Training Idea Puppies

8/2/2022
Jeanne's guest, Jenn Steele, CEO of Kissmetrics, has come up through the ranks and been at every level at companies. As a new CEO, she remembers being the marketing manager and wrangling the idea puppies. She recalls that these CEOs with free-flowing ideas were a lot of fun, but without a bit of training, the Idea Puppies would be set loose to try to bring each idea to reality without thinking it through. Resources can be wasted without some ground rules as to who initiates the next push since it will affect profitability and focus. She has some ideas on how to keep her company engaged and caught up on all initiatives. Her big wins and Wicked Loving shout-outs go to her previous company since she's only been at Kissmetrics for a week as of this episode. Based on her track record of success, we can't wait to check back with her in a few months to hear the highlights at Kissmetrics. About Jenn Steele: She says, "I like big data and I cannot lie..." One of her business school professors described her as "Often unexpected; never boring." She loves taking products to market, growing people and companies, and telling stories (both with and without data).

7 Tips for Hiring Managers

7/20/2022
Jackie Ferguson, Talent Acquisition Specialist at OneScreen.ai, has a few tips for hiring managers to help them fill a pool with better candidates and retain them after you get them! She joins Jeanne for this episode of Table Fries, 7 Tips for Hiring Managers. 1. Be flexible. People looking for a new position usually work elsewhere and have to conduct interviews after hours and during lunches. Keep time zones in mind. 2. Piggybacking on being flexible is leaving extra time between interviews for those special candidates that ask great questions that you become super interested in taking to the next step in the hiring process. Don't pack your schedule so tightly that you have to cut people short because as the time gets closer to your next interview, you have already left the focus of the one you are currently in. 3. Check in with the hiring manager after the interview. Are they ready to move that candidate to the next round? 4 Check in with the candidate after. What was their feedback to the interview? Can you learn from them to conduct a more effective interview the next time? 5. Use LinkedIn Recruiter to source candidates based on job titles, and industries. (reminder to candidates - ensure every element of your LinkedIn profile is current). 6. Keep details on the candidates you reached out to, or that made it to the next round. They may not have fit at the time for that position, but people's situations change. You may want to reach out to them again for another position later. 7 How are you staying current on trends and tools? Jackie hosts a "lunch and learn" regularly to review their process for interviewing any new laws or concerns. If your supervisor isn't doing this, ask them if they would consider it.

Live Each Day the Best You Can and Play the Ukulele

6/7/2022
Meher's guest, Priyanshi Sharma, Media Operations Manager at onescreen.ai says her idea of success for every campaign is when any of her (onescreen.ai) clients post the campaign pictures, the proof of performances that they build together on their social media, actually quite literally promoting all of what they do here and being happy about what they could gain from that. Meher asks Priyanshi, "What do you like to do in your free time when you have the day off from work, what is it that you like to do?" and received a surprising and delightful answer. "I pursue music and restarted playing the guitar and the ukulele. It was something I did back when I was a child, but obviously, with the lives that we have and, you know, the schedules that we follow, it's a little tough to keep up. But when I started at OneScreen.ai, I bought a guitar for me to pursue it back again. " Priyanshi gave a Wicked Loving Shout Out: I think in terms of feeling inspired or somebody who arranges stuff very well for me to be on track with everything is Megan. She is my image senior in our team with the media operations. I think she is the most, organized person that I've ever met in terms of everything. My prioritizations depend a lot on what she tells me and what she aligns stuff, according to that I have to pick up and run with the plan.

Public relations is actually about trying to get conversations going, and actually being able to elevate things that are going on in your organization. That may be external and may be internal. Table Fries host, Jeanne Hopkins says, "One of the things that I really enjoy about BroadPR is it's not just a bunch of press releases. It's the relationships that you have, not only with the media and maybe analysis. Jeanne has been working with her guest, Tracy Wemett, and BroadPR for 20 years. "A PR campaign," Tracy says, "hinges on the relationship with the internal client advocate" - the person who can feed them the information they need and are proactively asking for. This is how a PR firm can take advantage of all opportunities that suddenly present themselves. Listen to this episode and hear about what BroadPR is doing to take care of journalists, as well as how she builds time in her day to react to things. Finding her cup of tea - Business Development & Operations

5/9/2022
Meher's guest is Visishta Challa, Operations Manager at OneScreen.ai. You'd never know she made such a shift in her path. She says, "Why did I choose engineering? I'm a computer science engineer. And I feel so bad for that because I always wanted to learn management administration skills. I always wanted to be in business management. But my dad wanted me to go ahead with computer science engineering. So I took it. And from day one in my first year of engineering, I was like, no, don't it. This is not my cup of tea. But then I switched my major to business development and operations. And, since then I just started loving what I'm doing. And that is something... where I realized that if I really love to do something, I should really stick to it because that will really help me to grow." When asked about what she enjoys about being on the OneScreen team, she says, "There's not one set goal that we are moving towards. Everyone has their own agenda working differently, but parallelly. The goal is always to improve what we do. I'm working towards directory. One of my other teammates is working toward place-based CTV." Trying new things isn't just about work for Devashri. 3/15/2022

3/2/2022
Jeanne asked her guest, Kaeli O'Connell, "Being part of a team is important, but what else is important to you?" Kaeli tells us in this episode, "Having the freedom or the support to try new things and try programs and kind of flex new muscles. Being in a role where there's always something new and challenging is maybe more important than the team, although the team is super important to me." Accepting When You Are Not Hercules

2/15/2022
Jeanne's guest, Meher Govadia was ready. She said it hit her, "Let's get back to work. Let's see what's out there." She was a little skeptical in the beginning. She admits, "After 10 years (not working and caring for her family) and to be brutally honest, I never kept up with the changes in the IT sector and all the new technology that came up. You can't. I mean, when you're so focused on your child and family, it's very difficult to stay abreast with everything else that's happening out there." And she was met with what she expected, "And there was always this, 'Yeah, I'll call you back.' Really? A sudden realization like, 'Man, she hasn't worked in the past 10 years,' until she decided she wanted to work for OneScreen.ai. This episode talks about these transitions from both ends, applicant and management perspectives. Spoiler alert - there is a happy ending. Meher Govadia is the Lead QA Analyst at OneScreen.ai. Join her for this episode of Table Fries. In addition to a wonderful story of finding her place, you're in for a snippet of a poetic treat from her son.

Scaling up can be a drag on efficiency.

2/8/2022
Welcome back to host, Jeanne Hopkins, CRO at Onescreen.ai. Catch up with Jeanne's tales of her COVID jobs before landing here at Onescreen.ai. Jeanne then celebrates scaling a company up in revenue and team, but notes it creates drag on efficiency during that between-time. She says, "Every time that you add new people, trying to explain to people that are joining the team, that you join new people and it's not a creative positive. It ends up, because people have to be trained, and they're learning, and they're trying to figure out how to integrate into the team, that you do have some ... It's not blow-back, but you have some drag in terms of being able to move forward. And that for every person, the efficiency of the team decreases by about 10% because everybody else is meeting and trying to train them and get to that. Hear the rest of these thoughts, and tune in to this episode of Table Fries, "Scaling up can be a drag on efficiency." We'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic and if you have any COVID jobs you want to talk about - those stepping stones - or did you find your new work home?
