Episode 7 - Hybrid Stories: Identity and the Dream

2/16/2021
This episode was also recorded on MLK Jr. Day. My way of commemorating the legacy of Dr. King this year was to engage in discussions about the "I have a Dream Speech" in which he described his desires for freedom and equality. But as with other stories, I indulge in the guests’ hybrid stories before exploring their perspective on the social justice issues. Our guests for this episode are: They are first and second gen immigrants. Thank you for listening to Hybrid Notes. I hope you enjoy this week’s episode. If you listened the second episode about my Lessons Learned in 2020, you recall that I mentioned that I will be enjoying the journey and celebrating the wins, so for this episode, I’m doing just that! I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate a tiny victory, which is: I set out to start the podcast and I did it! Episode 5: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Dream Speech - A Conversation with Bessie Marie Scott

1/31/2021
This episode features a conversation I recently had with Bessie Marie Scott, a Public Servant and an avid advocate for social justice. She is a Southern California native who currently resides in the Pacific Northwest. The episode is overdue, because I actually recorded the conversation in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 18, 2021. But then I thought that it would be a prime episode to commence the celebration of Black History Month. I hope that you will enjoy the episode, and to learn more about topics like this, visit www.hybridnotes.com. You can also follow me @hybridnotes on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to keep updated.

Episode 3: Hybrid Stories: A Conversation with John Julius Muwulya

1/18/2021
Unless you’ve been under a rock, you know that we began 2021 with one of the most shocking moments in US history, when a group of Trump supporters basically stormed Capitol Hill in disguise of peaceful demonstration, but broke into the White House. Concurrently, Uganda, which is my country of origin, has been in going through a presidential election process and as in the past, there has been a lot of violence, usually toward the parties opposing the incumbent. In this episode, I share with you a conversation I very recently had with John Julius Muwulya, who like me is an immigrant from Uganda. Julius, a Civil and Environmental Engineer, is currently based in Auburn, Washington. During our conversation he shared a bit about his “Hybrid Story” and immigrant experience and I also definitely benefited from learning about his perspective on social issues and how he is getting along during this time. I hope that you will enjoy the episode. If you have not done so, please click on the Subscribe button so that you can be notified when the new episodes are uploaded.
