It's time to pick a bone! Mel talks about her love for old man music, Dan saves all the puppies, and J-Roc goes to Washington!!

We’ve all been there, sobbing heavily through mouthfuls of ice cream and lucky charms, washed down with swigs of cheap whiskey. The sad comic display interrupted only by brief periods of deep compilation of how we got here, quickly followed by more sobbing, eating, then whiskey. This ceremonial perpetuation of the fatness/sadness cycle ensures we remain fat enough that every time you catch your soft, flabby meat bag in the mirror you’ll react in the worst way possible and bury those feelings deep in a carton of ho hos. Sure, overeating can be a lot of fun, but is there a downside to this beloved past time?

As Americans, it’s hard for us to imagine that there’s anyone outside these blessed borders of freedom capable of downing as much food as we do. Just occasionally, however, an unlikely contender stumbles up from the underworld to show the true meaning of overeating. In our first deep dive into maniacal masticators, we examine the Australian phenom James Webb. A man who's managed to stack up an impressive list of accomplishments in a short amount of time. Whether it’s breaking a world record, or discovering new galaxies, James makes it look easy.

In the first episode of our "Scenario" series, J-Roc colonizes space, Mel talks her favorite soul music, and Lincoln squares off against Nixon in the ARENA in a fight for presidential supremacy! (also Dan fights his landlord). Featuring a special guest appearance by The Covered Johnsons! Oh and an escape room on a spaceship for some stupid reason. In today's episode, we're taking a step back to figure out a game plan for Mel. We've only got 3 more months until the Best of the West Wing Fest and we need to make sure Mel has been practicing! Otherwise she's getting chained up in the basement (we might do that anyhow). We're back baby!! And today we're discussing who really created the buffalo chicken wing....a topic that, turns out, is full of controversary. We've got fires, chicken councils, and an enraged Dan. We also settle once and for all why exactly it's called the "Buffalo" wing. We're hitting the ground running with this one so all aboard for season 2!!

The day is finally here! After months of build up, Mel is finally ready to test her skills on a pile of 50 wings. Has she been training? Have we wasted our time making this podcast? Are thick loads a sign of masculinity? Tune in to find out!

J-Roc shamefully reveals his eating habits. Mel is outraged at how much titties have inflated (not that kind of titty inflation). Dan attempts to bring an end to the millennial vs. boomer conflict.

From mouth to poop chute, our food takes an incredible journey throughout our bodies. Each stage along the way holds a specific, important function. Unfortunately for Melinda, many of these stages also work to limit the quantity and pace of ingestion. While these can be problematic, the human body can be trained. Today, we stop at nothing to get Melinda into fighting shape, including the addition of “How to repress a gag reflex” to my search history.

All forms of life share in their need to consume some form of sustenance. So it makes sense that all animals spend the majority of their energy acquiring more energy. Some hunt, others graze, and some just pull into the drive through. In a way, life revolves around food. Just as food can give life, it can also take it away. Like some sick twisted irony, the very object that gives life, also holds a propensity for taking it….and I’m not talking about diabetus.

In our funniest episode yet, Dan hates on words, and Mel talks about her miserable airport experience, and J-Roc has an issue with calling dogs children.

Science and sport go together like politicians and pedophiles, because every competition is better with data. In fact, it was this bond that led to the creation of “the stat”, with categories ranging from the obvious to the obscure. RBIs, sacks, shots on goal, completion percentage, whip. Science not only gives competitors a barometer with which to measure past performances, but also helps conceptualize the task at hand. The science is in, and for Melinda, well it’s not great.

In our second look at competitive eating, we talk about some of the nation's biggest eating competitions and scope out Mel's first competition entry. We'll also take a look at one very impressive eater who's taking the world of competitive eating by storm!!

In today's episode we talk about Ann Bush and her pushy sales tactics. Mel has a problem but we're not really sure what. Dan reveals his hatred for humankind while Reese reveals a whole lot more!!!

There is an intersect of note where unusual human ability meets a desire to awe and impress. For some this is a display of athletic prowess. In other cases this may be a demonstration of creativity or musical talent. For a select few, this is simply just eating. Luckily for us, both as producers of this podcast and as humankind in general, there’s a great deal of entertainment witnessing this grotesque act. This is so compelling, in fact, there’s a long, storied tradition of publicly viewing of those ingesting ungodly amounts of…..whatever.

Heroes are never born, they’re made. They’re hardened by austerity, roused by doubt, and consecrated by victory. This was something that 1970s Hollywood understood well. Find a reluctant commoner, pair them with a coach, and set them off on a seemingly impossible endeavor. This is the blueprint for creating a hero, and a multi-million-dollar Hollywood blockbuster. If our ordinary protagonist wishes to become the heroin, she must follow the steps laid out by Hollywood’s greatest hero, Rocky.

Technology has impacted all corners of human existence. It’s eradicated a litany of once deadly diseases, brought fresh food and water to loads of people across the globe, and redefined the meaning of convenience. In fact, humans equipped with the power of technology have reshaped the earth, quite literally. Why then, when technology removes the useless bone from the chicken wing, do some troglodytes cling to the primitive methods of extracting chicken from the bone? Is it the final lunge of a dying stone age instinct? Is It an active rejection of technological advance? Who better to ask than those who still willingly tongue away at these chicken bones.

There's nothing more American than an eating competition. For an American mother of two setting out to capture fame, an eating competition is the obvious path towards notoriety. America is also a land of ignorance. So it was only fitting that her chosen food was one smothered in a sauce named for a commonly mis-identified species. In plainest terms, buffalo chicken wings. The how being obvious, the only remaining question is the why. Understanding that requires an introductory podcast episode.
