The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on how we educate our children. And while most of our kids have returned to learning in the classroom, that doesn’t mean we should abandon online education tools altogether. Especially since the rise of online learning has produced incredible platforms like Outschool, which offers a diverse range of classes on every subject you can think of, from marine biology to horror films. In today’s episode, we unpack one course in particular that every parent should know about by Jo Reynolds on the dangers of video gaming and why it can be so addictive. To learn more about this informative course and how you can help your children safely navigate video gaming, be sure to tune in today! S4E1: Schools and Violence

1/24/2023
Please note that this episode carries a trigger warning for school shootings and gun violence. Welcome to 2023 and Season 4! Sarah Southwell has set out a goal to focus more on education in her future episodes, and this episode is doing just that. In this episode, Sarah wants to ask an important question; what are the parents going to do about gun violence in schools? With a terrifying and devastating increase in this violence, there has been an outcry from parents asking the administration what their mitigation plans are. Parents and schools have to work together to create a solution, and Sarah shares some of her personal and professional ways to do just that. She discusses the long-term implications of gaming and gun violence imagery and why there needs to be a reshaping of the education system to change the narrative of the public school institutional model into one that is enjoyable, encouraging, and supportive of learning. It all comes down to a need for active, communicative, and (unfortunately) more restrictive parenting. S3E7: Choices

7/12/2022
The choices we make affect the world around us, but they also impact our daily lives in profound ways. Sarah’s 16-year-old son, who was diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder at age five, was the main driving factor behind her family’s decision to buy a farm and grow most of their own food. As you may already know, there are numerous correlations between environment, nutrition, and how a child heals, recovers, and displays their best qualities, whether they are on the autism spectrum or not. In today’s episode, we learn from Sarah’s observation of her son working through how his body is responding to his own choices and examine the relationship between choice and consequence. We also invite you to consider the choices that you make on a daily basis and how they may help or hinder you in achieving your goals. Tune in today to learn more! S2E13: Immune System with Steve Delvo

11/2/2021
In today's episode, we are joined by Steve Delvo, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, who shares his thoughts on what the immune system is and how it functions from an Eastern perspective. Rather than choosing between a Western and Eastern approach, our goal today is to learn how to put it all together holistically in a way that helps us to live most vibrantly. Rather than seeking emergency medicine, we should be thinking about staying ahead of the curve to support immunity and prevent illness. Listeners will hear about the foundations of Steve’s holistic approach, with a focus on the spleen, kidneys, and liver and their relationship to one another. We talk about the role of emotions in supporting or degrading immunity, and how a diverse diet supports your energy, and herbs and acupuncture can act as tools to get you back on track. We touch on stress, and why it is the silent killer, and the oriental habit of countering actions that bring imbalance. As we conclude our conversation, Steve tells us why it is so important to make sure your organic structure is healthy and recommends that everyone sees a Doctor of Oriental Medicine alongside their existing healthcare routine. S2E12: Passports

10/5/2021
The focus of today’s episode is a topic that forms the basis of a hotly contested debate raging across all parts of the world today. I’m going to be sharing my view on COVID-19 vaccine passports which are, in many places, being used as a measure of determining whether or not citizens are entitled to enter certain institutions. I know this topic is likely to make a lot of people feel uncomfortable, but rather than avoiding discomfort I encourage you to face it, because in doing so you will learn more about why you feel the way you do. My view all boils down to the fact that I believe that trust and respect for other people’s views should form the foundation of our society; listen in to see whether you agree. Key Points From This Episode: Tweetables: “Sometimes when we feel icky or we get upset by something, it’s a moment for us to realize that there is some truth in what we’re hearing.” — Sarah Southwell [0:00:49] “If you want to vaccinate, you should vaccinate and I am all for your right to vaccinate but I am not for you taking away the right of choice from someone else.” — Sarah Southwell [0:02:34] “I personally don’t believe that we should deem what is right for another person if they’re not hurting anyone else.” — Sarah Southwell [0:06:43] “Living afraid of each other is the worst virus we could ever have. We cannot turn on one another. That will lead to nothing but destruction and violence and anger and isolation.”— Sarah Southwell [0:08:47] Links Mentioned in Today’s Episode: Sarah Southwell on LinkedIn GroWise Be Well

8/3/2021
In today’s special episode, Sarah guides listeners through her daily visutation, a meditative visualization exercise for checking in with one’s body. It’s important to set aside at least 15 minutes for this exercise, although you may want to set aside a bit extra, especially on your first try. Sarah offers a gentle reminder that if you haven’t checked in with your body in a long time, the house you visualize may need some love and care, but that’s nothing to be ashamed about. Throughout the visutation she guides listeners through various visualization exercises, like using a grounding cord to invigorate your lower energies, as well as employing different colors for visualizing your chakras. 6/8/2021
How much time have you spent on social media today? Probably more than you’d like to admit. And how much of that time has made you feel good? Probably not very much. In fact, it’s probably made you feel more anxious than anything else. As a non-social media user herself, Sarah Southfield has watched what it has done to the people around her, and she is horrified by what she has seen. In today’s episode, Sarah explains why the connections that social media platforms claim to create are not real and how they contribute to the mental health crisis that the world is currently experiencing. She presents a very compelling case for why we should remove social media from our lives entirely and find better uses for our time; calling friends, volunteering at homeless shelters, adopting pets.
