Nashville: Megan Mullins Owen & Malachi Jaggers S05EP20

3/28/2024
On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriters, Megan Mullins Owen & Malachi Jaggers!! MEGAN MULLINS OWEN Megan Mullins Owen is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter from Columbia City, IN. At the age of three, she was performing 200 shows a year with her country and bluegrass family band. She has toured the world with Shania Twain, The Jonas Brothers, Shakira, and Alabama, among others. Megan has been a featured soloist on American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, NBC’s Nashville Star, The Grand Ole Opry, Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno, and more. Her music melds Bluegrass, Classical, Celtic and Classic Country to create her unique, signature sound. MALACHI JAGGERS Malachi's songs blow modern country music backwards, invoking nostalgic feelings of historic family ties, railroads, and heartland America. He's forging his own brand of hopeful, relatable Americana, pulling from personal experience to connect with audiences on a deeply human level. The songs are written with a captivating honesty rarely found in modern music. He’s also an open, vulnerable songwriter: From the richly narrative lyrics to the melodic hooks, his work is infused with compassion and authenticity. In July of 2021 he dropped his dynamic debut EP “Fearless”. Produced by GRAMMY-nominated, engineer/producer Matt Coles. Fearless celebrates the growth that can result from adversity. With his single “An American Hero,” Jaggers conjures the wide open prairies where heartland music was born. It weaves an anthem dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Inspired by his grandfather, who worked on the railroad and served in the Navy in World War II. In the fall of 2022, “An American Hero” was up for consideration for the GRAMMY ballot along with his most recent single “What Are You Waiting For?” Malachi also received rave reviews about his performing and music from journalist Jim Ervin of the Highlands News-Sun newspaper while touring in the Florida heartland in 2023. Malachi recently performed at the historic Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN, and was well received. This September 2023, Malachi’s song “Look At It Go” will be featured in a scene in a BYU-TV show called, “Ruby and the Well”. October 27, 2023, brings the release of his single “Too Soon”. Not only does Malachi sing his original music at performances but also covers a vast amount of music from other artists including The Beatles, CCR, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many more. ****** Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Wednesday night 9pm ET/ 6pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Nashville: Amanada Kate & Riley Braker S05EP18

11/16/2023
On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriter’s Amanda Kate and Riley Braker! AMANDA KATE Born in a no-stop-light-town in Red River, NM, Amanda Kate Ferris grew up equally inspired by her small-town upbringing and her mother, Kathy Wright, an artist and entertainer herself. As one of the original “Dean Martin Golddiggers” on the 1960’s TV show, 18-year-old Kathy often collaborated with The Rat Pack's crooners, embracing the era's glamour. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, and young Amanda was singing as early as two years old. Inspired by her mother’s tales of performing on the stage and screen, she developed her own voice in the church. Amanda added songwriting to her repertoire at age 14, looking again to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a full-time musician and artist. During her mother’s long sets at Honky Tonks between California, New Mexico, and Texas, Amanda fell in love with the music of The Judds, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Leanne Womack, and Brooks & Dunn, all of which heavily influenced her current sound. Her love of Country music led her to chase her dreams in Nashville. Over the next few years, she went through multiple groups, opportunities, and countless hours spent on her craft in Music City. On the brink of letting these long sought-after dreams go, Amanda decided that she needed a change of pace and settled in with her family. After she and her husband welcomed their first child, Amanda was back on stage, this time performing Carrie Underwood songs in a national touring cover band, Blown Away. Their incredible renditions of Underwood’s hits led to an unsolicited and highly coveted spot on Executive Producer Jimmy Fallon’s new show for E!, “Clash of the Cover Bands.” Through Underwood’s iconic songs, Amanda was able to fulfill her love of entertaining and singing, but she felt a calling to again create her own original music. The show was a full circle moment for Ferris, appearing on the same network that gave her mother her start over 50 years ago. Off-screen, this allowed Amanda the opportunity to highlight her new original music, simultaneously releasing her self-titled EP to rave reviews, including editorial placement on Spotify’s Texas Country Now, the largest Red Dirt Playlist. In early 2022, Ferris’ love for traditional Country sparked the interest of renowned producer Jimmy Ritchey (Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt), with whom she recorded five new tracks reminiscent of the traditional country stylings of Ferris’ favorites from the 90s. Look out this fall for “Baby Don’t,” Ferris’ debut on Texas radio. “Baby Don’t” honors her Texas Country roots and showcases her captivating vocals. This lead single will be followed by an EP in early 2023 to reflect upon her western influences and love of Country music history. A cowgirl at heart, she spends any free time riding her horses with her family at Rockin R Ranch in Palmer, TX. On the road, Amanda has graced the stage with such acts as Tracey Lawrence, Bailey Zimmerman, Deana Carter, Warren Zeiders, Chase Rice, Priscilla Block, Casey Donahew, Josh Abbott Band, and more. RILEY BRAKER Riley is a gifted singer-songwriter, with a voice tailor made to tell her heartfelt stories of life as a young adult. She crafts her tales of love, woe, and regret, and infuses her characters with so much life, the listener feels as if they are experiencing the events first handy

