Preston

A story about the weight we carry, and the people who help us finally set it down. Preston Clarke is ninety years old. He is a soldier, a husband, a father, a builder, and now a resident of The Cove, an assisted living facility in North Georgia. His world has grown small and quiet. But Preston still has stories, and when a young nurse named Carole Clarke begins spending real time with him, he finds the one thing he thought he had lost for good: someone willing to listen. What she hears is the story of a full, complicated, and quietly remarkable life. Inside this book, you will find: • A Life Fully Lived: A Vietnam veteran, entrepreneur, and devoted husband whose private acts of courage and generosity shaped more lives than he ever took credit for. • A Friendship That Changes Everything: The unlikely bond between a ninety-year-old man and a young nurse who becomes the keeper of his story. • A Secret Fifty Years in the Making: A wartime mistake, monthly payments sent across the country for decades, and a daughter who never knew his name. • A Love Story at Its Core: Preston and Edna Clarke, sixty-three years of marriage, tested once, and stronger for it. Preston is a work of fiction by David R. Bales about legacy, redemption, and the quiet power of being truly heard before it is too late. Duration - 6h 3m. Author - DAVID R. BALES.
