The SEC 411 – 78 l Jim Harbaugh Can’t Hold a Candle to Jim Mcelwain

The Florida Gators football program developed a negative reputation under former head coach Urban Meyer. Any issues that were present with Meyer shouldn’t be held against current Florida coach Jim Mcelwain. But that may be what is happening. Antonio Callaway was one of seven players to get in trouble recently. And now all of those... Continue reading →

The SEC 411 77 l Auburn is Overrated and Bird Brings the Ruckus (Sort of)

Tom Fornelli recently wrote about the most overrated teams in the 2017 preseason poll. Seth (@SethMerenbloom) agrees with Fornelli, but Bird (@Autull) believes that Gus Malzahn is in the middle of a five-year rebuilding project. The podcasting duo goes as far as to compare Malzahn to Bob Stoops. As is usually the case with an... Continue reading →

The SEC 411 – 76 | This Is Vanderbilt’s Year To Win The SEC…No, Not Really

We’re now in August which means that the start of college football is just a few weeks away. I think we’re all ready to kick this thing off. If off-season content is something you want, you’re going to be sorely disappointed if you’re an LSU fan. First year head coach Ed Orgeron has shut the... The SEC 411 – 75 | Hugh Freeze Has Been Escorted From The Building

We’re just about a month away from the start of the football season. So we have plenty of on-field topics to discuss…or do we? As Lee Corso would say, Not So Fast My Friend! Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze have had the allegation of NCAA violations swirling around them for the better part of the... 74: Ed Orgeron is Building a Wall - Will He Make Texas Pay For It?

Chase Holik (@chaseholik88) joined the show and his timing was perfect. Chase is a Texas Longhorn fan and we're all well aware of the turf war that Ed Orgeron and LSU is waging against Tom Herman and Texas. It seems that Orgeron wants to keep all of those local, 3-star, satellite camp players for himself. Orgeron is building a wall around Louisiana. I'm not sure if Texas has to pay for it though.

73: Is Butch Jones Underrated, Overrated, Or Just Right?

Welcome to our game of musical chairs! Seth (@SethMerenbloom) is back and Bird is out. Not to worry. We still had fun as Kristen Botica ( @KristenBotica) joined us.

72: Bird Doesn't Have Time for Wookies

Ed Orgeron may or may not have himself in trouble with New Orleans high school football coaches. The coaches aren't happy with how he has fired and demoted assistant coaches. But not all of the stories out of LSU are tense ones. Orgeron was the influential voice behind Leonard Fournette sitting out the Citrus Bowl. The first year LSU coach should get more credit than he does for truly caring about his players' well-being.

71: Bird, Damien and the King of Hate Break Down the National Championship

The big game was played between Clemson and Alabama and Dabo Swinney's Tigers are the new king of the mountain. This shouldn't be considered the end of the road for Nick Saban, but Clemson beat the best of the best. Now to see if Swinney can keep it going at Clemson. We mixed in some Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 talk as well. Buttons were pushed, Seth may or may not have danced, so you'll want to tune in.

70: No Real Auburn Fan Cheers for Alabama

Damien fills in for Seth for the platinum anniversary edition of the SEC 411. Damien grills Bird about his Sugar Bowl experience before they reflect a bit on how poor Auburn looked during the game. One of them thinks the end is near for the Gus Bus while the other is a bit more optimistic. The discussion of change leads to the dismissal of Alabama's Lane Kiffin and Tennessee's Mike DeBord. Finally the two discuss Monday's National Championship game and pick winners. No surprises here.

69: Eight Wins in the SEC is like Ten Wins in the Big 12

Let's get ready for the big bowls! Alabama is in the playoff against Washington and Florida and Auburn have high profile games of their own. It's easy to see why these games matter, but not all bowl games are created equal and that has created a small uproar over Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey and Shock Linwood sitting their games out. Is it right? It is for them.

68: Tis' the Season for Bowl Games

66: Jimbo Fisher Doesn't Need the LSU Job

Bird (@Autull) and Seth (@SethMerenbloom) were joined by Damien Bowman ( @damienbowman) and we provided all of the answers to your college football questions...sort of. Butch Jones appears to be over his head at Tennessee and his recent press conferences show a coach who is cracking. LSU still has a job opening and appears to be going all in on Jimbo Fisher. Fisher doesn't need the SEC and is best served staying put in the ACC. And this is Rivalry Week in college football and that means...

65: What is the SEC Doing with Itself?

Are you burnt out from this season? Seth and Bird certainly are. The SEC is turning into a pile of disappointment and so is the rest of college football. That is, of course, with the exception of Alabama. Alabama is doing its part now it's up to the rest of these teams to make college football great again.

64: Brenda Tracy is Wrong, Baylor Football Should not be Shutdown

The Baylor football team and some of its fans continue to show support for Art Briles. This is something that has been met with criticism. Brenda Tracy believes that Baylor has done nothing to correct its sexual assault problem and is demanding that the football program be shutdown.

63: Jalen Hurd is Leaving Tennessee

Tennessee has had a rough year and things just got rougher. Jalen Hurd has decided to transfer and will not finish the season with Tennessee. We've heard from Hurd, Butch Jones and even Hurd's parents. It's a difficult situation that only seems to be getting uglier. Have there been ongoing issues within the Tennessee program? Does Jones run a loose ship? There are certainly people and media members who have the answers, but are any of them willing to set the record straight?

62: Here Come the Tigers!

We start with the resurgent Auburn Tigers and their dismantling of Arkansas. Another group of felines, LSU, is also on the prowl. What will become of Arkansas? And how on earth will the SEC East shake down? This and more right here!

61: Alabama Just Keeps Rollin'

Arkansas had another come from behind victory over Ole Miss. Was this about Arkansas finding a way to win or about Ole Miss not being able to hold a lead? Alabama made Tennessee look like a below average team, but Alabama makes a lot of teams look like that. Was it a case of Alabama being that much better than Tennessee or did the Crimson Tide have help from the officials?
