3D printed houses is a futurist and rather new idea. It is still very much under development and is in the trial and error stage at this point. However, it is well worth paying attention to. As the technology is developed, the printers manufactured and are ready to build themselves, we may be stunned at the speed in which 3D printing explodes onto the construction scene. The idea of 3D printing home is many fold. It is expected to be mostly automated and therefore require far less manual labour. More machine work tends to create more precise work as well, improving quality control. In addition, it is expected to be significantly faster, so guessing a full modern home being able to be built in days. (plus additional work required for plumbing, wiring, finishings etc) There should be a much wider range of materials that can be used as the base material for the home ranging from concrete, polymers, sandstone, mud and soil, wood, even salt. Baby Boomers Effect on the Future of Real Estate

Baby Boomers have been changing the world around them since they were born and this generation continues to do so as they age and head into retirement. There are no templates to deal with this generation as they have no intention of following any preset design for how to behave in their retirement years. There were many predictions of what Boomers will do with their real estate and lifestyles when they retire. However, as always, Boomers are making many different, contradictory choices and lifestyles that were wholly unexpected. There is no format for Boomers at this time of change in their lives and this creates a situation that is difficult to predict how they will affect real estate in the future. Tiny Living is a movement taking place in many developed countries. It involves people making a conscious choice to live in small homes. Some choose this out of necessity, as affordability of housing in many cities and towns is increasingly becoming impractical. Others choose it for long term financial reasons, not wanting to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in their housing over their lives. We also have those drawn towards Tiny Living, due to the simplicity of it. Small homes equals small storage spaces, therefore less possessions.

Urban Farming and Real Estate

In this Episode we explore the many facets of Urban Farming. Urban Farming can be as simple as growing vegetables in pots on the balcony, to a full scale farm in urban settings, and everything in between. The relationship between ourselves and our food has become more meaningful in the past decade or so, and will only grow (Pun? Yep) more prominent as we continue to learn how the lack of nature in our daily lives affects us. Bringing food production to local levels offers improvements by allowing people to know their farmers and how their food was grown. It reduces the carbon footprint of the farming process, with less transport necessary and makes use of otherwise unused real estate, such as building roof tops. We are just at the beginning of this flourishing movement. (Pun intended. Why doesn't any one like puns!) It is sage ( Yeah. Good one?) to look at the future effects urban farming may have on communities and future housing.
