9: Ashkan Karbasfrooshan

5/20/2018
If you're an avid watcher of YouTube you may not be familiar with Ash, but there's a chance you've seen some of the content made by his company. Ashkan Karbasfrooshan is the CEO and co-founder of Watch Mojo. The Channel has more than 24 million subscribers - it's the 10th largest channel on YouTube and the most successful media brand on the platform. Mostly, they do countdown videos - like Top 10 Video Game Glitches or Top 10 Coolest Celebrity Mums. Any topic you have an interest in, there will be a video for it. It's based in Montreal, Canada with around 50 full time staff members and more than 100 freelancers writers and video editors from all over the world. Ash is a winner of the 2015 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the media category for Quebec, he's also the author of the book 'The 10-Year Overnight Success: An Entrepreneurship’s Manifesto' which lays out the long road it took to get the company up and running. He says the first 5 to 6 years of building it were really tough, and he tells entreprenuers all the time that there is now quick way to success. During this interview he talks openly and candidly about the hard parts, including an excellent story about being sued by News Corp where he represented himself in court and won. If entreprenuership is in any way your thing you have to hear this interview, Ash talks about learning hard lessons, looking after your mental health and staying focused.

8: Carlo Atienza

4/26/2018
To be the best, you have to learn from the best - that's the motto of Carlo Atienza. After discovering a love (and subsequent talent) for dance at age 19, he knew he needed to find his people and a community that would push him further. Carlo is a successful dancer and choreographer now based in Vancouver, Canada. He is a Director at dance company TwoFourSeven which this year won the international Body Rock competition. He's also worked on a bunch of music videos and curates shows and is constantly travelling with his career in the dance community. He started out as many entreprenuers do with a full time job, doing dance on the side and slowly but surely it became his life. One of my favourite parts of this interview was we were talking about feeling like you've got to a point when your passion is your career and for Carlo, it was the moment he bought his own condo in Vancouver with the money he'd earned through dance. When Carlo was starting out he went out of his way to scare himself into making his dream work and surrounding himself with people he could learn from. This interview was recorded a few months ago, since then his Two Four Seven team has been on America's Got Talent and are the World of Dance Los Angeles champions, Carlo is just kicking goals all over the place... he's funny, charming, inspiring and just an overall joy to talk to and I hope you learn as much from his story as I did.

7: Cassidy La Creme

1/15/2018
When I tell people about what Cassidy is doing their first reaction is almost always 'wow, that's cool'. After growing up on the Gold Coast, Australia, Cassidy wholeheartedly pursued her dream of music and is now a huge pop star in Malaysia. Here are just some of her highlights: She was invited to sing for the Prime MinisterShe's the first Caucasian to be nominated for a Malay music awardAlso the first Caucasion to release a single in MalayMore than 100,000 followers on Facebook64,000 on Instagram and32,000 subscribers on YouTube. Not only that, she's in the process of building an entire empire featuring a line of accessories, fashion, a TV show and whatever else she can pack into her schedule. And it all started from a dare. The big question in this interview - how does a girl go from being a Marilyn Monroe impersonator at a theme park in Australia to a celebrity in Asia? Well, Cassidy's story is one of absolute determination and perseverance. Her body clock has her sleeping from 6am-2pm, she creates all her own looks, edits all her own videos and runs her own social media feeds. She's a creative powerhouse who is not only incredibly driven and inspiring, but also super funny and relatable. We talk about the challenges of moving not just cities, but overseas and building a new life and new friendships; asking for what you truly want; paying attention to the signs that move you in the right direction; mastering your own social media feeds; dealing with bullies; getting 'in the zone' as a performer and just going for it. So just about everything. We also grew up together as our older brothers were in the same class so we had a lot to catch up on. Find her on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube And at her website Cassidy La Creme
