CEO, Melissa Laughlin of Blessed Home Project

5/14/2024
Hi! I’m Melissa Laughlin – wife, mom, entrepreneur, and a girl after God’s own heart! I am the founder and CEO of Blessed Home Project. This story begins when I was 19 years old and started my own cleaning company. Throughout the years it grew and expanded, but I continued to feel a tug on my heart for something more. When friends or family were going through challenging times, I noticed everyone brings food (which is great) but I thought I could clean your toilets and floors and that would be helpful too. As years went on, I would do just that. One day on the job, God made it clear to me that I should start a nonprofit to expand the reach of those in need of this service. My husband and I prayed and processed what that might look like. In 2020, we made it official! We worked through all the legal aspects, formed the board, and started serving in the community in 2021. This organization was created to be a blessing by using the practical gift of cleaning to alleviate a burden and be a light in someone’s life. https://www.blessedhomeproject.org/

3/13/2024
For children of all ages, very few feelings match the excitement of opening presents Christmas morning. Often overlooked, however, are the children who won’t receive gifts this Christmas. Victims of unfair circumstances beyond their control, these kids deserve to experience the same level of excitement as their more fortunate peers. Many of these children live within the very own community in which you live and/or do business. Thanks to the Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection and its small business members, thousands of less fortunate local children have received gifts during the holiday season over the past several years as a result of the efforts of Toys For Pittsburgh Tikes.

CEO, Megan McGinnis of The Cheese Queen

11/28/2023
The story of The Cheese Queen begins with deeply rooted family traditions. Growing up, my family owned a multi-generational grocery market dated all the way back to 1946. For years, I cherished Sunday trips gallivanting around the city with my Grandmother to visit all of her favorite specialty shops. And that’s where my story began. I learned my love of Charcuterie from that Queen, and boy was she something special! Oh, the spreads of cheese, meats, pickled veggies she would put together brought people from far and near. Following her example, as a young adult, I landed a job in the Specialty Meats and Cheese section of the family business where I grew my expertise even further, tasting, experimenting, and discovering different pairings and all of the latest trends. Enter: The Cheese Queen. Priceless lessons from my Grandmother continued to carry on through my life. She taught me you don’t need fancy, complicated recipes - just good food made with fresh, quality ingredients and a whole lot of love. And that’s exactly what you’re going to get from me. Delicious, hand-picked, fresh, and custom curations especially for you - every order, big or small - is handled with care and made with love from me to you. https://www.thecheesequeen412.com/
