Mouth-Off 2.06: Pride Month Special Feature – Sense Memory: Knee Deep in Rainbows

6/29/2025
This Pride Month, Mouth-Off revisits a milestone from the archive: Welsh and Proud – Schools’ Songwriting Sessions (2014). Funded by the Arts Council of Wales and produced by Forget-Me-Not Productions — our first project as a Ltd company — this initiative brought together over 150 pupils from five Cardiff secondary schools to create original LGBTQIA+ themed anthems. The winning song, The Person Within, was professionally recorded, filmed, and screened on the main stage at Cardiff Pride 2014. A decade later, we untangle the cables, revisit the voices, and reflect on the queer legacy of music, memory, and visibility. 🎧 In this episode: Archival clips from the original project Interviews with participating teachers, judges, and community figures A musical montage of student submissions A tribute to late supporters and judges Scott Travers and Ian Bazzard (Bazz) Audio from sister projects United Community and Homophonic is Gay Reflections on ageism, allyship, and protest A Cwtch live set snippet An excerpt from Claire Dowie’s Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? as part of the Cultural Cwtch 🎵 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Theme music: Intro and Outro by Clary Saddler Featuring: The Person Within – by pupils from Mary Immaculate School United Community – by pupils at Willows High School and Clary Saddler Live Out Loud (LOL) – by pupils from Fitzalan School and Clary Saddler Don’t Hide Away in the Shadows – by pupils of Michaelston Community College and Clary Saddler Pam Padlocks – by pupils from Ysgol Plasmawr and Radyr Comprehensive School Mirrors – by pupils from Bro Edern and Clary Saddler Unity – by pupils from Bishop of Llandaff School Forget-Me-Not – by Cwtch Good Thing – by Cwtch Confide in Me (Kylie Minogue Cover) – by Cwtch Shiver – by Cwtch Remember Me – by Cwtch Turn to You – by Cwtch Unreal Reality – by Word Groove Collective Claire Dowie monologue excerpt – Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? Mouth-Off 2.05: Uprising – The Fight for Democracy and Identity

3/19/2025
UPRISING was first performed in 2015, commissioned by The Project Space in Newport and produced by Forget-Me-Not Productions. It was a multimedia, site-specific performance exploring political disenfranchisement, media control, and class struggle, drawing from Newport’s Chartist history and the social climate leading up to the 2015 general election. Through live music, immersive theatre, and audience participation, it questioned who really holds power and how democracy is manipulated. A decade later, in 2025, this Mouth-Off episode revisits UPRISING—through its original music, propaganda-inspired soundscapes, and interviews reflecting on its themes in today’s political landscape. The episode dissects the show’s key moments: Follow us on: 📍 LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/clarysaddler 📍 Facebook: @FMNproductionsUK 📍 X: @1_forget 📍 Pen and Sword Books: https://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/Clary-Saddler/a/5898 📍 Instagram: @forgetmenotclary

Mouth-Off 2:01: Kylie Minogue Album-by-Album: An interview with Quentin Harrison

6/7/2024
Last year, I interviewed music critic (Albumism) and author of the "Record Redux" series, Quentin Harrison, to discuss all things related to the ultimate gay icon, Ms. Kylie Minogue. The "Record Redux" series is a ten-book set dedicated to “resetting the critical narratives of influential and often misrepresented women in pop music.” Previous editions have profiled the careers of the Spice Girls, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Carly Simon, and Donna Summer, with Janet Jackson still in the making. To celebrate Pride Month and to coincide with the release of my book, "Kylie Minogue Album-by-Album: Stick or Twist?" (out June 30, 2024), I had another chat with Quentin. This time, we discussed Kylie’s recent renaissance, her enduring legacy, and her latest release, "Tension." Mouth-Off 1.26: Stick or Twist? An interview with Quentin Harrison

4/16/2023
A couple of years back, Mouth-Off did two episodes on the UK's MOST beloved pop queen - KYLIE MINOGUE. I interviewed two superfans (Mikey Phillips and Jay Hoffman). We dissected Kylie's first self-titled album KYLIE, as well as her most recent album DISCO. The episodes acted as bookends to Ms Minogue's career up to that point. Since then, I have written a book called STICK OR TWIST: KYLIE MINOGUE ALBUM BY ALBUM which is due to be released late 2024. As part of my research I interviewed author, blogger and music critic, QUENTIN HARRISON. Quentin is the author of the RECORD REDUX series; a 10-book set dedicated to “resetting the critical narratives of influential and often misrepresented women in pop music.” Previous editions profiled the careers of the Spice Girls, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Carly Simon and Donna Summer. 3/14/2022
On this episode of Mouth-Off we are discussing EYE + MATTER, a Heritage Lottery Funded project that happened between February 2020 – February 2022. The project was conceived by TY GWYN SPECIAL SCHOOL in Cardiff in partnership with FORGET-ME-NOT-PRODUCTIONS. It provided multiple opportunities for meaningful assistive technology experiences - interwoven with the arts to enable individuals with the most complex needs to share their own history. This project had 13 key stakeholders: Ty Gwyn School, Maes Ebbw School, Trinity Fields School, Park Lane School, Ysgol Hen Felin, RCT Learning Curve (Gadlys Day Centre), Craig-y-Parc School, Jac Richards, Hayder Ali, Ashish Isaac, and Forget-Me-Not-Productions. Mouth-Off 1.20: Overcoming disability, divorce and death of a spouse with Michaela Cox

11/29/2021
After a brief hiatus, Mouth-Off is back with an inspirational story of one woman's courage and determination. I have the pleasure of interviewing MICHAELA S. COX. Michaela is a widowed, solo mother who has published several books. She writes about a myriad of topics, such as motherhood, faith, grief, and culture, while drawing on her own experiences with DISABILITY, DIVORCE, and the unexpected DEATH of her beloved husband. We also discussed the tribulations she has faced, such as her lifelong journey with legal blindness. In this open and honest chat, Michaela shares her positive outlook on life - and lets us in on the secret of how she has managed to not only perserve, but thrive through these challenges. I have interspersed this episode with some original compositions that I feel are very fitting for the topics being discussed. Mouth-Off 1.18: Matt Costa SPECIAL FEATURE: on the margins of the mainstream

8/20/2021
Mouth-Off is a platform for marginalised groups to get their stories heard. Each episode covers a range of topics from disability, gender and religion, to substance abuse, mental health and race. In this episode we use the term 'marginalised' in its broadest sense. As the arts play a significant role in the Mouth-Off podcast, we have decided to do three part SPECIAL FEATURE entitled On the Margins of the Mainstream. During these episodes we will do a deep dive into the careers of three talented creative artists who are meandering on the margins of mainstream success. Matt Costa is a Californian singer-songwriter who has been writing and recording music for over 20 years. He has 13 independent releases: 7 self-recorded EPs, 6 complete LPs, 4 of which are released via Jack Johnson's label Brushfire Records. In this episode, Mouth-Off's host Clary Saddler will interview Matt. They discuss his eclectic musical taste and inspirations, lockdown, folk music as a genre and the transcendent power of music.
