The story revolves around John, Mary, and their daughter Emily, who move into the eerie Blackwood Manor. They also find a journal written by Eleanor Vance, detailing the family's terrifying experiences and their attempts to contain the entity through a ritual. John, Emily, and Sarah decide to perform the ritual to banish the entity. They gather the necessary artifacts and descend into the subterranean chamber beneath the house. The ritual is complex and dangerous, requiring precise timing and movements. As they perform the ritual, the entity emerges, a monstrous form of fire and shadow.
