Episode #434 - Robot in the Family

9/28/2024
For our second Smalltember/Smallvember pick, we take on a film that Dan vetoed last year because he feared his fragile psyche could not take a repeat viewing, but -- like a bad giant golden robot -- it always turns up! Robot in the Family is its name, and it's a sustained 85 minute panic attack in the form of a low-budget 90's "family" comedy. FlopTV is going strong! You can pop in for individual episodes, or get a price break with a season pass — more info (including the full line-up of films discussed) and tickets are available here! Ep.#433 - Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders

9/14/2024
It's that time of year again! Smalltember (or Smallvember, if you're nasty)! For our kickoff "smaller" bad movie pick, we took a recommendation from our podcast network colleague, the esteemed Mr. Justin McElroy, and watched Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders, starring Flop House recurring offender, Jon Voight. It's a mashup of Clue and Saw that takes a turn you will not be expecting with those reference points. Take a listen, and unravel the mystery! FlopTV is going strong! You can pop in for individual episodes, or get a price break with a season pass — more info (including the full line-up of films discussed) and tickets are available here! Ep.#432 - IF, Live!

8/31/2024
From the visionary mind of John Krasinski, Stuart's number one favorite human, comes IF! It's a whimsical tale about how imaginary friends are real and we should have them even as adults, and if we decide to forget them, they'll die or something! Did this sit well with us? Probably not! But it led to one of our best live shows ever, so we hope you enjoy our pain. Season 2 of FlopTV kicks off NEXT WEEK, and tickets are available here! Ep.#431 - Wish

8/17/2024
We celebrate 17 years of The Flop House by discussing Wish, the movie that was supposed to celebrate 100 years of Disney animation, but was mostly met with a resounding, "Meh." Did that ol' Disney magic work any better on us? Listen to find out! We just announced season 2 of our monthly live streaming video show FlopTV! And because this is FTV 2, this season is all about BAD SEQUELS! FH Mini 109 - The Chop House

8/10/2024
Apologies to the ecologically and morally-responsible vegans and vegetarians in our audience, but today's episode is an exploration of cinematic meats, as Elliott takes us through one of the least-essential top ten lists in movie criticism history! Our live show, Three Men and a Hallie, is still viewable for ticket-holders (or new purchasers) thru August 18! If you missed it, there's still time!

Ep.#430 - The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, LIVE, with Griffin Newman!

8/3/2024
Elliott long claimed we would NEVER do the Garbage Pail Kids Movie, due to its extreme unpleasantness, but it only took a live show and the participation of our most GPK-pushing pal, Mr. Griffin Newman, of the excellent Blank Check podcast to break his resolve. What other core principles can we make Elliott discard? Keep listening in the years to come, and we'll see! Also, for all those Hallie fans out there, remember that our next streaming show “Three Men and a Hallie” debuts tomorrow, with tickets on sale now! FH Mini 107 - A Talk with Tom Holland!

7/13/2024
No, not Spider-Man. He's a menace! A menace, I say! Instead we got the amazing opportunity to talk with the REAL Tom Holland -- the one 80s kids will remember -- the writer, director, or writer-director of horror movies and thrillers including Child's Play, Fright Night, Thinner, Class of 1984, Cloak & Dagger, Scream For Help, and Psycho II. As three nerds who grew up with this stuff, you can imagine how excited we were to talk to Mr. Holland, and he was just a delight! We hope you enjoy it as much as we all did.

Ep.#428 - Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver

7/6/2024
We had to do it. We had to return to that ol' Rebel Moon to see what happened to all our favorite space pals, like... uh... there was the one guy who trained like, a bird dragon? And, um... Lady Sword-haver? And Charlie Hu-- no, wait, he was killed in the first one because he was a traitor. There's definitely a Scargiver in this one, though. That one we're 100% on. Oh Zack Snyder. We wish we could quit you. But like, for serious. We're very tired. Have you subscribed to our new NEWSLETTER, "Flop Secrets?" Why not? Ep.#427 - Disclosure, with Meredith Scardino

6/22/2024
We were super-excited to welcome Meredith Scardino, the brilliant writer of a billion comedy things, but most recently the creator and showrunner of the hilarious Girls5Eva. If you haven't watched, please ask yourself what you've been doing with your life, then run over to Netflix to correct your error. We'll wait. Once you're done, you'll be all the MORE excited to hear her discuss 1994's Disclosure, a film that (in the words of Dan's Letterboxd) "Begins as a dumb and offensive sexual harassment thriller, then wisely pivots into an offensively dumb techno-thriller." But what do the other Peaches think? Listen and find out! Also, this episode is about a film featuring the iconic Donald Sutherland, who was still with us at the time of this recording, but who died just recently at the age of 88. We had nothing but good things to say about Mr. Sutherland, even in this silly movie, but for a more full-throated and lovely remembrance, check out this article by the great Matt Zoller Seitz. Disclaimer: we had some unfortunate tech issues at the top of the show, resulting in some worse than normal audio. DO NOT FRET — it clears up around minute 12, and producer Alex made it listenable, if not up to our usual standard. We’ve gotten some new equipment that will prevent similar issues in the future. Wikipedia page for Disclosure In-person tickets for our July 26th Boston show are SOLD OUT, but WBUR City Space is set up to livestream shows, and they're offering inexpensive tickets to watch the show LIVE online! Please note that unlike FlopTV or our fully-produced Stage Pilot shows, this stream can only be watched LIVE, without a larger viewing window, and plan accordingly! Ep.#426 - Boat Trip, with Alonso Duralde

6/8/2024
Alonso Duralde, of our sister Max Fun podcast Maximum Film and many other projects joins us to discuss something that is, technically, a film, and not a pile of feces. But it's a tough call! In honor of Pride Month and also Alonso's new book Hollywood Pride, our guest pitched us some bad LGBTQ+ themed movies, and (in lieu of trashing some failed films with their hearts in the right place) we decided to critique one of the most retrograde comedies of the 2000s: motherfucking Boat Trip. Did we regret this decision? Ask us when we're done crying and trying to wash off the stink. See us LIVE in July in Boston!
