable to pull off a win in any of the three toughest road games is a tough pill to swallow for the Trojans. The Trojans and the Ducks know each other well from the Pac-10/Pac-12 days and the two programs often go head-to-head for some of the top recruiting prospects on the West Coast. 11/20/2025
The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down Rodney Rice's triple double in USC's 87-67 win over Illinois State. The duo also discuss the Women of Troy's 69-52 loss to South Carolina as well as the team's bounce back 78-51 win over Portland. But before getting into all of the action, USC men's forward Jacob Cofie joins the show to talk about his early season success, why he chose the Trojans, his relationship with Eric Musselman and Will Conroy, and much more. Cofie has started all three games for the Men of Troy so far this season, and he's averaging 13.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game. The USC Triple-Double concludes with a look ahead to the men's matchup with Troy as well as the team's trip to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational. Shotgun and Connor also preview the women's ranked road matchup against No. 24 Notre Dame on Friday. Banged up Trojans prepare for massive road trip to take on No. 7 Oregon Ducks

11/19/2025
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio following USC's hard-fought 26-21 come from behind victory over Iowa, keeping the Trojans hopes of a College Football Playoff berth alive. The Men of Troy did not come out of the contest unscathed, losing starting left tackle Elijah Paige and starting safeties Kamari Ramsey and Bishop Fitzgerald to injuries during the game. Next up, No. 15 USC goes back on the road for the last time in the regular season, taking on No. 7 Oregon with ESPN's College Gameday on campus for the huge matchup. The crew gives some of their takes from the win over the Hawkeyes, including head coach Lincoln Riley calling it a "culture win," showing that this Trojans squad is tough enough to play gritty games in the Big Ten. They also have an update on the injury situation, discussing which star players will be able to contribute in this massive matchup in Eugene. While a spot in the field of 12 to determine the national champion is on the line, there is even more at stake when USC and Oregon clash. There is also the recruiting side of this rivalry, with the Ducks pushing into Southern California for top prospects and the Trojans showing they are taking things seriously and can defend their home turf on the recruiting trail. CLICK HERE for 30% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify!
