Scaling Your Teaching

7/7/2021
To scale up means to expand. But when in practice, it is very easy to confuse scaling up with generalizing. Scaling up teaching is not the same as providing the individualized care to all students, (which is simply not possible) or to give the same amount of care and time to all students. It’s about expanding the care that you give to individual students and building a strategy that can accommodate the number, diversity, and learning styles of all your students at the same time. Today we chat about how to start scaling your teaching and learning. In the first half, I provide several ideas on how to scale including using my new innovation journal, Reigniting Your Spark. In the second half of our show, Renee Houser joins me to dig into scaling with our mental capacity and how our new venture, Living Your Learning is meeting a need for just in time professional development (https://livingyourlearning.education/) Purchase a journal! https://thedotconsulting.co/books/ Follow us at Living Your Learning @livurlearning

Sparking the Desire to Learn STEAM

4/28/2021
Why is STEAM important? STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) is everywhere; in the mobile devices that can be found everywhere, in the cars that we drive, and in everyday articles, such as, a microwave, and a fridge. STEAM holds the keys to the future of our planet, for it’s how we will stop climate change, how we will continue to better healthcare, and how we will make a technologically developed world. Today, my guest Laura Plata, a freshman in high school, has taken her passion for inquiry to create a path to inspire others to love and learn about the power of STEAM. Laura launched the platform STEAMinis during the pandemic to spark interest. STEAMinis is an initiative with the goal of helping kids spark a desire to learn STEAM. STEAMinis will do this through interactive workshops in both English and Spanish. STEAMinis wants to help bring access and awareness to kids who may otherwise not have much exposure to STEAM. Top Tech Tools for Small Business

4/21/2021
Businesses rely on technology to increase efficiency, manage expenses, grow profitability and improve performance. Small businesses want technology to help them communicate better and grow. But nearly one-third (31 percent) of small business owners told Forbes and Cox that they aren’t sure which technology is best for their business. “You don’t know what you don’t know, and people fear what they don’t know. Technology is a good example of that. The choices a business owner makes, including hardware, software, cloud and security procedures, have a big impact on a business. And finding trusted advisors can be daunting, as can finding the right partner or IT employees.” Today is a live conversation on how we can navigate through the challenges and begin to find the right fit for your business.
