She is the Executive Administrator at Women's Foundation California. Ally partners with the CEO, Leadership Team and Board of Directors on the overall administration and operation of the virtual offices. She comes to the foundation with more than a decade of event management and organizational leadership experience. Previously, Ally worked UC Berkeley's Executive Education, directed the non profit Food Craft Institute, and helped produce Oakland's Eat Real Festival for 10 years running. She served three years on the board of Community Foods Market, justice social enterprise in West Oakland. Ally has lived her entire life in California, born and raised in San Diego County, relocated to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University, and currently residing in Oakland's Diamond District with her pets and partner. Today’s episode is an intimate conversation with San Francisco-based artist and producer, Seth Eisen. Seth is the Artistic and Executive Director at Eye Zen Presents, a San Francisco-based transdisciplinary ensemble theater company founded by Seth Eisen in 2007. I met Seth when I was a resident artist at a live work arts collective in San Francisco’s Mission District. I participated in two shows that Seth ran and got to know him as an ever exploring creative person. In this episode, Seth talks about the ups and downs of prioritizing his creative work over the past 30 years of living in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her BA from Purdue University in Educational Leadership & Administration and earned a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from Indiana University in 2020. Taylor is the Vice President of Development and Communications at Teen Works, a youth empowerment and economic mobility program for teens based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Jonathan is a chemical engineer by vocation with a decade of experience in plastics research, development, and manufacturing. He currently works as a consultant for the Fashion industry focused on producing sustainable alternative materials to fossil fuel derived textiles, primarily polyester and nylon. In addition, he also works on advanced recycling processes for handling pre-consumer and post-consumer textile waste which would otherwise be sent to a landfill or incinerated. When he is not working on plastic, Jonathan also works as a garden photographer for The Gardens at Lake Merritt, which is a free botanical garden in Downtown Oakland California. On the weekends, he can often be found walking in the garden barefoot and with his camera. In this week's podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jen Laursen, a teaching artist and leatherworker based in the Bay Area of California. Jen makes leather accessories by hand, inspired by leatherwork from Mexico and fashion and artwork from the American art deco and 1970's periods. She taught herself (and is still learning!) via old manuals, YouTube videos, and her own trial and error process. She teaches private lessons and group workshops at Workshop SF in San Francisco and at Handcraft Studio School in El Cerrito as well as in her home studio. Looking back on this in 2024, I shake my head in amazement. This recording was originally uploaded in 2019, two years into me recording new music and pairing it with videos I shot on my iPhone. I was new to mobile videography and still learning how to build community on YouTube. I was also in the thick of my Alice in Wonderland project, an 11-video series where I sung the first 4 or 5 pages of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. "She had a bottle labeled "Drink me" and a cake that said "Eat me" and I thought, oh wow! This is a metaphor for our phones and digital devices and all the hyper-connectivity that these things bring to us." So people ask me all the time. What are you doing? What is Chantmagick about? I say it's about feeling joy, it's about me modeling so for other people, people listening to the music. It's about peace. it's about kindness and connection, especially in nature. It's a series of musical statements about hope and the feeling that can reconnect to ourselves with nature and to each other.

In this week's podcast, I talk a little bit about a favorite quote which is "Your purpose is what you say it is. Your mission is the one you give yourself." My purpose is to access and bring music from all of my sources out to the public. My job is to find images, movements and sounds that help people reconnect with all knowing, loving source. My task is to stop, evaluate and make subtle shifts so that I don’t dilute my energy and waste the time that I have. What is your purpose?