Nashville: Kayla McKinney S05EP19

11/16/2023
On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriter, Kayla McKinney!! KAYLA MCKINNEY How did Kayla McKinney begin to sing? Well, if you had been in Buncombe County on a Sunday morning in the 1990s, you would have heard that little girl’s voice floating down the mountainside from the McKinney home. Ray, a corrections officer, and Nora, a homemaker, hosted a Bible study group full of friends, neighbors, and the couple’s seven children. Their homemade church always included hymns of praise. By three years old, their youngest daughter Kayla was doing her rendition of “The Sun’s Coming Up In The Morning”. Kayla says, “I could barely talk, but I was already starting to get an ear for the flow of the song, the melody of the song.” Those believers in her parents’ living room got her started in music, and in faith. “I am definitely a believer,” Kayla says. “I believe that God works. I believe in Jesus.” There were hymns in the family home, and there was Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline, and Carrie Underwood. Cline’s “Crazy” was an early influence, and Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” helped to set Kayla on the long road of country music. “I won so many karaoke contests with just that song! I idolized her so much after that.” Where do you go, when you’re sixteen years old and the music is busting out of you? You go to every mountain dive bar and honky-tonk with a country karaoke night, where they don’t look at your ID too close because they know you, and they know that a good Christian girl doesn’t drink, and because they can see how much you love that little stage. Soon, Kayla was making her first money when she was paid to lead off karaoke parties. Today you can find her music at kaylamckinneycountry.com, including her best-selling single, “These Two Barstools”. And you can find Kayla herself on the bus and on the stage all around the Tarheel State, enchanting her growing crowds. The songs kept calling to her, and she had to answer. Kayla says, “I just think that I never got to see the world. My family has never got to see the world. Through me, in many ways, I want to achieve things that they never got to achieve. As a single mom, I will be the only one who got to graduate from college. Music is the one thing that I am good at. That is the one thing where I can accomplish something. At the end of my life, I can say, ‘I did this’.” ****** Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Wednesday night 9pm ET/ 6pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Nashville: Cynthia Rausch S05EP14

11/5/2023
On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by county-gospel singer/songwriter Cynthia Rausch! CYNTHIA RAUSCH Her parents met in a band in her dad’s home state of Texas. They fell in love and got married then continued to travel and perform together for several years after, before settling down in Dallas Texas and starting a family. Cynthia's dad ended up joining the Navy right before Cynthia was born and served faithfully while his family moved from location to location in true military family style. Cynthia still remembers many trips to Wichita Falls to visit her MawMaw during that time. After her dad left the military, her parents picked up their instruments again and started using their gifts in the local church where their family attended. Cynthia's parents continued adding to the family and eventually there were 8 children in all, with Cynthia being 3rd oldest. At age 14 Cynthia went through a very dark time with her mental health and general overall health. She began struggling with addiction and suicidal tendencies and overdosed at the age of 15, but by the grace of God, she survived. Cynthia is unafraid to share her story of what God did that September night, in hopes of encouraging anyone else with depression and thoughts of suicide. "It is never the answer. You are just ridding the world of the joy of knowing the unique person God made you to be." Says Cynthia. "Please reach out to someone, getting help isn't weakness, it is the strongest and bravest thing you could ever do. And please don't fall for the lie that you aren't loved and valuable. You are. God loves you and so do I." After that night, she found a sudden desire to start learning guitar and singing. Almost immediately after she started playing and singing, she started writing music and pretty soon she was writing the music for her developing family band. Cynthia realized that playing music helped with her mental health and started advocating through her music for others struggling in the same way. Helping others struggling with depression and anxiety had become a focal point of her music. And she continues to focus on that to this day. Around that same time, her siblings started learning to play instruments too, and pretty soon the whole family began to travel and play music for churches, city events and fairs. They traveled from Missouri to Texas and everywhere in between. During this time Cynthia’s gospel roots took on a more country flare and she embraced it. After meeting her husband in 2010 and starting a family of her own, her family band disbanded, but Cynthia fondly recalls the many memories and joys of traveling with her family band. And she cherishes the lessons and values instilled in her life because of them. With her 5th single "Abracadabra" currently out to radio, following her successful top 20 single "What The Whiskey Gave You", Cynthia is taking on the country music scene with joyful gusto. Her love of people and the power of music gives her a drive to bring hope to every listener and show them how much God loves them. Cynthia has shared the stage with several amazing well-known names, including Logan Mize, 90's band Ricochet, Matt Stell, Jerrod Nieman and was nominated as "New Female Vocalist of the Year" in 2022 with the T3R awards. Even though she wasn't a finalist, she was honored to even be considered at all by her fans. She also had the honor of performing at the Sunday night "Future Faces Show" at Texas LIVE in Arlington, Tx prior to the Texas Regional Radio Awards show 2022.

