His song "By Degrees" featured all star musicians Rosanne Cash, Josh Ritter, Sheryl Crow, Anais Mitchell, Jefferson Hamer and Lori McKenne, and it was nominated for the American Industry's Best Song of the Year Award. John Prine took the top prize for Summer's End from his Tree of Forgiveness album.
