When Stars Disappear

A FORGOTTEN PAST. A MAGICAL GIFT. A DEADLY OBSESSION. Forty-two-year-old Beatrice Carter can remember every ingredient for her regionally-famous apple crisp, but not much else. Even more unsettling? Her mother doesn’t remember her, either. As she struggles to uncover who she is and what caused her amnesia, Bea returns to work at the bookshop and bakery she owns in her upstate NY hometown, finding solace–and an unexpected spark–with Taylor, a local artist from the gallery across the street. But when Bea befriends Vivian Sterling, the gallery’s magnetic and mysterious owner, her path to self-discovery takes a dark turn. Vivian’s fascination with Bea grows obsessive, and Taylor’s memories begin to disappear. Bea must remember what happened–and fast–before anyone else loses their mind… or worse. Perfect for fans of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, The Unmaking of June Farrow, and Practical Magic, When Stars Disappear is part mystery, part family saga, and part later-in-life coming of age--with a bit of magic, and plenty of millennial and gen X nostalgia, thanks to the morally gray older protagonist.