11/5/2023
On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by musician Kimo Forrest (Alabama/ John Michael Montgomery/ Cash Creek) and Nashville recording artist, Trent Prewitt! KIMO FORREST Kimo Forrest has been called "Nashville's Best Kept Secret" for far too long. A career that began in a small wine country town in Northern California at the age of 12, has led him to all 50 states, Canada, and Europe. He's performed with highly acclaimed artists across several genres, recorded in some of the finest studios in the world, had a song on a hit television series, and met the President of the United States three times! After decades as a professional touring and session musician, there are not many things he hasn't seen or done. Yet, since most of his work has been in a support role, all of this has been achieved with little or no recognition. The time has come for the world to know this amazing talent. Kimo's debut solo project is a reflection of his dedication to his craft, as well as his devotion to his faith. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, every sound you hear on this project is performed by Kimo. He also handled production and engineering duties. Lyrically, Kimo's songs draw heavily from his journey to Christianity, while musically leaning on heavy guitars and tight arrangements. Though his path has led him to play almost every style of music from progressive rock and r&b, to reggae and country, his original material has a clearly defined, focused sound, thanks to his production skills. Though Kimo is just beginning to pursue a solo career, the list of artists that have used his talent is long and extensive. A quick glance through his credits provides an insight to the high level he has worked at for years. One listen to Kimo's music and we believe you will agree..... It is time to let the secret out. TRENT PREWITT Trent discovered his passion for music at his first guitar lesson, and hasn’t stopped. Although still in his early 20’s, his love for the more traditional sounds are evident in his music, while still bringing his youthful energy to the forefront of all of his performances and recordings ****** Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Wednesday night 9pm ET/ 6pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Nashville: Carlyle Griffin S05EP05

5/31/2023
On this episode we are joined by singer/songwriter Carlyle Griffin! CARLYLE GRIFFIN Rising soulful artist Carlyle Griffin shares some of her personal feelings on navigating love and life in her latest single Say So. It is now available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more. With two successful singles under her belt and a determination to create authentic music, Carlyle Griffin is establishing herself as one to watch in Music City. Her new single, Say So, journeys to answer the question, “What am I supposed to be doing with my life right now?” The writing process came naturally after the first few lines came to her while on vacation. “I was trying to determine what to do about my career, coming out of a short relationship that left me with a lot more questions than answers, and feeling really overwhelmed by the weight of all the responsibilities I’d garnered over the previous year,” Carlyle shares. “It was a way to try and take all of that off my shoulders and turn it into something that excited me rather than worried me.” Produced by Joel Jorgensen, Say So is a perfectly stylistic tune that displays her musicality and diverse vocals. Getting the groove right is an important part of the process for her and her goal is for the listeners to feel good and be comforted knowing they aren’t the only ones who’ve felt this way before. “I want my fans to connect to the song in all aspects.” With Carlyle’s strong, lyrical vocals in the forefront and embellished horns that hit during the most powerful moments, she showcases her talent, proving that she is making her own way with a beautiful blend of genres and styles that transcends. About Carlyle Griffin: The soulful ingenuity of Nashville-based singer/songwriter Carlyle Griffin can be partially attributed to her upbringing and music exposure from an early age. Growing up on the Carolina coast, Carlyle was introduced to many different genres of music - the sounds of Motown, the emotional lyrics of 70's folk rock, the dramatics of Broadway soundtracks - all of which bleed into her personal creations today. As she continued to delve into her own sound, she was led to land in the bustling Music City. Shortly after moving to Nashville in the Fall of 2021, Carlyle released her first single Symptomatic Daydream, a wistful tune about all the things you wish you could say but just can't seem to. The song was premiered on Raised Rowdy and won 2022’s Folk/Americana Single of The Year at the Josie Music Awards. Her sophomore release, Crash Down on Me, premiered on RadioSobro and showcased her "stop-you-in-your-tracks" soulful voice. With the release of Say So, Carlyle is continuing to pave her own unique path for creativity and form a connection with listeners through her thoughtful lyrics and exceptional musicality. ****** Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Wednesday night 9pm ET/ 6pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
